Of course it's the sun. That's why now the sun is in its least active since the last maunder minimum (i.e. record low sunspots) we are experiencing cooling. Astrophysicists who are not part of the IPCC have been saying this for years, and they have published original unfudged data showing correlation between solar activity and climate. Only the IPCC claim the sun's influence is negligible. We know the UN is corrupt (its record speaks for itself). The UN funds the IPCC. You do the math.
As an example of how things works sometimes, and how much "authorities" can be trusted:
In Norway (oil producing high-cost socialist-capitalist country of ~5mill. people) there is a lot of farces going on, but one trick played was that "to save the enviromnent people must now buy diesel cars so we make those cheaper to have" and after people bought diesel cars Crazy Ivan appeared and "diesel cars pollute so much that we must tax them extra hard".
Yeah, the heats on NOW isn't it Gore? You're being SUED for FRAUD by the founder of the weather channel, (along with over 31K other scientists) for spreading the LIE that Co2 causes climate change. IT DOES NOT CAUSE IT! The Cap and Trade bill will NOT reduce REAL pollution! It's just another TAX, and it puts the BIGGEST POLLUTERS in CONTROL of this Nation!
If Al Gore wasn't full of shit he would debate scientists that differ and find his position isn't supported by facts, but he has refused to, even if the money raised would go to his "cause". That is how you can tell someone who doesn't know what they claim to know, when they can't engage in honest debate about what they are selling. Al Gore is simply a salesman, selling a plan, not to actually reduce pollution and chemicals we should worry about, no his plan is to lessen CO2, a necessary gas

I just don't understand how ANYONE could fall for someone who looks and sounds so disingenuous, and whose actions do not support his words.
Gore being a liar doesn't directly affect anything about climate change, except the people who ONLY listen to Al Gore and thus are relying on specious information, I would go a step further and inject misinformation.
I do reject his policy approaches since those are the the roots of his corruption, and attempts to profit off of this crisis.

I am aware, and I did a report on it in the late 80's to early 90's, my source was a greenpeace piece in I think MacLean's or another major Canadian publication. At the time I was terrified to learn of the potential fallout. In the article the greenpeace official used strong suggestive language and ended with a calculation that if we didn't stop our polluting by the year 2000, we would reacha "critical mass" of sorts......
... and the warming would be irreversible, and by 2005-2010 we would see massive flooding. I argued with my very conservative West Indian father for days about it afterwards convinced the article was 100% right and he is wrong. yet the article prooved to be far less prophetic than I or my report admitted. My skepticism is born of many reports I read and agreed with only to find their findings off when time came due. while I appreciate the potential for danger ......
... to both humans and animals, as well as our eco systems, I am equally appreciative of mans tendancy to pronounce as absolute things of which he barely understands. I don't think humanity does understand the complicated process of climate and its changes and cycles of change fully enough to predict anything. I await convincing science to determine what will happen. the end result should certainly be primary in concern to how we move next, and we don't know that yet.
.... but I do remain skeptical mostly from personal experience growing up, being very much a self identified environmentalist. And to a lesser degree your video, that I touched on before. If anything the area I find myself most out of lockstep with the majority is what to do about climate change. After viewing your video, and applying its logic to preventative vs adaptive measures, I find myself highly skeptical of attempts to prevent strictly.
The "science" behind the global warming hysteria is so questionable, and so tunnelvisoned, and so biased, that many scientists have left that carousel in protest, and many others have presented counterweight evidence or indications and many of those have experienced problems (like what often happens when scientists 'step outside the cage')..
Al Gore himself have made a lot of money off this and bought another mansion.
The sun is by far the most powerful thing in the neighbourhood, there is warming on the other planets too, think ionization and plasma and you are getting closer..
Did you know that NASA discovered recently to their surprise that the ionosphere was much lower than they expected? At the same time as a general cooling was registered?
You know why?
More incoming ions peps up the ionosphere so it rises, these ions also makes more clouds by "seeding".
More clouds means a rise in ground level temperature, as anyone in polar areas will know from winterly weather-changes, the clouds will act as a "lid" and reflect heat back down, in more tropical or desert areas you may observe that, and the opposite; at night the clouds make it warmer at ground level, in day time they will reflect incoming heat form the sun somewhat..
Incoming particles hits molecules and ionize them so that they act like condensation cores for water.

