Jim was the doors,,no Jim,,no doors, Robbie was quiet and he was not handsome,,so people didnt give him the props he should have gotten in the 60s. he is without a doubt one of the best 60s guitar players.
I know, he doesn't sound anything like Jim, but on the other hand - nobody does. But this guy is doing the best he can with what he got, AND he's standing next to Robbie Krieger, so I salute him for not having a nervous breakdown =)
bless robby... that he still keeps the sound of the doors alive!
he was a mainbrain of the doors... if robby died and jim were still alive, who the fuck keeps the sound alive? jim singing to playback? so fuck u all, the doors was 4 people and not just jim...
@indio77777 Why say something like that? Think Jim would see or hear this and think that? I doubt it. He'd be happy people are still singing and playing his songs and inspired to play their own. Music shouldn't be a competition.
That said, it's a little strange for me to see Robby playing anything but an SG. LOL
this is the lamest version of this song ever......and orchestra for a kick-ass blues tune? really? it takes all the guts out of the orginal......robby sounds good though. i can't ever imagine jim morrison, in his old age, doing this. can you?
you people who critisize robby, did you know that like other wonderfull songs of the doors, this awesome song is a creation of robby?? yes robby wrote this song and he can play it with whoever he wants whenever he wants and he don't need to be sorry about this.
Jim would have been sooooooooo disappointed...shame on you Robbie!!!! You look like you didn't even want to play this song w/ this joker whos trying to sing Jims ramble.
World famous celebrity interviewer GARY JAMES has just interviewed Gerald Pitts and posted it on his Classicbands website. It is in the Believe It Or Not section. Enjoy!
like touch me, i know u wrote this like ages ago but i didnt see this vid until now but touch me is probably known by people not even into the doors and even to doors fans they probably dont know touch me was written by krieger
I agree, Krieger is so underrated. And he makes it look so easy! When I hear of The Doors, it's not Morrison that I think of - it's Krieger. His guitar playing is out of this world.
I was at this show. The singer is the son of Barry Oakley, late bass player for the Allman Bros. I think David Crosby's son was playing keys (not Melissa Etheridge's kid, of course.) Kick-ass show.
@BOTFA111 true, true... but the most exciting thing when he played with the Doors was him fingerpicking with nails like a classic or flamenco player... Robby playing with a pick sounds to me like betraying. Just like Manzarek playing that orrendous digital keyboard instead of the vox continental or the gibson kalamazoo combo organs... In fact when robby plays with the D21C or Riders on the Storm he still plays most of the parts fingerpicking. I guess it's a sort of "philological correctness".
@DonConstantinos I really don't think he was trying to 'represent' Jim's voice. no one can do that, obviously(: this singer DOES have a very bluesy voice though, don't you think?
it makes my skin crawl when i see anyone other than jim sing the lyrics or anyone other than the doors play their music, now i know robby was there, but still, it alwys comes out cheesy and not powerful and raw when it was just the doors playing, i just heard a riders on the storm remix with snoop, and contemplated suicide, lol
Robby still plays awesome Guitar ...seen him at the House of Blues Cleveland 2007 great gig ..dude singing ain't have bad ..the best party song ever !!
Wild ...weird al yankavick singin, and lionel ritchie conducting....now thats far out!

This song can only be sung by Morrison if Robby is playing to make it credible. Sadly this will never be the case and this is terrible.

Guitarists always talk about the importance of tone. I submit that Kreiger's tone on "L.A. Woman" was the best ever recorded.
It's so cool, it's eerie.
