  • You missed to show the character roster on the Sega Master system version of MK3.

  • I have to agree with him on the MK3 port for the Master System (I own a copy and have played it) Kano is as cheap as it comes, and worst of all all the dialogue is in Portugiese.

  • My number one compalint about MK 3 isn't the Combo Stuff it's the fact that they left out Scorpion, my favorite character from the series, Ultimate MK3/Trilogy are probably the definative versons of MK3, in my eyes because they restored Scorpion

  • My fave mk. Also my fave cabinet. I don't think the combos were any more difficult than ki.

  • The Mortal Kombat 3 game I have for PlayStation has the opening story with the original arcade pics.

Is it possible that there is more than 1 revision of the PlayStation Mortal Kombat 3?

  • Over the weekend, I found my old PlayStation Mortal Kombat 3 & Special Forces games.

Both discs are scratched. I tried to play them on my PS1 and my (original model) PS2, they wouldn't read.

I put them in my sister's (slim line) PS2 and they read for the most part.

Sometimes MK3 is read as an audio CD and most of the time, MK Special Forces freezes up at the copyright screen.

I have been able to play them a few times, but they still don't always work properly.

I may buy new (used) ones.

  • Special Forces freezing is a mercy.

  • The master system was a cool little system back in the day... But surely somebody at sega must of realised that mk3 on it looked and plays crap and just doesn't work on an 8bit system!!! why bring it out??? who would enjoy playing it when you can get a way better version on snes or megadrive? terrible idea to create it!

  • People actually thought this game was harder???? Mortal Kombat 2 was the one that kicked my ass. I caught on easily to MK3. If you had one of the six button sega controllers it made the combos easier.

  • Its a shame the MAT2 version of MK3 was screwed up a bit.

  • So was the sega game gear just a handheld version of the master system? I had a game gera and the gameplay, delay and graphics look very similar........although it has been like 15 years.

  • Killer Instinct got a mention im surprised most people just think the combos came outta nowhere

  • Anybody ever figure out how to play as Shao Khan in the main Game? Somebody told me it was possible but I've never been able to figure it out.

  • @Luigi84289 Only in Trilogy. Not UMK3, or normal MK3.

  • the combos in MK3 were like punching a number into a telephone, they didn't involve any skill

at least the combos in MK1 and MK2 involved some timing elements

  • Shao Khan is cheap.

    Period.

  • He's Shao Kahn. He plays to win.

  • @TheSonicGod Let's not forget Motaro, he too is pretty cheap. He mostly teleports, shoots fireballs or does his grab & punch.

Kabal can at times be cheap too, especially when he mostly does his tornado move.

I've played all 4 NA console versions/ports of Mortal Kombat 3 today.

In my experience, the Sega Genesis was the hardest 1, but the Super Nintendo was the easiest.

Don't tell, but I used a cheat code to bring up the Scott's Stuff menu where you can disable blocking completely.

  • i love this game best MK game ever i hate UMK3 but thats just me my fave MK games are MK3 MK4 and MK2

  • umk3 is better than mk3

  • i wish midway had put the same work in mk2 for the genesis as they did with mk3...

  • Genesis was old. Technology wasn't there. They did the best they could.

  • What is that wierd PS1 cd case at 6:31? It looks like a American Saturn cd case.

  • Early PS games came in this kind of CD case, called Long Box.

  • I believe that most PS1 game cases in America had them shaped mostly like the modern day DVD cases. Europe just had the CD jewel case-shaped ones, although they were slightly bulkier.

  • Only the first few years. By the time I got mine in 1997 all the cases were Jewel small ones.

  • My faovorite MK game is UMK3

  • The best versions of MK3 would have to be arcade and PS.

The arcade version of Ultimate MK3 is pretty cool [you do get Sheeva, but Rain isn't playable and Noob Saibot is only a boss].

MK Trilogy on PS is cool, but it sucks to play on PS2 because the game freezes after you beat it. I know it's not the console because I've tried 2 copies on my PS2 and both of them always froze after I beat Shao Kahn.

If you have MK3 or MK Trilogy on Playstation...Put them in a CD player.

  • Saturn umk3 is also has sheeva?

  • S.N.E.S.

  • Way to let these kids know Killer instinct started the insane combos. By the way are you guys are you ever going to do a review on killer instinct. They're about to release KI on the VC and XBLA.

  • 6:58 She's an ant!

  • I definetly prefer UMK3 over the original MK3, mainly because it has more characters. I was extremely ticked that Kitana and Scorpion weren't in the original MK3, especially since they are some of my MK favorites.

  • Why the musics in UMK3 Saturn are thought making stress?

  • MK3 is only Arcade and Playstation version have The Graveyard, also, the Hidden Portal is only on SNES, Playstation, and Arcade, but Sega Genesis don't!

  • MK2 IS THE BEST ONE!

  • Finish him

  • I just checked it and it does have the opening story intro.

  • The mk 3 on psone does have the opening arcade story intro.

  • hahahah lol 6:58 sheeva's huge head and her red eyes is just hilarious lol.

  • I agree, MORTAL KOMBAT 3 kick ass and it was better than part 01 and 02. Secondly, the music of the arcade version was fucking better than the GENESIS. So, let me say this, for the person who review this... if you didn't like how MIDWAY INC. did this game... don't play it and shut the hell up!!!

  • "what is this the sega cd?!" hahah this is funny :P

  • It's funny how the Sega Saturn had better hardware but it was just so damn hard to utilize correctly.

  • yep, sega saturn had very diffcult to ultize cpu's, and when it was made, the designers where fucked, becuase they had NOT 1 PROGRAMMING TOOL they had to do the coding BY HAND, the motherborad was VERY exspensive to make, the cpu's could barley contact the ram at the same time.

  • Killer Instinct was 3D ? Just as 3D as Virtua Fighter ? Well, its developers might be very surprised about that.

  • LOL Sega CD!! That's funny!

  • i have the n64 one and i loved still i can understand where your going with what you said

  • Thanks for understanding. It's one of those things where you kinda of get spoiled with if you play a better version then play a not so great version. Had I only had the N64 version growing up I am sure I would of gotten use to the controller and loved it even with it's flaws. If some one were to ask if they should get the game for N64 and that's all they had I would still recommend it.

  • Why the MK3 stages like The Balcony and The Streets were missing in UMK3 Genesis version? There are only The Subway, The Bank, Rooftop, Sou Chamber, Kombat Temple and Pit III.

  • Why in UMK3 Genesis version there are missing stages like The Balcony and The Street?

  • Why UMK3 Super Nintendo version is also missing stages like The Temple, The Subway, and also Soul Chamber and why both of Genesis and Super Nintendo versions of UMK3 don't have Sheeva and Animalities?

  • @ voodoihippo : lol, Because the Snes and Genesis had hardware and cartridge limitations. Pretty obvious when you think about it.

  • So, in SNES the MK3 stages are only Pit 3 and Roof and only used for fighting your bosses.

  • Both of UMK3 Genesis and SNES version don't have animalities but Brutalities.

  • Also the character names after you chose or won a battle

  • Yes, I wish me could help change but they still made it that way for us.

  • Also, Sheeva in SNES UMK3 was being considered hidden character, we could use her only in Tournament Mode if you get E by doing random select.
