The tragic truth is that the Georgian government is partly lowering the image of Georgian wine. Maybe not willingly but it often happens. Than there are so many low quality exports to Russia, of course beating Russian wine, but still not what you would call "Georgian Wine"

Russian government considers Georgian mineral waters such as Borjomi and Wines such as Khvanchkava poisonious(obviously on political reasonings) so enjoy the VODKA and let people who appreciate the real wine enjoy the best quality wines from Georgia!!!

The fertile valleys of the South Caucasus, which Georgia straddles, are believed by many archaeologists to be the source of the world's first cultivated grapevines and neolithic wine production, over 7000 years ago.

Kvanchakara and Kindzmareuli are my favorite (I like the sweeter wines). For those that like a bit more dry should try the Saperavi. Amazing.

I believe the Greeks had wine in 1200 BC and Georgia is was civilized around 500 BC. I'm fairly certain the Greeks or any earlier culture first made wine and not Georgians.

@atx4runner mate, you need to educate yourself a bit more. Georgia is the cradle of civilized europe. First forms of communities, weapons and developed craftsmanship were founded there, before the tribes spread further to the north into Russia and a bit of Asia and to the west, including Greece. Georgia was divided into two kingdoms in 1.600 BC and wine was a normal result of earliest agriculture since 5.000 BC in Georgia, Caucasus and Persia.

Most of the written is fictional, offensive, rather discriminating and self-exaggarating against the other cultures around them. Plus, a lot of documents about these cultures are gone, went lost during numerous wars and conflicts.
