What a classic. Loved the series, I never missed one, and hearing that classic theme songs makes me smile and remember what it was like. I'll be humming that tune to myself for several days now!
This was in the opening sequence of "Love, Honour and Obey" starring Kathy Burke and Ray Winston. Took me back to Saturday nights when I was a 7 year old! It was the first record I ever bought, swiftly followed by Billy J Kramer and Dusty Springfield - what taste. Thanks for the posting.
Love the little "RRR RRRR RRRR" sound in there! Can't figure out what instrument it is! What's missing is a little trio back up singers echoing "fireball"!!
This is the best! I haven't heard this since I was a little kid! This show sparked my imagination. I even had the the toy Fireball XL5 ship. I must have played this song a million times in the last wek since rediscovering it. The 50's/early 60's had the best music, and this was one of the best from one of the best shows. Thanks for taking me back in time! Long Live FIREBALL XL5. Cheers, Marc
just brilliant, scintillating music and lyrics and of course Don Spencer at his best. Thanks a lot for reviving ol memories. Cheers All. Long Live XL5.
Mum bought me that single when I was 8 lol fond memories still love it to bits brilliant pop song they dont make them as good nowadays, love the kick arse sax.
Actually, there were two eras of music in the 1960's. This is the 1950's type 60's. None of the crap from the middle and late 60's in this great song! Long live 1950's and early 1960's Rock & Roll! Long live FIREBALL XL5!
Brilliant, brings back so many memories;

One of the best TV theme songs ever! When I watched this show, I'd be humming and whistling this for days afterwards.

I too loved this series as a very small child and it left me with a life long interest in space travel.
I used to have a XL5 plastic model and still have the original single for it, same as this one.

Takes me way back to the 60s, this one. I loved the series (and the theme tune) and this is a trip down memory lane for me.
