Microsoft Flight Simulator don't support multi core CPU. It uses only one of the many cores, so to get the most frames you need to pump up the clock speed. I recommend 6 GHz.
@wii2050 Thanks for your comment. As you can see this vid is a few years old. I have since mad a few modifications to my rig and have overclocked to 4.1GHz. Runs like a champ now.
@xCmOn3yx777 Well considering I was getting ready to deploy at the time and need the the parts to arrive before we left so I would have my rig with me in Iraq, $115 was well spent.
I even tried ati twice and returned each within a couple days because they were crap and never worked right. What trooper stated that this was for fsx, as long as your not gaming with gpu intensive games, trooper your card is fine. ;-)
Awsome build. I don't know why people are making a big deal out of your gpu. FSX runs off of CPU. I just got a GTX 460, which made no difference in fps with my old processor. I just got the AMD X4 965, which is the key to better fps in fsx. As far as that comment "why get an amd with nvida?" was a weird question. Not like the processor knows what gpu your using. And the rumor that amd works better with ati is false.
I get 100 fps + with AMD 965, GTX260 on a Crosshair II mobo. It is either the mobo or the SSD hard drives that is making it good, I think both personally. Gotta keep an eye on those bus speeds especially the PCI bus. Make sure you have a PCI-E 2.0 spec mobo otherwise your new spanky GPU cards are just running in squeeze mode
wow when is everybody going to get off of the 250 thing. YES the 250 is not the greatest card but for the job it is doing it is just fine. I was focusing on a simple build and you know what? i got what i wanted. i get high fps with almost all sliders on max with a ton of addons. and as far as the msi board, maybe you just had a bad board. no issues with my build at all. as far as ati, i am not a big fan of there stuff.
wow, did you just decide on all these parts on your own in one shot and then didn't consider anything else, for some reason? Shoulda gone with the GTX260. Everything else is alright I guess, not a fan of MSI stuff anymore after one of there mainboard started destroying every stick of memory I put in it.
recommend the ATI 5770 5850 5870 I have 5770 and i get with max setting 35-92fps always/ cpu AMD965/ 3.4ghz 6G RAM motherboard GIGABYTE GA-MA790GP-UD4H
yes well like i said im getting the fps i wanted. after lots of reasearch and talking on the forums with lots of people, it would be dumb to invest in another gpu. the gpu i have is more than enough to handle fsx as it already is. besides i keep my fps locked at 30.
once i get to iraq in march i may consider changing gpu's since this rig is going with me. And based off of lots of talks with people on forums and reading online, as far as fsx goes nvid is a lot better than ati. my overclock is stable at 3.8ghz
well like i have been saying fsx needs more cpu power vs gpu. the gpu that i chose is more enough to handle my fsx plus all the add on that i have got for it. and even after i spent 1200+ overnight shipping, the total cost of the build was still below 1000 because of all the mail in rebaits i got. After fine tuning and over clocking i am now getting 14-21 fps on the ground at most major airports and 65-85 in air over land and over 100 over open water with max settings and about 50% AI traffic
well great pc, but WHY DID YOU GT THE 250!!! thats like the worst gpu you can get for a system like this, you should have got a 4870 or even waited for the ati 5000 series that would have came out in about two weeks after you got your pc
I got the same cpu same psu, Asus hd 4890 which is wayyyy better than your geforce250, 4gb ddr3 1600 g.skill, ASUS M4A79XTD EVO Motherboard, cooler master stacker 830 full tower + 2cold cathods + 2 uv's+4 led's 120mm fans+zalman 9700nt cpu cooller+sunbean Rheobus-Extreme Fan Controller panel+rosewill RNX-G1 USB wireless network+Kingston HyperX KHX-memory fan + cable sleeving uv kit+sata connectors uv kit all for U$950.00 at newegg! Hard drive is +50 dollars
You should research before buying stuff...Anyways my old computer, was quad core q6700 at 3.1ghz, 4gb ddr2 800, hd 4890, asus ipibl-lb mobo. FSX usually had 20~50 fps running every bar full. you should have no problems with your build, however, you made a mistake when choosing geforce250 ^^

Nice build, mine is somewhat similar,
CPU: intel i7-920 3.6 ghz (something like that)
Video: Geforce 9800 Gt
Motherboard: MSI X58 pro gaming series
PSU: Antec 750 Watt
Case: Auzentech Bulldozer
The case is a bit tight but I could work around it.

Also great video and all but it really does not show much. I have a lot of eye candy add ons and my scenery looks awsome.

madzane94 2 years ago
this is really similar to my build (GTS 250, Phenom II x4 965, 4GB DDR3-1600 upgradeable to 8GB)
Nice work! FSX might run better on a 64-bit system though, possibly. I haven't tried it yet, but I expect around 60 FPS on my Windows 7 system.
