  • Friday Night Videos.

  • @fttp21 I know what you mean, but "What I Like About You" was my generation's most popular song, right or wrong. Radio played what was safe. It's much worse now, is not? Great observation though - this song is incredible.

  • I wanna be at that malt shop!!!!

  • good tune, bit of ska in there

  • Reminded me of another song from the 80s, couldn't think what it was, driving me crazy, then I got it! Listen to Cyndi Lauper/Prince 'When You Were Mine' - sound familiar? Or maybe I really am going crazy...

  • lead singer looks like a cross between billy joel and sylvester stallone...odd combo

  • I could listen to this over and over all day long... I think i will.

  • ♫♫♫♫♫Beautiful music, super))) Bravo))))♫♫♫♫♫

  • Oh man, I love the 80's.

  • Girls in those 80's sweaters, that's what I miss =)

  • lol it's funny that 0:25 looked "cool" back then

  • As a 13 year old kid that image at 0:12 burned in my psyche forever LOL...great tune.

  • @TheSRalston I like that girl too.

  • @TheSRalston

Agreed! That gyrating ass was (and still is) awesome! I was 17-18 when this came out.

  • Big poofy hair-dos, will you ever come back?

  • Some of the best 80s hair. Also see Cat's Can Fly and Frozen Ghost!

  • And my teenage sons wonder why I say the girls in the 80s were the hottest ever.

  • VAYA PEDAZO MELON!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • greatest xylophone solo ever

  • Great song, but that's one absolutely amazing guitar solo

  • The Romantics hit #37 in Billboard, 4-7-84. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • wow its been atleast 25 years since i last saw this video!

  • and to think, the jukeboxes we have today are only in Pizza huts and low class diners...

    and they are completely different.

  • prince ripped this off - 'when you were mine' ?

  • I hate to rain on anybody's parade......

But the hot chick by the juke box is probably a grandma by now and weighs about 300 lbs.

(Not knocking the video. I love the Romantics!)

  • @MrKansasDave He married her. That was his girlfriend at the time.

  • The lead singer is totally creepin. lol

  • where r they now?

  • fluffy hair!

  • Is this time travel or what? Only had dim memories of seeing this on MTV - thanks for posting!

  • isn't that a perfect ass at the beginning?

  • @Lukesinew yes, yes it is. that ass is the proof that there is a god somewhere

    and that he's male

  • @Lukesinew

    Yes, it is! Awesome!

  • @Lukesinew Lovely butt

  • @Lukesinew Damn I laughed so loud my wife look at me haha

  • @Lukesinew perfect body!

  • @Lukesinew YES!!!

  • Does anyone else notice that he lisps?

  • Comment removed

  • The 80s was an age where your hair was a canvas.

  • It's funny to think that this what was called hot back then. If guys and girls dressed like in a music video now, it wouldn't even make for a good paraody.

  • that girl in red at :47 is hot :D

  • @dommyshan The girl in the background in red? She appears a few times throughout the video. Her name is Pam. I went to high school with her. Seriously.

  • @dommyshan She'd be 49 years old now. LOL.

  • Go do yourselves a favor and buy this right now on iTunes or better yet get the CD or vinyl!

  • I mean I AM a radio guy tha digs the 70 and 80s. These iPads type words of their own. Anyway, I'll be diggin the show hopefully I can chat with them for my show.

  • Yep, I'm here at the Rio and I remember these guys when I was driving around in my Trans Am. I hope I can interview them tonight as I am not a radio guy that digs the 70 and 80's. Cool

  • Great song, and one that's never played on the radio anymore; oldies stations suck because the they play the same 50 songs over and over.

  • Romantics here in Vegas Monday night Rio Hotel/Casino....I'll be there. check out my channel, I'm a songwriter and write songs like we used to like. Dave

  • 2:35 were girls in the 80's hot or what??

  • Ahh March 1984. What a great time. I'm amazed that this fun song only got to number 37. It's still one of my very favorites from that time.

  • @GunnyDeuce I don't get it either and I was a child of the 80s too and loved these guys! They deserved a far better placing than they got! Better than any crap Lady Gagme puts out and that bitch gets #1? BS to that! :-/

  • 28 people have smaller hair than The Romantics!!

  • I like this song a lot -.-

  • Why the hell do I have to watch this great video and at the same time that bitch from hannah montana??'--"

  • the drummers hair reminds me of sonic

  • One great thing about 80s pop songs is almost all were around 4 minutes long. Perfect length.

  • Great song live! I've seen them 30+times! But when are you guy's gonna get back original drummer Jimmy Marinos?? That's when you guy's really rocked!! 96' House of Blues ring any bells? Keep on rockin!!