To all the climate change skeptics in this thread: You have no idea how stupid you sound. You remind me of those people in the 70s who went on and on and on about how there was no proof that cigarettes caused cancer, and it was all just propaganda to justify new taxes. They were listening to industry propaganda, and so are you. You look like a bunch of fools.
To the rest of us: Let's stop arguing with these people. They won't be convinced, but eventually they'll go away.
i know i cannot believe that these morons don't use logic/scientific data to make decisions.
they use emotions, and political agendas to form their stances.
go to skepticalscience to see how easily people are mislead and how this happens.
i'm working with hydrologists on a project here in the desert, studying water management practices. they also have been studying climate change effects due to global warming too & the rapid changes that vary from any other models before.
Nah, sorry.. just employing common sense. I have an open mind, but when blaming every climactic event, normal or extreme,on global warming, err,oh sorry, climate change... You anticapitolist ought to know a scam when you see it.. Ask big Al what his carbon footprint is.. Oh sorry, he only gets to tell US how to live...
You are a big pro-capitalist are you? You like this laisse-faire capitalism that led to credit default swaps and betting with borrowed money, and then THE WORKING PEOPLE paying off the gambling debts. Gotta love capitalism!!
We need to keep on burning Saudi Arabian oil as long as possible, and extracting coal by blowing the tops off mountains, and burning it. Fuck clean solar, wind and geo-thermal power! ITS A COMMUNIST PLOT TO TAKE AWAY MY HUMMER!!!
He's right Cap and Trade is an inferior method of price signaling carbon than taxing it outright. It's time to tax green house gases starting with carbon pollution!
I can't believe MY representative ( Scalise ) is WASTING time like this ! He will NOT last in Congress I predict. Al Gore is a great man!! Scalise is the worst of the worst politician.
A great man? when all this "sky is falling" rhetoric is proven to be just a bunch of politically motivated socialist inducing hype.. Al Gore will be shown to be the true fool...
I can tell you don't like all those detail FACTs. Unfortunately for all of us, Al Gore is BEING vindicated NOW ... Climate Change IS occurring.
But since you would prefer to ignore the FACTS, I just have 1 question ... would you like to buy some land in deep south Louisiana .. near the disappearing COASTLINE ? Great Deal! But you have to buy it AS-IS.. ok?
HA,,, you cant be serious? vidicated? listen, If the climate didnt change, then we'd have a problem.. The fact is climated always change.. its just not man made.. Much of louisiana is under sea level so am i surprised that the coasline is shrinking? I'd be suprised if it wasnt..
Are you serious? I mean, really? Do you think because one man is setting himself up to be in a better position that ... you... can claim not only climate change to be false, but that its socialist... and just hype... Do you know anything about the facts? Anything at all? whats socialism to you, and what does heightened hirricane activity, and increased snowing in Las Vegas mean to you? how about melting glaciers or does climate "change" only have to be warming? it means change and chaos. Really?
Facts?.. You want facts? there has been no increase in hurricane activity... we were in a warming period from around 1984 to around 99, and now in a slight cooling period from 1999 til present.. the climate has always been changing, and will always change, but this "earth is doomed" crap is insane.. Iam sorry, but the debate is NOT over just because these alarmist refuse to do so.. These changes are no man made...
Because Gore's answer was full of uhhs and ahhs and he got really upset over the fact that someone had the nerve to question his ethics.. Remember, it is against the rules to debate this issue..
Against the rules? To debate whether or not global heating is real? Naaahh, go ahead.
While we're at it, lets debate whether Noah could get all those species on the ark -- and whether the origin of diverse languages can be traced to the Tower of Babel.
Lets debate whether the earth is 6000 years old. Or whether or not Sarah Palin would make a good president. Jeez you Republicans are stupid.
Remember the movie Easy Rider, when the country hicks shoot Dennis Hopper off his American-made Harley, because he is a long-haired hippy?
NOW ALL THE HICKS HAVE LONG HAIR (and blond streaks, which Dennis Hopper never would have done.) My point?
All you Republican hicks WILL EVENTUALLY GET WITH IT -- IN 30 YEARS, when its way out of style. And you'll do it in the faggiest way possible (see Keith Urban, Billy Ray Cyrus.)
Get on the Soul Train now brother! Why wait 30 years?
Good God, cap and trade concepts have been discussed since the 1970's. It's exactly how we've mitigated other atmospheric concerns, like SO4 and CFC's.
It's worked before, it will work again, these guys complain about it it will kill them, until their forced to do it, and then complain until someone points out that things worked and then - oh - we thought of that back in the day - freaking amazing, where do these short sighted guys get jobs!?
TPM would do better to have the full responses. I don't know if they know this, but they can have segments as long as they would like. They don't have to worry about hard commercial breaks or anything. It would have been nice to have heard Gore's response.
.. an ad personem argument against a particular energy policy?
.. and Scalise is talking about "the little guy" when Loisiana is in the pocket of the big oil companies?
If we allowed Scalise's ad personem argument, no Congressman from Texas, Louisiana, or Oklahoma should be recognized by the Chair, since their views too would be tainted by the oil lobby.
i love you cowardly rats jumping the 2 party ship thinking you're a smarty pants now that you've got the pole holding the fence up your asses. "libertarian populists"??hahahahaha.....good for you, nimnuts, you no longer have ANY power. let the people decide? the people are too STUPID to decide!!
