Loved this film it forever changed my life. saw it in 74 when I was 11 made me want to become an architect and thats what i studied in college. made me greatly respect firemen and now I own the dvd..and yes I think its one of best films with the best cast made...still think it should have won best picture, but thats just me
@TheKingofSwang Nahhh, no way anyone was gonna beat The Godfather Part 2 that year. Although you should check out the youtube vid of that year's Academy Awards ceremony and see Irwin Allen's reaction when he lost. =) You're right, this movie was awsome!
At 00:29-00:50 that music is so powerfull! Keeps building up perfect with the scene from the helicopter passing over the Tower ingulfed in flames! LOVE IT!
The main title music to The Towering Inferno is the greatest single piece of film music ever recorded in my opinion. I bought the vinyl soundtrack in 1975 and paid $168 for the very rare soundtrack CD in 2004 but it was well worth it.
@ste20000000 There was no dialogue in this scene probably because the filmmakers did not want to give out too much information on how to use plastic explosives, for liability reasons.
I quite literally grew up on this movie, it even inspired me to join the volunteers when I was younger.
Man this brings back memories.

Always had this horrible vision that what if Steve Mcqueen and Paul Newman didn't make it back in time, to tie themselves down.

No you're right, there is no dialogue because I enjoy (and hopefully others) watching some scenes with just the music and image.
I'm a huge John Williams fan and I love the work he did for The Towering Inferno.
