@MaMowe Use cotton balls soaked in acetone to take off the wax layer on leather shoes. you want the cotton ball damp but not dripping acetone. u can also use q-tips for smaller areas. you only need to prep the areas you paint. scrub hard till you see some of the paint coming off, then you know the wax is off. use gloves because the acetone will mess your fingers up after a while.

@anthonyx860 I only use angelus acrylic paint. It can be used on leather or canvas. It would work on other surfaces but i can only give you my word on those two.

If we wanted to paint the midsole, would we go about using the same angelus paint we did for the leather body? Or should we use a diff. type of paint? I've been wanting to customize mine cuz they have begun yellowing so I want to paint over it.

for the midsole you could probably use any acrylic paint because either way your going to have to redo it frequently since the paint wont stay on there too long. Angelus paint would probably still work better then most though

Angelus also has acrylic finishers you can put on after. it doesnt need to be applied if you just using them as casual shoes but if you are going to use them for "extreme purposes" I would definitely recommend using it.

no, the only one i would recommend is "angelus acrylic paint" since its made specially to be able to bend and flex. most other acrylics will crack after wearing them for a bit. you can experiment and try though on some old shoes

Thanks man. Yeah you have to buy the paint online, its not too expensive compared to other acrylic paints.

and black and red is a good combo, Chicago Bulls colors!!

So, would I be able to remove my old dirty white paint, repaint it with the paints you used, replace the laces to make them look new again? Or would I be better off buying a new pair and customizing those? I'm currently wearing my old Adidas Originals with blue stripes.

Yeah you could clean your old shoes and then remove the paint with acetone and then repaint them. but they still wouldn't look too new because you cant really do anything about the rubber sole if it dirty and all the creases and wrinkles will still be in the shoes. it would be good practice though before you do it on a brand new pair.

You can try making a stencil but it usually doesn't turn out very well. Im not sure of any good ways to transfer an outline to a shoe since its not a flat surface. Sorry

Im not sure, depends on what material your shoe is. Angelus paint works well on any porous material such as leather or canvas. It most likely would not work well on a slippery, or very smooth material like plastic or some synthetic materials. hope that helps.

I can if it was requested. The paint I use doesnt chip very easily though. I use angelus acrylic paint which is specially made to bend and flex unlike normal acrylic which would crack. I would use angelus acrylic clear finish.

You should be fine if you follow the steps in the video. use acetone to prep the leather on the shoes, and use angelus acrylic paint. nike renzos usually have a lot of suede on them, i dont know how well the paint will do on suede. the only materials i would recommend painting on is leather and canvas.

HI, Im preping a pair of dunk lows, its purple x black colored. when I rub the purple part with cotton balls with acetone,it looks like nothing is done,but if I press and rub super hard, the leather starts to become brown color, looks like dark wood color,I think its the wax and the paint came off , right? but when I prep the frontal part, which is the toe part, it just looks like the purple color has became more lighter and lighter,is it because of the wax came off? please help! thx alot.

usually it will look like the color is getting lighter like you said about the front part of the shoe. Im not sure why it would become brown. but as long as the wax come off you should be able to paint over it, it should feel a little more porous and less smooth when the wax is off. you can paint 1-2 base coats of white before you paint over the brown panel if its too dark.

Its not really important that you get all the color off, whats important is that you get all the clear wax layer off. And sometimes its hard to tell if you got it all off unless you take all the color off too since the paint is below the wax layer.

Did you use just a regular sharpie to outline Mario then paint the outline with black paint? Also what dis you use to rub off the original color of the shoe ?

I used a normal #2 pencil to do a quick sketch of the mario on the shoe then i just painted the black outline and then painted inside the outline.

I used 100% acetone to get the wax off the shoe (this can also remove the paint)
