@cuzgandalfgothigh99 your crazy, in fact all of you people who like this guy are crazy, he is a damned king, soulless and forever tormented by sauron, meaning he is in agonizing pain 24/7, you want to be tormented in brutal pain forever?
@dmoneyxd yeah, being an undead has its advantages but can be a pain in the ass for some, imagine not feeling anything, nor pain nor pleasure, living dead, a ghost, a shadow, stalking the earth... you have a point, the nazguls must'nt feel to good being slaves to sauron, but the power they have at the same time.. i guess its a fair deal for them.
@SidorakKing only song Ohne Dich, but it's all about your interpretation and vision. But, yup, this softer part is really good! Rammstein sound good when they sing. Otherwise - nah-ah. Ask me - X ray Dog is like it has being made for The Nine. And some songs of Shriekback, so as Requiem for a dream. To me, those songs match, and I am about to make one mine on synt. Hope it will go good.
@DarthBalrogTV Me too :( It's sad that even Tolkien didn't make their own stories, and they are some of most important characters. Even their names are forgotten :(
@hvg7067 Gotta hate those epic prophecies: "Do not pursue him! He will not return to these lands. Far off yet is his doom, and not by the hand of man will he fall." -Glorfindel
In the book, Gandalf never did get beaten up by the WK. In fact, he fought all nine Nazgul on weathertop and beat them up pretty bad before being forced to flee, and they're strongest when together. Also, a wizard's staff is just a symbol of authority, not his source of power. Saruman lost his power when his staff broke 'cause Gandalf was expelling him from the order of the istari. And even if Gandalf had lost his wizardly power, he'd still have his magic ring.
I have got to say that this video is so awesome!!! I heard this song before and i liked it (although i don't speak German) I love the Witch king of Angmar he has got to be one of my top fav villans of all time! Great video!!! :D

