  • Love this band very much! Thanks for have posted it !

  • great song, great live version too mark's playing on this is great shows that he his not just a slap mechant but is an amazing finger style player too.

  • my favourite version of this song ever

  • Fantastic song from a truly fantastic band.

  • Ki az, akinek nem tetszik ez a szám? Jöjjön ide, megütöm.

  • My favorite Level 42 song! So well done!

  • How can anyone dislike this song

  • Stunningly awesome, this gets better everytime I play this...all elements of this song are perfect...album and this live version....and a great bassline to learn and play too...

  • Sorry, meant to write...is the 1991 Guaranteed concert available on dvd? Thanks!

    Please email me : dantheman_90028@yahoo.com

  • Is his concert available on dvd...haven't seen it on ebay.

  • Mark King is my favorite funk bassist. :-D

  • I wish I had that bass. That Alembic sounds awesome. It still sounds like Mark King no matter what he plays. What's more difficult, playing like Mark King or being able to afford an Alembic like that. At this point both are dreams for me. I've been listening to him since the early 80's. Never ceases to amaze me. He would sound great with a washtub, a stick and a srting.

  • There are two more songs I cannot find that were recorded in the UK only. right with 'Sleep On My Heart'. e-mail to lathanrhonda45@yahoo.com if anyone knows. Mark King has to be the best bass player I've ever heard. Groove On Guys!

  • I love this song, but actually what is it about? Random question I know, from a fan.

  • @MrHaithwaite1992 I think it is about how the adults lose their innocence when they get older.

  • Greats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I would say this is my favorite band. These guys just groove. Mark and the guys are killer.

  • sO GREAT !!!!

  • ♫♪♩ Formidable la bonne humeur de cette musique et de ces musiciens...Merci oui ♥♫♪

  • Fantastic!!!

  • ...schon unglaublich gut....

  • The only bass player that I know that can sing and play a mean bass at the same time. Mark is definitely one of my favorite and inspirational bass players.

  • I really love this into. The old songs are always the best of "42"!!!

  • Just stunning.

  • Great band....i think when i still 13 years old back then in 1991 these guys had already amazed me in 1987 european MTV when their hits are amongts the best ever pop in the entire western hemisphere. The beauty and the feeling are second to none until this very day......they should be awarded more than those stupid fucking pricks of mtv awards like justin and britney sh**tey

  • Brilliant. These guys have mastered the art of song writing. This piece could not have been any better.

  • I LOOOOVE Mikes falsetto!!!

  • surf and enjoy, so cool, relaxing.

  • Great bassist , perfect voice and BRILLIANT BAND !!! : )

  • Mike Lindrup's voice sounds real bad in this...and they don't need the female back up either..

  • Perfection. Brilliant musicians and great song. Love it :)

  • the kolbola is the!

  • Extraklasse Liveversion! Hört sich einfach spitze an, danke!

  • Love Gary's tom's and the way he delays the start crashing around his symbals waiting for Mark to sort his bass tunes out! Magic!

  • saw them last year when i was 14 with my dad ive grown up with these guys, love their music

  • Easily one of the best renditions of this all time L42 classics. I have the original VCR and keep it under lock and key!!!

  • Thanks for posting this video. Fine, fantastic...

  • Such a great intro to this song. Saw them on this tour and saw Mark on his own a few years ago. Level 42 are touring this year (UK) with Mike on keys!

  • I am officially the Number 1 fan!

    Don't anyone doubt that!

  • I'm officially officially the number 1 fan!

Me and Mark have had some great times together, he came to mine last week for a picnic in the garden

  • @markymarkking and John Thirkell on the trumpet!!

    Don't forget Johnny!!

  • awesome bass!! - King IS King

  • a brilliant version of this old classic,,,not sure who played the original lead guitar on this cos it came out around the time that the original line up split,,,,, brilliant track from a brilliant band

  • The Original Line up played on this song, they just didn't appear in the video (Probably shot months after the song was finished, mixed and mastered)

  • That was REALLY good....

  • One of my L42 favourites. Biliant band & music.

  • Brilliant. MK is the best bassist that ever lived.

  • @eat911t jaco and him are there equal

  • @eat911t what about john taylor??

  • @eat911t What about Bootsy?

  • The first time I saw LEVEL 42 was in 1987 when they opened up for Madonna at Anaheim stadium.

  • I know of somebody who was at the same gig. He said that Level 42 were amazing and Mark was really friendly with the audience. Contrast with Madonna - went on stage late and totally sucked.

  • Thank you taking me back to the late 80's when Level 42 was "King" and life was a little more less stressful. Oh, to see these chaps over in the States just once...

  • No lie, Level 42 played a free concert in downtown Dallas (West End) October 5, 1987 and I was 15...I practically BEGGED my mom to let me go...I wonder if anyone else here saw that show. Anyway, I guess that was right before Phil & Boon left the band because Boon was ill. I was only a few feet from the stage. That was probably the best night of my life...amazing show!!

  • mark is amazing !!1 i met him back in 1986 , in new haven ,ct usa . they were all very nice !!! i wish they all original members would reunite !!!

  • holy hell this is fantastic!! LEVEL 42, PLEASE BE TOURING NEXT AUGUST IN ENGLAND!!! i'm coming to see you guys!

  • thank you, great video, great King...

