  • All those yuppies out there go ahead and poke fun at us hillbillies and rednecks who "play" with these old engines and such. When this country collapses because of the crappy goverment we'll be the ones laughing. We'll be bringing this old iron out and using it to power our houses and take care of things.

  • @outlawracer2229 Hell yeah we'll run our water pumps off steam tractors!

  • In my job,i've seen things that would be considered strange to most of the posters. I don't understand why the attack on the OP for thinking this engine is strange. If it's strange to you, then it's strange.

Not everyone spends their time tinkering with old engines.

  • what's so strange about an old hit and miss engine?

  • Its an old hit and miss!

  • ...with th' way things r goin'... It wouldn't be that far out of the question t' put 'em power-houses back to practical work!

  • I don't know much about vintage engines like these. However, I have always loved them. I think what really gets me is the massive flywheels. You can almost feel the torque they put out.

  • I wonder if the owner of this beast kept an equally historical blowlamp that was used to start it

  • <3

  • I don't see anything strange about this. Just your typical hot bulb motor. thumbs fuckign down.

  • hit&miss!

  • yeah i guess this is pretty weird if you have never been to the fair.

  • I was going to ask whats so strange about it, But i see that topic has been beaten to death already, lol.

  • Very nice engine!

  • It's a blackstone sideshaft

  • well it seems a strange engine to people who haven't seen anything like it ...like me....still , i now know what it is thanks to comments ...i still think it's fun to watch ...why would they exhibit it if not?

  • it is a hit and miss governed engine

a hit and miss is an engine that only fires a spark when it slows down past the governed speed while it is not firing the exhaust valve is held open to keep the engine from slowing down, when it slows down the valve closes and it is like any old 4 stroke engine.

at slow idel a hit and miss is a 8 stroke engine

  • I cant really see any strangeness about a Blackstone oil engine! perfectly normal.

  • Search Under ground flour mill

  • its a BLACKSTONE

  • well i haven't seen one like it ..but i guess i;m not into that subject much...maybe they're really common ..i don't know i reckon there are some who haven't seen one... it's for them really...thanks for saying what it is tho...

  • whats so strange about that, its an old hit miss engine.