@TheDiamonian I make mine your words. Me and a friend of mine are writing a fan-fiction set on the Seventh Age, in which each of us is a character in the story. I am Angaur, a warrior of Gondor descending from Halbarad, and he is Haradan, a haradrim, and indirect descendent of the Witch-King of Angmar.
If the witch-king had been in army of darkness instead of bruce campbell, he would have gotteh shit done! He would ride through the skeletons and then at the end it would be like "Hail to the Witch-King baby." lol randomness
Gandalf-Maiar-Demi God-Gwaihir in Lórien healed him when he fell in fight with Balrog of Morgoth and also he gave him white robes so he came back in as Gandalf the White "more powerful"
Great metal band, eh? On this Gandalf vs Witch King discussion, I would only point out that the Lord of the Nazgul was more of an instrument of Sauron the Maia's power than a free agent, although his own power was significant on its own. The Nazgul's ability to project power is problematic, because they are not really present in this world except as shades. At the siege of Gondor the Witch King is basically acting as Sauron's surrogate.
@lebarosky Sir, I just wanted to thank you for such a well thought and written comment. Few people on YouTube bother neither with the thinking or the writing. :)
And yes, by the time the War of the Ring started, Sauron had "douped" Witch King, making him considerably stronger than what he had been previously. One can't really say what he was cabable of then. (Btw it's interesting how Tolkien characters can share with or pass to others their powers, such as Melian to Thingol.)
@teostere - Yep. Did you not see my sad face? I'm not happy about it, since Lusting after a make-believe character is unhealthy. PLUS, by admitting infatuation, I'm basically stabbing poor Frodo in the back...
No offense to Gandalf or anything but Witch King could of pwnd him anyday. As for that Eowyn bullshit she beat him out of luck she was staggering and shit, she's no warrior. The only person I thought who could of killed him was Sauron in his prime.
gandalf is a maiar true.. but the witchking is the heir of Sauron, the most mightiest maiar ever (even stronger than some of the valar ainurs). Perhaps Sauron allowed the nazgul gain more "witchcraft" than gandalf could ever dream of. (him upgrading to the white was more of a formal thing (( Saruman had already given up his place in the istari by becoming the colourfull)))
Ok, that was interesting. But I still wonder, if Gandalf was stronget than Witch King, how could Witch King break his staff? You may notice that after Gandalfs staff was no more, BLING no more magic tricks for him in the whole movie (or book), there are the facts I know. Also, if Gandalf was not allowed to fight Sauron directly or fight Witch King, why did he allow Witch King break his precious staff?
Great video!!! and btw: if Gandalf was stronger, how did Witch King break his staff (symbol of wizards strength) by just pulling his sword out? I think Gandalf is strong, but Witch King is even stronger, because no man can kill him and he holds both power of ancient ruins of Carn Dum (which I believe was originally part of Morgoths fortress) and sorcery of Minas Morgul ^^
I can't remember the name of the order, but Gandalf was less powerful than the witch kind as grey, when he was brought back to aid men he became more powerful (White, like saruman. Saruman was more powerful than Gandalf, Gandalf became Saruman) than him. Because he was sent back to aid men in fighting Sauron, not to fight him directly, he couldn't actually FIGHT the witch king.
Gandalf is stronger than the Witch king but is not allowed to use his full power. He was sent back to guide men to oppose Sauron, not oppose Sauron himself.
Witch king is immortal and is bound to the ring. The reason he got defeated was because the blade that the hobbit struck him with was made long ago when the Witch king ruled Angmar. The Nazgul were a big threat so they forged those blades. Angmar won anyway but the blades are still around.
some more things to know: witch king was about 6000 years old and probably numenorean descent, might have even been born at numenor. and those blades were kalled eket.
@Kekkiki Gandalf got fuck over by the witch king and if the witch king only lost cus the movie bad guy is dumb and will keep talking if he had of kill Gandalf before running to the fight and if he had of shut up well fighting the chick than he would of kicked some ass
@dragon2060 Gandalf only got "fucked over" by the Witch King because the bad guys needed some hero that was able to do anything in the movie. The only one stronger than Gandalf in the movies are Sauron himself, and he's not really around much. The Witch King is very weak compared to Gandalf.
@dragon2060 You are just a kid that watched the movie and then comes to conclusions in your little head. A simple google search will tell you the facts. Get an education, barbarian.
@Arcanavii ...and in the book also. But please don't use the movie as a reference. They're notoriously wrong on many points, which makes people misunderstand everything.
The witch king was the king of a kingdom called Angmar that was localized north of the shire close to the montains. If im not mistaken they got a war against the dunendain...
the witch-king became king of Angmar when he was a nazgul. before he was a nazgul i don`t know. and indeed the got a war against the dunedain of arnor
@Cassiobl There were several Balrogs, and I forget whether they were "summoned" or created by Morgoth but either way their whole purpose was to serve Morgoth...so they weren't 'corrupted', so to speak.
@Cassiobl Alright well it's been awhile since I read the Silmarillion so I need refreshing in terms of specific names, etc, but I meant that Balrogs were inherently evil. Are you saying there would have been benevolent Balrogs otherwise? Yes perhaps summoned was the wrong word, I meant they came from...like...outside the physical world...can't really explain it, again the silmarillion obviously describes the specific frames to which I am struggling to refer.
and one several unnamed that dwell far in the East.
Each of them had its own colours.
(until Gandalf died and had White colour as Saruman)
Curumo, the white wizard, was more commonly known as Saruman. He later claimed the title "Saruman of the Many Colours", after he was seduced by the evil power of Sauron.
Olórin, the grey wizard, was more commonly known as Gandalf.
Glorfindel is the mightiest warrior in Elrond's house, and one of the few that can openly ride against the Nine.
In the books, it was Glorfindel who met Aragorn and the hobbits in the wilderness and rode across the ford with Frodo. Glorfindel brings fear to all evil creatures, and the sight of him in his wrath was enough to make six of the Ringwraiths' horses jump into the raging waters of the Fords. He is second only to Elrond in Rivendell.
Glorfindel, is the Elf, what killed Morgoth, Morgoth summoned lot of Balrogs, but just one in Moria lived, other died, Morgoth also summoned Sauron, so Morgoth was a lot strongest than Sauron. I just cant wait on The Hobbit film release...
I think not. Most likely Gandalf the White would have some sort of edge. He fought 6 Nazgûl including the WK on Weathertop before Frodo got there, including the WK. (although the WK was stronger @ Pelennor Fields)
It's annoying how PJ made Gandalf look really weak, especially in the ROTK. He even had tears in his eyes at the B G when the Mouth of Sauron told him of Frodo's supposed captivity and that he was tormented. Completly laughable; it takes more than that to make a demi god cry.
From the movies the only power that gandalf has is making the roof look like a storm, removing sarumon from theodore, killing the balrog (which is commendable) and shining a light at the nazgul.
But he could definitely chase him away, that's clear. On Weathertop Gandalf, as Gandalf the Grey, faced all or almost all of the Nazgûl depending on which version you're looking at.
It's really a shame how Peter Jackson made Gandalf look just like an old man, and at times very weak. The real Gandalf was nothing like the such.
Gandalf is not a Man. He is an Istar - or Wizard - that took on the form of an old man, as was common in Istar, like Saruman. The Witch King was once a Man as well, but became a Ringwraith - basically a shadow of what he was. Also, the Nazgul were servants of Sauron, and held some of his power, I believe. They were also immortal and could not die of natural causes, so long as Sauron lived. So really, they are equally matched.
@GrievousII: Gandalf is man only by GENDER...by species he's a Maiar, like Sauron once was. i think the prophecy ment MAS as a GENDER which is why Eowyn, though belonging to ther RACE OF MEN, was able to kill him...because she was a WOMAN.
@ODOMAN123 Please learn to read mate. Let me type it out very nice for you:)
The witchking is one of the most powerfull characters in the movie. ("except" for gandalf and sauron ofc)
To make it more clearly for you Except means. Except is that he is NOT more powerfull than Gandalf. Next time if you want to correct me please read my comments before you post a comment=)
omfg this thing rocks. and to answer your question, naryanr, when aragon sticks the burning torch in the witchkings supposed head, he uses their weakness, they hate fire and light. and aragon don't defeat him, he merely chase him away, for like, five hours. part from that, when he destroys gandalf's staff, gandalf is like ten times more powerful than him, but he is not in his "true" form. if he were, all nazgul together wouldnt kill him off.
but now hes in human shape. so... he cant use powers=/
actually gothmog was only mentioned once in the whole series (not including the movies) and lurtz was just made for the movies so pretty much they are total background characters, now Glorfindel was a true badass
i dont think i remember him in the movies that much but he scared away the witch king, predicted his own death and did some other really amazing stuff
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
there's a number of things that don't make sense. first off, in the books gandalf says that the hobbits would not find a "more dangerous being than him save if they where to go to the throne of the black lord himself." in the film aragorn promptly chucks a burning stick at the witch king and defeats him (...?) THEN in rotk film, the witch king DEFEATS gandalf and destroys his staff in ONE blow, THEN LATER, gandalf seems to have found a NEW staff to play with FLOATING AROUND IN THE HAVENS 0_o

