No, it's not a microwave, it's a fume hood. It just keeps dangerous gasses in during reactions.

The boiling and melting comes from the reaction itself. It releases a lot of heat, there's no need to heat it up any further.

Hydrochloric acid is a STRONGER acid than sulfuric acid. Hydrochloric acid has a lower pKa than sulfuric acid, and hence it is stronger.