Why does he keep calling it a scheme? I am guessing he would also have to say that Social Security is a scheme as well, then... I also find it funny how Gore is completely bewildered by the idiocy of the questions.
And the two party system is full of shit to me, I'm glad I'm no longer a democrat, I'm a libertarian populist now, I Don't give a shit about the two party system now.
Government should stay out of people's lives, because big government is killing this country, let the people and the market decide what's best for our energy, not the government.
Yes, corporate anarchy. Great idea Ayn Rand. Government shouldn't protect people from abusive corporations "let the market decide". More lead in products, legalization of child labor, no safety regulations, slave wages... hell, the industrial revolution was so fun the first time let's do it again.
i get it - I understand your point of view - what is your suggestion? - it's got to be more than "give it back to the people" - that not a suggestion, it's a slogan -
Entropy: you really believe that government protects society from corporations??? you are naive buddy ..too naive- if you don't realize that governments actually work for corporations then you need to rethink your whole philosophy...hahah governments protecting people...what a joke!
If you look at ANY monopoly or abusive corporation, they always have friends in Washington. You'd like vids by this guy called confederalsocialist. he's really great and non-partisan.. largely because he's an anarchist. But here's an interesting vid he did
And how are people supposed to influence the behavior of businesses, if the cost of pollution is not reflected in the cost of their products or services?
And sadly the federal government is also the big problem, because big government will make the situation worse, because the two party system is hurting americans badly.
I Don't want federal government controlling my life, I Want it out of my life/
Lets say all of the world's scientific institutions said that they were atleast 90% certain that a large meteor was going to hit the earth in 50 years.
The reason you have the privledges and freedoms that you have is because of GOVERNMENT.
The reason you can drive safely down the road is because of GOVERNMENT.
YES there are government policies that are annoying (like deciding who can marry), but blanket statements like wanting government "out of my life" is rediculous.
There are plenty of countries out there to choose from with "little governent", but trust me you won't like them...
That statement is just as nonsensical no matter who says it. Try using your own thoughts and ideas.
Losing our freedoms is not the problem of "government" it's the problem of POLICY within the government you need to understand that.
Like I said feel free to go to some countries in africa, asia, and latin america that have very little government and then come back to me. You could try living in rural Mexico too. Very little government there...
Costa Rica was the first nation to abolish their army. Think how much we could save if we(US) did that. 4th highest inflation in South America. Have fun down there.
Sure it's paradise, more so if you''ve already made your wealth in the US, Europe, etc.
But the natives in that area as well as Nicraragua and Ecuador have been plundured and abused for years (still is). Most live in poverty today. Why? because their GOVERNMENT sucked and offered them no protection.
It's a nice place for us rich americans to visit though...
Too bad costa rica's entire economy is based on servitude and tourism.
I HAVE watched Alex Jones, his movies and radio program. But guess what? I can listen to someone and not agree 100% with what they are saying. Why? Because I can think for myself.
Those in the government who have abused their power and gone beyond the authority granted within the constution and international law should be PROSECUTED!!!
That does not mean everything bad in this world is the government trying to "get you".
Appreciate what we have in this country as imperfect as it is.
I Love my country, but I Do not love my government, because of the secret socities and the CFR.
I Can also think for myself, this country has been sold out since 1913 with the creation of the unconstitutional federal reserve and others since then have been unconstitutional.
Cap and Trade hasn't done any good in Europe. It has driven industry out of Europe and led to a catastrophic trading relationship with China. China doesn't have to control its emissions and will never have a cap and trade tax against their energy industry and manufacturers.
The free market and tax incentives from the federal government has spawned a robust wind energy industry in the US already. We need to develop the alternatives before we burn down the house we are living in.
People believe crap all the time. As long as it's repeated over and over - the main mod-us operandi of the GOP. People believe Glen Beck for cripes sake.
This is only the first utterance. It hasn't even gone into the slime echo chamber yet. Expect to hear about this fictitious Gore/Enron connection until you're nauseous
I heard Enron had Christmas parties too. We must ban Christmas parties for all companies now because if Enron was involved in one, they all must be evil.
I think if any industry leaders are involved in writing legislation it should at least raise a warning flag. In the past bankers were deeply involved in writing legislation for both sides of the isle. Oil companies write legislation for both Democrats and Republicans. This may not bother you but I find it disturbing.
One thing is for sure. If Enron was involved in writing the legislation you can be sure they didn't have your best interest in mind.
Do you think you're going to have an "equal world" with the cap and trade and carbon taxes like Australia? Check out this video on YouTube about immigration and the world poor: "Immigration by the Numbers -- Off the Charts" Watch it and let me know what you think.

