Obviously the pixel density is higher if it's smaller but has the same resolution. Or maybe it has the same width but is not as high in order to make it widescreen, and that's why it's 27" and not 30". If the latter is true, then they have the same pixel density.

you really should compare display to display. matte is better to me, it gives a more real representation of colors without the issue of reflection. do you feel like in your workflow the extra 160 pixels play a role (for instance the dock). How is the life of the display's backlight?

And lastly, obviously it has a higher pixel density its a 27" with the same horizontal pixel count...

You just compared a Mac Pro connected to a 30" ACD to a 27" iMac, do a better comparison...

I'd not consider the 30" monitor to be a cinema display because it has an aspect ratio of 16:10 and is more suited for gaming. Personally, I think the 27" display is more like a cinema display because of its aspect ratio of 16:9.

I'd take the 30 matte for photo editing over the glossy glarey 27 any day of the week. Nothing worse then editing on a glossy screen HATE IT WITH A PASSION !!!

Personally, I think that a Cinema Display running Snow Leopard would win any appearance test, HANDS DOWN! Snow Leopard is the most colorful, best looking system on the market, 64 bit :D

Leopard looks a little more dull.

Of course, I'm running on a 21" iMac. 1080p here. A 27 would be nice though.

I must find out from the dealer ( sorry...reseller ) if an Imac can be calibrated for photography like a standard display. I admit though, perhaps going matte rather than glossy is the sensible thing to do for photos and publishing

For the price of one Apple 30" at $1799 w/tax $1,972.41, I can buy two 27" inch LED Cinema at $2,172.83 so for $200 from the 30" inch i can have a dual 27" inch setup for the same price of one 30" inch, Apple should of lowered the 30 inch to $1299 and I don't know why they don't do that but anyways I'm planning to pick up a 27" inch LED next month for $999 not buying the 30" inch for $1799 it's just not worth the price

@34skyline the 27" display does not have the resolution of the 30" display. The 30" display will have a better quality picture. I have a 30" display hooked up to my mac pro and its amazing, But I still cant wait for the 27" to come out so I can hook up my macbook to it.

@Rlnthndr but I will not pay $1799 for Apple's 30", Dell's new 30" IPS u3011 that is going to release in october has better spec's then Apple's 30" and Dell is going to sale it for $1299 same as HP zr30w on Amazon there going for $1213 but if Apple lowered it too $1199-$1299 then I will buy the 30 inch instead of the 27" but for $1799 w/tax $1956.41 for Apple 30" I can buy two 27" LED $999 each and with just $200 more and have a dual LED setup the 27" is a better deal over the 30" in my opinion

@Rlnthndr Apple's 30" is awesome display but like I said before it's not worth $1900 for something that's going to be discontinued, Apple should of took the time and revised the price on the 30" like Apple did with 24" LED, All this is just my opinion I've been waiting for 2yrs for apple to update their 30" inch and came to find out their going to be discontinued and replace it with a 27" LED but good news rumors are Apple is coming out with a 30 LED but in 2012 but i'm not waiting that long