Gandalf is a Maia, the Witch king can't be killed by no man and the discussion goes on and on..

MsXizan 2 years ago
Gandalf came to ME about a thousand years into the third age. The evil kingdom of Angmar was founded in the year 1300.
And yes Gandalf was more powerful than the WK, by far. It's just Peter Jackson that messed up.
LimesNorrlandicus 2 years ago
the nazguls was first humans and kings but sauron give them nine rings of power and they fall into the darkenss and become ringwraiths
TheHunter998 2 years ago
Sounds like the Deathnights and Arthas from WoW tbh.
EthanDoesBmx 2 years ago
@EthanDoesBmx Well, Arthas as the Lich King is the WoW-Version of the Witch King.
The Witch King was first, so the Lich king is only a copy of him...w/e lich king is cool, too^^

Most BAD ASS character from the trilogy.

i dont think that morgoth summoned sauron. i think sauron was his apprentice. maybe i am wrong
kojak912 2 years ago
Yes, he was a maia like Melian, Gandalf, Saruman but got corrupted by Melkor becoming Sauron... same happened to Ungoliant and the Balrog.
Cassiobl 2 years ago 2
@Cassiobl There were several Balrogs, and I forget whether they were "summoned" or created by Morgoth but either way their whole purpose was to serve Morgoth...so they weren't 'corrupted', so to speak.
lukkus 1 year ago
@lukkus Nop, the only creation of Morgoth was the dragon Glaurung... balrog was maiar spirits that Morgoth corrupted. Summoned from where ?
Cassiobl 1 year ago
@Cassiobl Alright well it's been awhile since I read the Silmarillion so I need refreshing in terms of specific names, etc, but I meant that Balrogs were inherently evil. Are you saying there would have been benevolent Balrogs otherwise? Yes perhaps summoned was the wrong word, I meant they came from...like...outside the physical world...can't really explain it, again the silmarillion obviously describes the specific frames to which I am struggling to refer.

