As I girl, I do not think that a receding hairline has a detrimental effect on most men's looks. In fact many really suit it...it's masculine. But do shave it short! There is nothing worse than a bad combover...except perhaps a dodgy looking transplant, like Elton's!

Jude Law hasnt done anything about his badling yet apart from indian head massages and oils, he hasnt had any kind of surgery or transplant,hes shaves it shorter and rocks the receeding look now and looks good i think.
Elton John's is just too thick. Hair transplant aren't going to look right when you're in your 50's or 60's. That scar is nasty. Just shave it already. People will accept you as you are.
