I can't believe that Major General Frank Hagenbeck called the Battle of Takur Ghar a success. All high-level U.S. commanders were incompetent. Lieutenant Colonel Blaber has not done sufficient reconnaissance before the battle, and has not sent enough troops to the battle. The Australian SAS soldiers performed much better. They infiltrated the mountain range prior to the first helicopter crash, remained undetected, and provided critical reconnaissance info for the American troops.

i think that they where making excuses when the AC-130 gunship left the area. the al qaeda only had RPG's. they could not hit it surely, there unguided and the plane should have been at a high altitude. also do they not have any attack helicopters which could have helped?

@arewhyayeenn yes they did. the SEAL team [ code named MAKO 30 ] during this mission were evacuated along with the rangers at night time. but strangely , that part isn't shown in the documentary towards the end.
