Corrie rules the waves, but we are very competitive in the UK! Emmerdale with a train crash coming up! Eastenders with the fire! Best entertainment in the world! Hope HM The Queen will honour Corrie!
If you watched the EastEnders Live aftermath the Coronation Street cast made another toast to EE's 25 years. It would only be right for EE to do one for Corrie's 50th.
I agree with all postings! in the UK we are very jealous of our soaps, BUT when it coms to awards or presentations or records ALL join in! Coronations Street hits the big time here this year with 50 years of continuous broadcasting on Granada and ITV.!
wow this is great shame they didnt repeat the process for ten years of every soap thats still going strong 20 years of eastenders what an achievement still cant match corrie or emmerdale but it has staying power like home and away and neighbours .
That is so nice. I wish US Soaps were as supportive of each other. This year America's Longest Running Soap Guiding Light will be cancelled after 72 Years on the Air (15 on Radio, 57 On TV), it will do it's last broadcast on 09/18/09. The cast have already finished their last performance last Friday. How sad.
That is so beautiful to watch. I swear to God the US Soaps never do that for each other. I think that the UK can teach the US about what Soaps are really all about. My favorite Guiding Light is about to be cancelled after 72 Years on the Air, 15 On Radio and 55 on TV.
Wow theres something you dont see very often.Cross branding rival soaps and wishing then a happy B Day.I like the cheeky swipe Corrie does on them though.
The Home and Away cast are all dressed in their outfits for Shane and Angel's wedding. Filming must have taken place in that week. Thanks for uploading!
This was great. Steve McDonald is so young! And Brookside's gone now :( I don't even recognize anyone from Neighbours, or Home & Away, are any of those actors still on the show?
Liked the Corrie one in particular - it was very well done and it hardly needed the name "Eastenders" in the lines for the viewer to know what it was about. It makes me long for that era of Corrie to return when seeing how the characters were.
I still like this video, anD it's strange all the British (and Australian) soap operas together at the same time, and back when all these soap operas had its better storylines and more enjoyable characters.
And I doubt they'd do it thesedays, they are too busy filing 100 episodes a week...
Though if they have time to record Children in Need specials on BBC or "Family Album" episodes on ITV, I'm sure they could spare 5 minutes to record a birthday tribute if needed...
How cool was Corrie's congrats! They are a cut above the rest!

Ironically, the Australian soaps offer the warmest congratulations. The British are a cold, competitive nation.

@Messylin Not that competitive, or else we would do better at international sports events.

Coronation Street made the most creative toast.

That was very sporting.
1995 was a good year for EastEnders and Home and Away, especially.

they should do that for coronation streets 50th Birthday I would be so good if the other soaps did that

Mike Baldwin knows the Queen Vic, how funny would it have been if he had popped in for his usual tipple.

For Corries 40th anniversary in 2000 Eastenders cast members sent their best wishes before the live episode was produced.

Do you think EastEnders would have done the same thing for the other soaps? Would they do it nowardays?
Also, I like how few characters in Brookside were used compared to the characters in other soaps.

Im sure they would have...

Typical Coronation Street didn't say "EastEnders", they just said "Happy Birthday" on it own.
WorldNews92 3 years ago
Yes, but they put together a production for them.....that counts for a lot.

That was great, really nice to see all the old stars of the sopas wishing EastEnders happy birthday! EastEnders is still going strong!
