I may have been born in Riga in 1984 but I do not, by any means, consider myself a "soviet" or "communist" I don't even associate on any level with those kind of people and believe me, there's just as many communists here in the U.S. I HATE THEM ALL! Latvia has every right to be its own country, to rule how it wishes and all that. What the soviets did was atrocious. They gave a really bad name to a lot of law abiding Russians out there.
@94uustrats I'm a Latvian Russian myself but I grew up here in the U.S. My family left Riga when I was 3 years old due to communist oppression on religion. We know that real true Latvians had nothing to do our flight from the country and the flight of many others as well. I would like to let my fellow Latvians know that not all Russian people are bad people. Many Russians opposed communist oppression and occupation and paid with their blood for it.
Nice video, but you didn't show anything impressive or beautiful. :( Like Central Market(Centraltirgus), or TV tower, and panoramic view of old town. Maby we have the smallest old town in europe, but we have the most beautiful ladies and best hockey fans and players SARAUJ RĪGA SARAUJ!

You should visit Ventspils and Liepaja. These are cities that are located not far from each other. Ventspils apparently is the most beautiful city in Latvia.
Here is only old Riga. Yes it is beautiful! but what about all Riga? If U stay here just a few days than it will be ok, but if U stay here 10 days... than you see all city and it is not so amazing!
weel we take the plain on friday morning so would be nice with some suggestion heard that the skybar there is supose to be nice :), but also got a tip were not to go dont remm the name there but they got beaten up and robbed. so if you have some nice place to go/ places I have to visit would be nice

I just got back from Riga last night!! I have a good friend over there that we went to meet... I will definately be returning as I loved it. Riga is an amazing city, the buildings have so much charector, the food is yummy and the people are lovely! If you like opera try to go to the Opera house there, its sooo beautiful.. the opera we saw made us cry it was sooo moving!! (My friend laughed at us for crying hehe) Your video is great guys!!

Hey guys, I'm Alex. Its so nice to find a video about my hometown in the internet, with all the explaining and stuff. I live in Riga at the moment, my mother tongue is Russian, but I can speak Latvian and English as well (some German too). Riga is really great, but I would prefer living elsewhere in Europe or Canada. You see, I'm 18 and currently a senior. It is hard to find a job here, and if you do find one, the salary will be around 250-350 Euro/month. Universities also cost over 4000 Euro.

nice video lad :) i also live in riga and i would defeneatly recommend other country people to visit Riga :) but i agree about night walks soo called its advised to not take a walk in night alone there due to fights and other stuff like that witch ussualy happens between russians and latvians :( but its not that bad the chances are like 30% the main is just to avoid agressive looking crouds:)but otherwise its a great city and i dont say that because i live here :P

Great video! Thank you for making it! It somehow made me see Riga from a different angle .. and it's kinda weird since I've lived here most of my life.
A year has passed .. and I think Riga is becoming safer for tourist. but you still have to use your head here (especially at night or during some big events, but I guess it's like that elsewhere as well). and it's really nice that you advise visitors to look up some info themselves.
I will be having my 35th birthday party in Riga. This short video has put me on the right path in looking for things to do and for accommodations. It was exceptionally well made too. Thank you for posting!
Latvia (Riga) is like my second home. Love the old town (actually, besides the night clubs and similar stuff, i like it equally, or perhaps even a little more then Vilnius:)). Also i simply admire the way the green areas of Riga are taken care of (that's the first thing i would fix in Vilnius). All in all - great job.

Nice video guys :) Yesterday I came up the idea that maybe next summer I'm going to ride from Lahti, Finland to Riga with my bicycle. Staying there for a couple of days and then ride back :D Riga seem to be very nice city as far as I know =) But we'll see if my trip is going to happen, I hope so :P
Riga is a wonderful city. It is definately worth to visit it. It is awesome that you guys made a video about Riga. However Riga is much better. Just visit it in summer and you definately won't regret it!

I just got back from Riga last night!! I have a good friend over there that we went to meet... I will definately be returning as I loved it. nice video lad :) i also live in riga and i would defeneatly recommend other country people to visit Riga :) but i agree about night walks soo called its advised to not take a walk in night alone there due to fights and other stuff like that witch ussualy happens between russians and latvians :( but its not that bad the chances are like 30% the main is just to avoid agressive looking crouds:)but otherwise its a great city and i dont say that because i live here :P

Nice video, Riga is certainly a nice place to visit, but I've lived there for the past two years and I don't recommend it at all (especially if you're a big city person)

well. the biggest problem in Latvia is, that there are many complications between latvian and russian people. I'll hope those peoples who can't stand this country will stop be rude at harmony people and leave this place and go where they wish to be.

Great video! Thank you for making it! It somehow made me see Riga from a different angle .. and it's kinda weird since I've lived here most of my life.
A year has passed .. and I think Riga is becoming safer for tourist. but you still have to use your head here (especially at night or during some big events, but I guess it's like that elsewhere as well). and it's really nice that you advise visitors to look up some info themselves.

Latvia (Riga) is like my second home. Love the old town (actually, besides the night clubs and similar stuff, i like it equally, or perhaps even a little more then Vilnius:)). Also i simply admire the way the green areas of Riga are taken care of (that's the first thing i would fix in Vilnius). All in all - great job.

Latvians have lived near The Baltic Sea for 10 000 years and even a small nation have a rights for its freedom. Yes... that was a guess...Latvia wasn't par of Russia Empire for 5 centuries but is was part of Germany for 7 centuries..does it means that germans can call Latvia Germany????
And also its hard to say "was a part" because if somebody brutaly invade your country it is not being a part. Nice video guys :) Yesterday I came up the idea that maybe next summer I'm going to ride from Lahti, Finland to Riga with my bicycle. Staying there for a couple of days and then ride back :D Riga seem to be very nice city as far as I know =) But we'll see if my trip is going to happen, I hope so :P

Riga is a wonderful city. It is definately worth to visit it. It is awesome that you guys made a video about Riga. However Riga is much better. Just visit it in summer and you definately won't regret it!
