The problem is the water isn't the power it is the dissolving zinc. Copper at one end, zinc at the other and the water is the "wire" not the power source. The electrons come from the dissolving zinc. Once the zinc is gone it's done and in the landfill, not so 'Green". The running without water thing is because of a capacitor, that allows you time to change the water. Wouldn't the truth be more interesting advertising?
not chemist here, but I'm not exactly sure the measily LCD display (think of LCD on your casio watch) will last as long as a AAA battery, as the chemical catalyst required to extract the electric ion will wear out sooner. Cool still though. Thumbs up if you agree.
