As it happens, Lakajd and ZepplenMan, this actually is test footage from the John Woo produced attempt at making a metroid movie. His production team picked up the rights in 2001, and the above footage was released in 2002, although the clip above is heavily edited the footage is quite real. If you see the whole clip, it's not half as bad as this makes it look.
