  • how did she put on so much weight in a two year span? she was so thin at the 75 grammy show.

  • I have no words to describe this. I''m blown away every time I hear her sing!!!!!!!!!

  • PenzancePete has been blocked.

  • @PenzancePete....... Hey lets try this disable your account for the good of mankind. Ur a disgrace or jst do us a even bigger favor and go kill ur self. Ur choice but pick one.......

  • Wow Re Re Killing it! As usual! Who is the Fender Rhodes player? He or she voicing is crazy! I love this version!

  • This is amazing singing. She is a legend.

  • @PenzancePete Fuck both of them. What is your fascination with her blackness. clearly you are a racist or a self hating negro. Seek therapy and stay the fuck off youtube.

  • @PenzancePete And the classic ignorant racist that doesn't know shit about what he is talking about. Aretha is no sterotyped and she has never been the one to be put in one category. What you are is an idiot

  • @TheQueenAretha

Were you drunk when you typed that or are you just educationally sub-normal?

  • @PenzancePete And you are a ignorant racist.

  • @PenzancePete She doesn't shout her way throught songs and that is stupid what you said. She is a songstress. She has never been about high note, it about the interpretation. Aretha is a great singer, one of the best.

  • @TheQueenAretha

Then my musical expert, suggest a number that she's actually crooned her way through. Yes, as I thought you can't, because she simply shouts her way through everything.

  • @PenzancePete There are many The First Snow in Kokomo, I'm Your Speed, Are You Leaving Me, What I Did For Love. Aretha is not someone who has all there focus on her note, she is all about the interpretation. That goes to show you don't know shit about Aretha, if you did you would know that she has never been about the high note, it was the interpretation. She is not Patti Labelle, she doesn't have to shout her way throught shit. She not a shouter she is a singer.

  • @PenzancePete And you got some damn nerve trying to bad mouth Aretha when you are listening to that shit.

  • @PenzancePete .....Either you're an inherently ignorant individual, or someone who's emotionally deficient JUST ENOUGH to spend time on YOUTUBE, expressing negative opinions concerning an artist whom you obviously don't care for, with the juvenile intentions of "getting a rise" out of the individuals who DO CARE for the undisputed "Queen Of Soul". Simple question: Why would anyone with a SEMBLANCE of intelligence expend energy on a subject that displeases them? Watch another video....JACKASS!

  • @PenzancePete actually dunno about racist, but definitely still a shit cunt

  • @PenzancePete you are a racist shit cunt with an obvious lack of brain power

  • Amazing! I wonder what Marvin said about this. She stole the song & made it her own!

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Classic, footage of soul being vocalized.

  • alright now!

  • Ain't, that show nuff truth...!

  • For a great read check out A Step Into Deliverance by Toni Pugh. Powerful! And a real page-turner.

  • SANG SANG SANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SANG THE SONG RE RE!!!!

  • Very nice.

  • this is one of my favorite aretha songs so beautiful! dont we all want a relationship that is real no bull s*** or game playing just real wow dont get me started!

  • Her voice was something else back in the 60s and 70s. Her voice sounds like deep musical thoughts with soul.

  • thank you so much for posting - that makes me shiver.

  • She is a special gift from God.

  • its an honor to hear and see this...love the queen...

  • Aretha is one unto each own ! One of a kind that comes once in a life time .Been a fan since my youth .Gran Artista del Corazon y Ser . Pure Soul .Bravo !Your singing is amazing ! Thanks for posting .

  • I love Auntie ReeRee too... However she's my second favorite singer... I love one of the women who young Aretha listened in awe to in her daddy's church - Miss Mahalia Jackson. If Auntie Ree stayed in Gospel she would have been the next rightful Queen of Gospel...but then Soul, R&B, Pop, Funk AND OPERA would have lost out SOOOOOO MUCH! LOVE YAH, AUNT REE!!! You are truly something wonderful...

  • Wow!!!

  • there aint nufin wrong with the way aretha is now, yea she may have gained weight but she is gettin old now yano, give her a break id like 2 see u get up there and do what she does with the soul and power that she does it with

  • you tell em.

  • Well you all can add me to the list of male singers greatly inspired by Aretha. No other female singer has been blessed with more soul, vocal dynamics and overall musicality than this lady. Long live the Queen!

  • the timing, vocal phrasing and the sheer brilliance of this gal sing.

Love you Patti, Gladys, Chaka,Diana, Oleta,BUt there is not one of you that can touch this ladies voice.

Aretha Franklin is the GREATEST SINGER THAT HAS EVER LIVED

  • thats right

  • None of them can touch Aretha's voice that u name and in that same breathe Aretha can't touch Billie Holiday nor Mahalia Jackson

  • i didn't once think of marvin & tammi's version while listening to this. this is the kind of stuff you can appreciate about aretha. this was magic.

  • SANG!!! Who was it that said, "The voice of God, if you really wanna know, is Aretha Franklin"? They tweren't lying!

  • DtownRocStar, I have also studied her music and her voice and you are on point in your description of Aretha's voice, timing and soul. I'm a male singer who's inspired and influenced by Aretha...Donny Hathaway is my 2nd favorite soul singer.

  • This is one of my favorites of Aretha!I have studied her. Her timing, soul, and that VOICE IS UNMATCHED. There are many great singers for different reasons, but Aretha maybe one of my biggest inspirations vocally and I'm a male. Ain't nothing like the real thing and that ain't no lie.

  • I am a male singer as well having Aretha as my greatest influence for she has the greatest voice of all times. I am in total agreement with you DtownRocStar

  • Pure spirit and energy of soul power!!

the way she performed, remade this song is so so charming~vit's just the true singing ability of Aretha, the best part 2 me,though not that successful on the song "You light up my life" .

  • WOW! What an amazing voice. Aretha gives me chills singing like that. I love how she sings in her upper register without screaming or losing vocal quality, young female singers in gospel, R&B and pop should really study her body of work.

  • I love how Aretha set's a song up - her approach is alway's interesting... thanks arethafan2006 for this awesome footage.

  • That's Donny Hathaway on the electric piano, as well. Great clip.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • dang mamma franklin did she have to sing it like that..the greasted female singer ever..there is only one queen and its aretha baby

  • arethafan..thanx a mil for posting this performance...out of every performance of aretha's here, this has got 2 b my most fav..her voice was ridiculously high...her notes from 2:36 to 2:52 are chilling and are like daggers thrown @ u...no 1 does it better than her...i luv, luv, LUV reeree!!!!

  • This is when Aretha Franklin was totally "insane." One night at Carnegie Hall, a young man quietly went to the stage to touch the hem of her garment. Then returned to his seat.

  • OliverPenn1 what was the point of saying someone went to the stage to touch her garment thats sounds sorta crazy, whoever it was has issues

  • If you had been there, you'd understand. That moment was "spiritual" for that entire audience. People were weeping in disbelief with Aretha's singing. I think everyone felt very close to her and realized that she wasn't JUST a singer. That guy expressed his feelings by doing what he did.

  • WAS IT YOU, SOUNDS THAT WAY

  • I was in a box above the stage. I wish it had been me. Thanks for asking.

  • Get it Aretha!