  • Yeh this is the best live version of this old track i have ever seen LEVEL 42 with the original second line up mike lindup adds so much to many of their best hits and it has truly revived their second coming long live level 42

  • Best popsong Level 42 ever made.

This concerts is, in my opinion, one of the best concerts Level 42 ever made.

Great musicians on tour, also the horn-section and of course, Gary Husband, the "animal" on drums... ;-))

Annie McCaig on backing vocals...good old times...

    Fantastic!!!

    Thx for posting !!!

  • Totally agree with you.... SUPERB!!!!

  • Ah great, at 1:10 when Mark has finished tuning and Gary starts to thump his drums, i am back in music heaven.

  • he calls this an old song? it's only 4/5 years old overhere... guaranteed was the first album after running in the family xD great song though, i love to sing along!

  • lovley band of live music.the drummer gets busy @2:37.

  • L42 MEXICO LOVE YOU!!!

  • ¡Así es!Bueno,al menos tu y yo :P

  • I love the lead singers voice..What is his name? I have been a fan since running in the family, i really should alreay know!!

  • yes, you should already know ;)

    He is Mark King.

  • LOL, thanks so much for sharing that with me. Good info.. :-)

  • I didn't know until yesterday. I was just blown away by every song of theirs I've heard from time to time, wondering who they were.

  • Cuando será el día que vengan a Chile aunque sea Mark King solo

  • ramon709 totally agree with you there mate. The Alembic days were the best, The status basses are shite, it doesnt sound authentic lev 42

  • the last big tour they did...and proud to say i was there! and also the last years that mark king had a great bass sound. the status he plays on now sucks...sound like a guitar :/ mostly treble and fretnoise.

but still, MK rulez for ever! :)

  • what a mother of a drummer...very different from Phil Gould, but very very tasty. awesome

  • Gary Husband was not a particular favourite with a lot of Level 42 fans as a replacement for Phil Gould. Why that is I don't really understand because you're right, he's a great drummer. Check out lots of Gary's jazz stuff with other musicians. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

  • CLASS!

  • Amazing band. Always loved the drummer and bass player. I discovered their "Running in the Family" record back in 1986 and still love listening to it today.

  • Lovin the bass line at the beginning of the song - fantastic

  • Love the way Mark King changes the bass line on the first two riffs.. The guy is an amazing bass player, amazing musician... Thanx for posting..

  • One my fav bands. In the US... I don't know too many who know about level 42. The music scene really sucks here these days.

  • @orlandofriend Your not wrong bro!!

  • Retroglide has REALLY grown on me. It's good stuff. Every time they have a lineup change, it takes some getting used to, but it's different. That's the great thing about them, they don't stagnate.

  • Anybody checked out Retroglide yet? If your a Level 42 fan you'll dig it! God I love this band, ever since "True Colors" Level has been a part of some of my fondest memories! Now they're back together and touring Europe, I'd kill to see them once again in the states!

  • Children say children say...

    I love it!

  • one of the greatest bands ever. love this song . first time seeing the live version of this song.. have to say love it more now as i did then.. Mark King is a great lyricist. Level 42 is still one of my all time favorite group.. Im from the U.S. and here i can say sleep on music like this. We need more type of music like this today..Songs with feelings and melodies that just stick in ur head. Thank u to the person that uploaded this on here.. Love this Version!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi Ric, it's great to hear that America has fans of great music like this too. I'm 15, and have been a fan since the age of 5! I think you'll find that these lyrics were written by the band's orginal drummer, Phil Gould (not featured in this video), but nonetheless they are great.

  • BITCHIN! TO BE! the emotion from Mike Lindup kicks arse, though the backup seems robotic, almost like The Chant Has Begun, also a great song. Bill

  • Cant get bored of this song,,WOW

  • I have to agree completely, the best version ever of Children say. And I will say probably the best ever Level 42 line up. Background vocals here are more sharp than today with Nathan and Sean

  • well my friend i have to agree with you there ... Annie McCaig s vocals are just amazing ... and so is Jakko J. (dont ask me to spell it lol) .. this song as always been one of my personal faves but anything from RITF is :)xx

  • My mouth is hanging open. Stunning intro and version of this song!!

  • i agree. This performance is sublime. Had the vid running in the background (just listening while another window was open) and sounded utterly brilliant as a track in itself.

  • Can never get enough of watching this one, LOVE the tune, always have, this just makes it even better. Thank you Mark King and L42, you've made me hum all day now, lol.

  • Best live version of children say ever, Also on this video is the best version of Mr pink,, some 1 please upload it,,its fucking GRRRRRRRRR8

  • Never saw this version before. Really great live sound. Nice melodic intro and outro

  • Oh wow i LOVE this ...This is one of my faves from RITF!! i like this even more then the original recording ! Thank you so much for posting this :) ..

  • This is AWESOME!!!!!! This is one of my favorites, right up there with Something About You, LOVE this version as well. WOW!!!

  • I m glad you like it as well .. i love all the songs from that album though .. that year was the year i saw them live so maybe thats why lol :)

  • Mark King rules bass period, and Mike Lindup? he should be careful in airport bathrooms because as a keyboard and vocal guy he kicks serious arse and Republican Senators would love to date him here in the US, I would recommend my defense, poop in a bag, you see a hand waving in your stall, dump the saved poop in their hand, works great! though reloading the bag is inconvenient at best

  • A beautiful version of this song, thanks for sharing.