For the sake of argument, lets assume that Gore is the worst person in the world.
Now what does that he have to do with the validity of climate science?
Now if you disagree with the specific policy proposal he's advocating for, that I can understand.
But the fundamental science isn't automatically invalid, merely because you don't like the political implications.

Well if climate change were linear, then I'd probably agree with you. The scary part is dealing with is non-linear warming.
In particular, the scariest thing to me would gigantic oceanic stockpiles of frozen methane.
In the form of what's called methane clathrates.
Just a tiny percent of which would put thermonuclear holocaust to shame.

So a low ionosphere would indicate a lack of ultraviolet radiation. Or more generally weak solar output.
And the sun's been having weak solar output for nearly 2 decades now.

Oh sorry, he only gets to tell US how to live...
roborob676 2 years ago
You are a big pro-capitalist are you? You like this laisse-faire capitalism that led to credit default swaps and betting with borrowed money, and then THE WORKING PEOPLE paying off the gambling debts. Gotta love capitalism!!
We need to keep on burning Saudi Arabian oil as long as possible, and extracting coal by blowing the tops off mountains, and burning it. Fuck clean solar, wind and geo-thermal power! ITS A COMMUNIST PLOT TO TAKE AWAY MY HUMMER!!!
Its not name calling. You really are stupid.

Great Deal! But you have to buy it AS-IS.. ok?
burtpelt 2 years ago 3

Really?
grumpherys 2 years ago

Why didnt they leave in Gore's answer?
taoofmichael 2 years ago
Because Gore's answer was full of uhhs and ahhs and he got really upset over the fact that someone had the nerve to question his ethics.. Remember, it is against the rules to debate this issue..
roborob676 2 years ago
Against the rules? To debate whether or not global heating is real? Naaahh, go ahead.
While we're at it, lets debate whether Noah could get all those species on the ark -- and whether the origin of diverse languages can be traced to the Tower of Babel.
Lets debate whether the earth is 6000 years old. Or whether or not Sarah Palin would make a good president. Jeez you Republicans are stupid.