  • I use to just LUUUUUV this video! Fun cute song, ♫ ♪ ♫ ♩ ♬ ♭(and I had a big crush on the lead vocalist 'Wally Palmer' with those big blue puppy eyes ♥ hee-hee-heee)...★ ✩ ✮ ✯ ✰ ☆ ⋆ ✡

  • OH MY GOSH!! THE HAIR!!! Every era has its thing...and the hair always seems to stand out every time. WOW!! That's so funny. But the songs are still cool...just close your eyes. ha ha..it probably sounds better than it looks!!! I look back at pics of me...and used to have a very curly perm for awhile. It's all good...we get over it. ha ha

  • @Muffett53 Wally's hair is naturally curly like Roger Daltrey. He straightens it sometimes. When The Romantics perform during summer months, the humidity often wrecks his hairstyle.

  • @hectorsalinasisback Oh...I understand that....I have a natural wave in my hair...and one of my sons has VERY curly hair. It looks like that if he lets it grow. I know how the humidity can affect it. But the styles then were that big hair look. I remember how the girls did their hair like that also. Now my hair is curlier. I don't do perms.

  • what if Ne-Yo had a hair like that ?

  • If only the Jonas Brothers were as...

  • Back when MTV & AOR were totally the coolest things one earth.

  • that hair.....

  • I will say I had friends who would insist you were the girl from the Valley Girl movie, but I could see a difference. No offense to her, but you were better looking. Let me ask you this, I dont know if you are married (I could bet my life you arent single) when you first met up with your husband/boyfriend at the time, did his eyes roll like a slot machine when he first saw you? Now be honest :)

  • @MrAxeEdent Funny question! :) Actually, the first time I had lunch with my husband his eyes were really BIG the whole time we were at the restaurant, like he was nervous looking at me. We still laugh about that.

  • I wonder how many cans of aquanet hairspray were used to make this video...

  • @KarmaCollin i totally actually bust out laughing

  • Notice how confident Wally Palmar looks wearing his tweed jacket with leather pants at the diner. The girls go crazy over him and for good reason.

  • @fttp21 Yes..... that's me.

  • Holy shit, why do you have to talk about Justin Bieber in all the youtube videos???! Fuck off, talk about rock in a rock band video!

  • Is that a family of sparrow's I see nesting in his hair?

  • Did the lead singer have a lisp? Kind of looked like it...

  • How the hell did they get their hair that high???!!!!

  • Why is it that when I tease my hair up to be like The Romantics, my sink drain gets clogged with a hairball?

  • im hungry for a milkshake now.... T-T

  • @mikalika125

    Thanks!

  • LOLOL I remember this song... hahaha OMG bad video..lolol

  • Detroit

  • FUNKY HAIR!!!

  • You dont see too many chicks like that today. No offense, but women in the 80s looked and dressed classy. Its just an opinion and we all are entitled to them. Thumbs up to the women of that decade :)

  • Wally's lisp is so friggin' cute...

  • Apesta esta canción.

  • After all these years I realize how wimpy those detroit bands were. BSA, TOBY, THESE GUYS ECT.

  • @VoiajorBRAZILIA Seriously, let the Bieber jokes die. They're more annoying than who they mock.

  • @SuperGamer87 Justin Bieber sucks!

  • @Ferndawg1962 Aint tht funny how we invision everyone that hates great tunes like this as Justin lovers?

  • The verse sounds a fair bit like When You Were Mine by Prince. Same chord progression for it, whether in the same key or not.

  • Great Song!!! We need music like this today in 2011 please. This hip hop crap has to stop. Bring back the classics!!!

  • Yeah - I like about 30% of the Pop music today - and 90% of 90's and today's Alternative music. That's about it. Country was great in the 80's and 90's and some in the last decade.

  • Yeah - I like about 30% of the Pop music today - and 90% of 90's and today's Alternative music. That's about it. Country was great in the 80's and 90's and some in the last decade. I loved 82 - 88 Pop and Alternative music!

  • Boy, at the time their hair did not look wild, but it does now!

  • @n0gar I often wonder what we were thinking.

  • one of my favorite new wave pop songs of the 80's, still can't figure out that instrument used in this song, sounds like a marimba

  • @TheMetalVagabond I always thought it was a xylophone....am I way off? Maybe it really IS milshake tins!

  • saw the lead singer wally palmer last summer with ringo starr and his all-star band wally still rocks

  • In was a kid in the 70's, a teenager in the early 80's, graduated 1983 high school, wow..... I would not trade any of my awsome memories for a (one in a million dollars) . I am a songwriter, check out my songs on my channel. A mixture of pop/new wave, and rock....luv this video!

  • @destroyerofSouls666 I agree 100% we were very fortunite to have grwon up during that time. I do miss the 80's

  • @clozloz69

you guys can at least say you grow up in that time, I on the other hand have to grow up with crappy music and people who just say ass titties bitch horny and call it lyrics.

    you guys are real lucky

  • I love this song! Posting to my website soon!

