There is a pie store across from Shinagawa station at the "american sweets" store (cant remember the real name) near the Shinagawa Prince Hotel. They seemed to only have dessert pies though and I didn't try any.

Is the little thingy on a western style toilet that sprays water upward used to clean the surface of anus? I have never used that kind of toilet, so I am just being curious.

The Japanese squat toilet doesn't have that thing, and the Japanese are OK without the use of that little thingy. It makes me wonder if most Japanese who have western style toilets even exactly use that little thing often.

I can field that one for you - yes, it is. Actually, it isn't just for the anus but for cleaning of the the genetalia in general. It's called a 'bidet'. In Japanese you will see it written as 'ビデ'

There's a video on the how-to playlist about this, if I recall correctly, and that toilet has a bidet.

Just to clarify that, actually, the type of toilet itself is called ウォシュレット or 'washlet'. The 'bidet' is just a function OF the washlet which cleans the genetalia, if that makes sense. They are indeed common in Japan and South Korea. Squat toilets are also common but tend to be outside things, appearing in outhouses or public parks for example.

I live in the UK, and I can safely say that I've never owned or even seen a washlet in my life here (but I imagine some people have them in their homes. I also think they're use in care homes). I've seen bidets, but only as separate things and not built into the toilet like a washlet. These washlets, so common in Japan, also have seat warming technology among other things, so I imagine they're pretty good. I can't really think of any cons other than (I'd imagine) the cost.