Hey roborob!

Is that all the republicans have? ..
.. an ad personem argument against a particular energy policy?
.. and Scalise is talking about "the little guy" when Loisiana is in the pocket of the big oil companies?
If we allowed Scalise's ad personem argument, no Congressman from Texas, Louisiana, or Oklahoma should be recognized by the Chair, since their views too would be tainted by the oil lobby.

==Get the government out of your life and let the market decide this.==
Fair enough, but how is the market supposed to "decide" if atmospheric pollution is free and unrestricted?

re: jmjfanss
==Because we have strict property rights, that's what ron paul said.==
And who owns the earth's atmosphere?
greyflcn 2 years ago
We the people do, not the government and big business
See ron paul enviornment.
jmjfanss 2 years ago
And how are people supposed to influence the behavior of businesses, if the cost of pollution is not reflected in the cost of their products or services?
greyflcn 2 years ago
re: jmjfanss
The point being that Property law isn't a one-size-fits-all proposition.
"Common Pool Resources" are unique in that they don't really lend themselves well to individualist market principles.
Which usually means they fall into the category of, What the market can't handle by itself. i.e. a "market failure".
And one of the major reasons we have a federal government is to correct market failures.
greyflcn 2 years ago
And sadly the federal government is also the big problem, because big government will make the situation worse, because the two party system is hurting americans badly.
I Don't want federal government controlling my life, I Want it out of my life/

jmjfanss 2 years ago
I'm sorry to have to say it, but...
There are plenty of countries out there to choose from with "little governent", but trust me you won't like them...
oolong2 2 years ago
But ronald reagan said it best, government is not the solution to your problems, government is the problem.
and current government is the problem now, we are losing our freedoms and privledges.
jmjfanss 2 years ago
Who gives a rats ass what reagan said?
That statement is just as nonsensical no matter who says it. Try using your own thoughts and ideas.
Losing our freedoms is not the problem of "government" it's the problem of POLICY within the government you need to understand that.
Like I said feel free to go to some countries in africa, asia, and latin america that have very little government and then come back to me. You could try living in rural Mexico too. Very little government there...
oolong2 2 years ago
plenty of places with very lttle government are paradise. I submit rural Costa Rica and Fiji.
KidVolcano 2 years ago
Costa Rica was the first nation to abolish their army. Think how much we could save if we(US) did that. 4th highest inflation in South America. Have fun down there.
hoosiermama5357libin 2 years ago
Sure it's paradise, more so if you''ve already made your wealth in the US, Europe, etc.
But the natives in that area as well as Nicraragua and Ecuador have been plundured and abused for years (still is). Most live in poverty today. Why? because their GOVERNMENT sucked and offered them no protection.
It's a nice place for us rich americans to visit though...
Too bad costa rica's entire economy is based on servitude and tourism.
oolong2 2 years ago
Losing our freedoms is defintely the worst thing that america can do.
see the alex jones DVD's and you'll see.
The U.S. Government is the problem.
Reagan knew the truth and now is here.
We lost habeus corpses and many more of our freedoms.
jmjfanss 2 years ago
I HAVE watched Alex Jones, his movies and radio program. But guess what? I can listen to someone and not agree 100% with what they are saying. Why? Because I can think for myself.
Those in the government who have abused their power and gone beyond the authority granted within the constution and international law should be PROSECUTED!!!
That does not mean everything bad in this world is the government trying to "get you".
Appreciate what we have in this country as imperfect as it is.
oolong2 2 years ago
I Love my country, but I Do not love my government, because of the secret socities and the CFR.
I Can also think for myself, this country has been sold out since 1913 with the creation of the unconstitutional federal reserve and others since then have been unconstitutional.
jmjfanss 2 years ago
Your country *IS* your government. What do you love then? The landscape? LOL... Who do you think defines the society that you live in?
I think all the people trying to cross the GOVERNMENT border and immigrate here to our GOVERNMENT regulated lands would disagree with you.
YES you can dislike certain elements within the government (fed reserve, etc).
But to make a blanket statement like that is rediculous.
It just means you have no idea how good you have it here and that's sad.