And for the Istari,
There were 4 Istari wizards
Saruman The White(Corumo)
Gandalf The Grey(Olórin)
Radagast the Brown(Aiwendil)
and one several unnamed that dwell far in the East.
Each of them had its own colours.
(until Gandalf died and had White colour as Saruman)
Curumo, the white wizard, was more commonly known as Saruman. He later claimed the title "Saruman of the Many Colours", after he was seduced by the evil power of Sauron.
Olórin, the grey wizard, was more commonly known as Gandalf.

and Morgoth's originnaly name is Melkor.

He is second only to Elrond in Rivendell.
for you geoffknomm.
Eccthelion 2 years ago
Glorfindel, is the Elf, what killed Morgoth, Morgoth summoned lot of Balrogs, but just one in Moria lived, other died, Morgoth also summoned Sauron, so Morgoth was a lot strongest than Sauron. I just cant wait on The Hobbit film release...

i think that the witch king would've killed gandalf if rohan didn't come
Luukjuh13 2 years ago 5
I think not. Most likely Gandalf the White would have some sort of edge. He fought 6 Nazgûl including the WK on Weathertop before Frodo got there, including the WK. (although the WK was stronger @ Pelennor Fields)
It's annoying how PJ made Gandalf look really weak, especially in the ROTK. He even had tears in his eyes at the B G when the Mouth of Sauron told him of Frodo's supposed captivity and that he was tormented. Completly laughable; it takes more than that to make a demi god cry.
LimesNorrlandicus 2 years ago 3
I feel that too.
From the movies the only power that gandalf has is making the roof look like a storm, removing sarumon from theodore, killing the balrog (which is commendable) and shining a light at the nazgul.

How could Gandalf ever defeat the witch king? He is a man and therefore can't harm the lord of the Nazgûl.
GrievousII 2 years ago
But he could definitely chase him away, that's clear. On Weathertop Gandalf, as Gandalf the Grey, faced all or almost all of the Nazgûl depending on which version you're looking at.
It's really a shame how Peter Jackson made Gandalf look just like an old man, and at times very weak. The real Gandalf was nothing like the such.
LimesNorrlandicus 2 years ago 2
Gandalf is not a Man. He is an Istar - or Wizard - that took on the form of an old man, as was common in Istar, like Saruman. The Witch King was once a Man as well, but became a Ringwraith - basically a shadow of what he was. Also, the Nazgul were servants of Sauron, and held some of his power, I believe. They were also immortal and could not die of natural causes, so long as Sauron lived. So really, they are equally matched.
simgod28 2 years ago
Gandalf is not man...try to read a part of Silmarillion: Rings of Power in the Third Age (or how is this part called). ;-)
sunraysofdawn 2 years ago
@GrievousII mate...Gandalf isnt a man, hes a Maia.
zXTJXz 2 years ago
@GrievousII: Gandalf is man only by GENDER...by species he's a Maiar, like Sauron once was. i think the prophecy ment MAS as a GENDER which is why Eowyn, though belonging to ther RACE OF MEN, was able to kill him...because she was a WOMAN.

Good Gid, I;ve stirred up a monster of a debate over what Gandalf and the With King were. That wasn't my intention.

omfg this thing rocks. and to answer your question, naryanr, when aragon sticks the burning torch in the witchkings supposed head, he uses their weakness, they hate fire and light. and aragon don't defeat him, he merely chase him away, for like, five hours. part from that, when he destroys gandalf's staff, gandalf is like ten times more powerful than him, but he is not in his "true" form. if he were, all nazgul together wouldnt kill him off.
but now hes in human shape. so... he cant use powers=/

there's a number of things that don't make sense. first off, in the books gandalf says that the hobbits would not find a "more dangerous being than him save if they where to go to the throne of the black lord himself." in the film aragorn promptly chucks a burning stick at the witch king and defeats him (...?) THEN in rotk film, the witch king DEFEATS gandalf and destroys his staff in ONE blow, THEN LATER, gandalf seems to have found a NEW staff to play with FLOATING AROUND IN THE HAVENS 0_o
