Excellent car! I will have to take exception on that scoop though. The only problem I have with these "B" body cars is being nose heavy. This is why they burn out, and drift so nicely (any car with this horsepower will roast tires at will) I have seen these raced on local dirt tracks; they are either weight ballasted in the rear, or they fail to stay on the track,! They can leave the highway if being driven aggressively on a winding road for the same reason. I recently sold my 72 Roadrunner.

probably ran it on methanol or something. although, with setups they got out today, its not really necessary to run 110 octane to get 700-900 hp out of a car. you science out the motor well enough, you can get by with 94. i got a buddy building a stroker 440. proper heads cam, intake and exhaust, hes looking at like 600-700. & thats with a mild cam.

The Ray Barton Hemi packs quite a punch and it does 8.73 on the quarter mile. We are retooling it with a proper powerglide newxt week (will be nice to use the transbrake for something else than backing up).

It is not backfiring. It is called a high lift & duration cam. The motors with cams like that do not idle well they smooth out once the rpms come up. Made for racing.

I have had vehicles like this, That hemi is running a pretty aggressive cam. I would guess the idle is pushing 1000rpm? If running an automatic transmission, this car would need a high stall speed torque converter, or the car would not say stopped at idle, and it might scatter a clutch pack when put into gear.

I took my DR-license in this car earlier this year. It was .... interesting to say the least :) It ran on 7 cylinders though in the last run. The following weekend the gearbox went to bits and peices. The charger is under heavy maintanence during this winter. Will kick some ass around the dragstrips next summer :)

I've driven 440 cars that don't have nearly as much torque or horsepower that run in the 10 second margin. Something along the lines of a bout 500 horsepower with tires that size could do that burnout at 1/2 throttle or less. He wasn't on it at all.