  • 1983, was the beginning of all things that rocked during the 80s. That's when the core of everything we have come to know as cool and everything that we miss began. 1983 through 1989 I'd want to be my Groundhog Years.

  • 2010 Music sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Night Ranger and Romantics sound like Mozart compared to the Sh*t today.

  • @Sapexec so true and have you notice how they continue to sample 80's classic that an injustice to plenty of great songs.

  • Brings back a lot of fun memories and it was a great song to jam to with being pretty much a three cord song. It's just a fun song for any band to play and it never failed to get people out on the floor to dance.

  • This song is Beautiful!!! Epic 3:50 min of Awesomeness

  • Hey... she 's the same chick from A-ha's "Take On Me" lol

  • @Manwithjeep Not the same girl, but thanks just the same :)

  • @tamrakat I was just kidding. Were you in any other music videos? This style of music was so refreshing after living most of my teen years in the disco era. :c)

  • @Manwithjeep

No, that was the only one. Had lots of fun making it!!! :)

  • @tamrakat Are you the brunette in this video? If so, im sure you have squadrons of men that melt over you. No offense, but you HAVE to have tons of guys that just wanted to see you face to face

  • @MrAxeEdent I'm the redhead that walks toward the camera with the milkshake. Peach sweater, white pants, turquoise shoes....

  • @tamrakat Sorry about the hair color mistake.........anyway, at least I can say I got a response from a famous person :)

  • @MrAxeEdent Well, I haven't been famous in a long time. That was my Andy Warhol moment: my 15 minutes of fame. It was very cool to be a part of it. And the guys in the band were so cool and nice. Not stuck up at all.

  • @tamrakat Thats great about not being stuck up or self-centered. Fame and fortune gets to some people and they think that they are the elite of the human race. Anyway, I have always liked that song and you were a good choice to have in it. Whats it like knowing that you are in a video that is watched on YouTube and from a famous band? Do people ask for your autograph?

  • @MrAxeEdent Well, right after the video came out I did get a lot of attention, and when I would go out dancing people kept thinking I was the girl in the Valley Girl movie or the A-ha video, both of which are very flattering! But no one ever asked for my autograph, except once after a beauty pageant. But I was with Wally one day at a movie when some kids asked for his autograph, and he was very nice about it and gave them all his autograph.

  • I was the redhead with the milkshake. And thank you again!

  • @tamrakat Very cool! A fitting choice, too!

  • @cliffordsville Thank you!!!

  • @tamrakat Was curious to know how you got the video gig. It is a cool legacy to have and a neat bit of rock 'n' roll to be a part of!

  • @cliffordsville My agency sent me on the interview. There were all these tall, beautiful girls with great portfolios with pictures from New York and Europe. I thought I didn't have a chance, but fortunately, they were looking for shorter girls, and I'm just under 5'6". Hurray for shorter models!!! Yes, it is a very cool legacy to be a part of. I'm so glad people still like this video and the Romantic's music.

  • I write music like we used to like... see my music video for 80's Girl here on youtube. Romantics my top 3 fav bands of all time! I see them everytime they come here to vegas......Awsome!! check my channel for cool songs and videos

  • woah...his hair is big

  • 80"s were Good Times

  • good ol days....80's forever!!!!

  • Excellent song - my favorite by the band!

  • Wish I had a time machine to go back to those wonderful years.

  • @fttp21...that's right..she wrote me back when I thought that was deborah foreman.

  • This should be a Guitar Hero song

  • This is a great song. It took me a long time to figure out what song it sounds like, but I just figured it out: Prince's "When You Were Mine".

  • @baconpatroller Yes, I just posted saying the same thing and now I read your post. For the verse.

  • the drummer is the coolest!

  • I'd die for their hair!!

  • Excellent song And an excellent guitar solo only wish it was longer, its great nontheless!

  • Comment removed

  • Actually, the FOX in the video isn't Debbie Foreman. I don't recognize her, BUT I think her first name is Tamra. My favorite ROMANTIC was Jimmy Marinos, the drummer!

  • @Mesiha1 The drummer left after this album. If I was the other members,I would've put the focus more on him because he alot of sex appeal-but I get the vibe they didn't want him to get the attention-probably egos-from a business standpoint, not a good idea! That guy was a babe magnet!

  • @chipsperry i'll always love his performance in "what i like about you". the romantics were edgier then!

  • Good song it was a hit in my country Peru'

  • well i'm 13 now..and my classmates laugh at me when im listening to 80's music...i

guess they don't know the meaning of great music...

  • @JeLo2332 - don't let them get to you, as long as you're enjoying the music that's all that matters. I was in high school in the 80's and I wouldn't trade that experience for all the money in the world. And just remember, as your friends get older the music they're listening to now will also be old and the next generation will make fun of them. :)
