Does anybody know if this sketch has some basis in truth? I remember SNL also did a sketch in which the grown up "Eddie Munster" was bitterly ranting about the cancellation of The Munsters. I imagined that Butch Patrick must have been making some angry TV appearances around this time period, enough so that two different sketch comedy shows had taken notice and found something about his attitude worth ridiculing.

@breacat I read an interview with the cast of "Meet The Fockers" around the time that movie came out, and this specific sketch was brought up by the interviewer. Ben Stiller was grateful the interviewer had waited till after De Niro had left to bring it up, because it had never come up previously, and he felt reluctant to reveal to his co-star that he'd done an impression of him on TV. I gathered he felt it might have been awkward.

I remember when this episode aired. At the end they played a bunch of outtakes of Stiller ranting and improvising in character. He was screaming "LOU GRANNNNNT"... "MARY TYLER MOORRRRRRR!!" Then he busted out laughing. I wish someone would put that on youTube.
