Horrible tone and playing. He's done as far as we once knew and loved him. You can never deny what he did for guitar, but he is clearly done. Too much drugs and booze. He's become like Jimmy Page (another fave of mine) sloppy. Jeff Beck and Clapton seem to be the only ones form the old days that can still really bring it. Just my .02

toaster has got it wrong...guitar and sport ARE TOTALLY SIMILAR, as you have to work hard in order to become good at both of them. Yes, they may demand different levels of physicality, but that doesnt make the other one harder to do than the other

Hey, give em a break, even the greatest sports stars cant play as well as when they were in their prime. How about respecting him for what he did with the guitar while in his prime. We all get older, most would have given it up but he keeps going. I think thats great. Most kids today wouldnt have the balls to keep at it for more than a couple of years. And Guess what ! Eddie needs a complete detox, Cobias is 100% spot on! Also playing guitar and sport is different, all you use is a wrist and fingers to play guitar, sport is more demanding on the body ( depending on the sport ) and american idol and all those shows have nothing to do with rock, thats all for the chart music shit scene, bands today still start in their garages or rehearsal rooms, and still have to gig like fuck before they get noticed, and that won't happen from playing backyard parties either!

this is horrid. Its not his age...its all the alcohol drug abuse. There are alot of 50+ year olds that can still shred. Ed pickeled his brain. If he went into true detox,quit smoking and had someone "retrain" his skills in about 2 years he would mezmerize again. I dont think hes clean either.

I choose to remember Van Halen as they were when I first saw them: Top of The World.

Hey! I believe Eddie has peaked higher and has contributed more to Rock than any other guitarist. IMO, Eddie had a chance to relive the original VH dream; He did not; That is why I did not go. (I grew up on Tour = New Music. Even VH does not get to change that equation for me.)
