  • @JJkathayy you can't burn fat in a particular place, you lose fat overall, BUT you can tighten your abs giving the appearence of a smaller waist...

  • @jediwoner hello. I dont have the equipment either. but i have a resistance band i got from modells that has the little piece that can close in the door. I tried it with that. It works pretty good for me. you can get the band from most fitness stores and they are pretty cheap with different resistance levels.

  • pretty false statement. there is no exercises that can target fat in certain spots. you need to lose over all weight and your body naturally selects over all where it comes from. how to do it? burn more calories than you consume.

  • How do you feel about spot reducing (that is what this is isn't it)? I have two bad knees that inhibit cardio, so would something like this be beneficial without cardio?

  • @alin1975 , it does work. I use to exercise and haven't in almost a year, but I can tell you that I use to do just a few of those each time I go to the gym and they work!! I'm not a avid exerciser, so I just combine a few basic things for target training and everyone thought I was an athlete. I am just getting ready to start working out again and was browsing when I came across his stuff. He KNOWS and he's really motivating me right now. I'm on a 90 days to regain my form mission :)

    You do know that you cannot spot reduce (i.e. target) fat right? You can build muscle on an area but you are unable to specifically target fat loss. The human body simply does not work that way, and this is something that has been tested extensively.

    So you see, any exercise that promises to reduce your waist (or whatever) is relying on a very widespread exercise myth. Its simply not possible.

  • @alin1975 , I ABSOLUTELY disagree with you. I have done targeted training and it works...and works rapidly too. My arms got lean...abs got toned & lean etc. This my not work for everyone, but it works for me and others that I've worked out with in the past. Once those muscles get to working, fat automatically starts burning "to me that's targeting"

    What I stated was not my opinion, it is a biological fact. Dont believe me, do some research- google spot reduction myth.

    When our bodies lose weight, fat cells are pulled from all over with genetics determining if one area is emphasised over another. So you see, it was either your genes or it just seemed that way because you built some muscle and tightened the area up. Or probably a combination.

    But it certainly was not because you targetted the area through exercise.

  • @alin1975 , I have seen reports all over about that, However. I have never done targeted exercise and failed. This brings me to the reality that people are just people, regardless of credentials, they don't have all the answers. It would be best if they had said "spot reduction works for some people, but doesn't for others". It is inexplicable to me that I have 3 kids, hardly work out and only focus on areas I'd like to tone and it works, the exercise brings about my desired result

    The reason they cant say that is because it has always failed in studies.Its got nothing to do with credentials, it has something to do with unbiased observation.

    Time and again they have made experiments using large groups in similar conditions- one doing spot reduction the other not. If it worked for "some people" this should appear in the findings. Yet it has not.

    So unless you are not human, it just seems to work for you for the reasons I mentioned below

  • @alin1975 , it's funny when I see people like you clinging to other people so-called "reports and studies"...those are the same scenarios that are used to research many things, from illnesses, to cures, to food and medical procedures that are sworn by and label as "facts", then there's ALWAYS the "recanting stage, recalls etc". There's no such thing as "unbiased observation" in a study being done by persons wanting to pitch their idea. Well, I'm happy to not be human, cause it works for me!!

    Ah yes, silly people like me that look at the available facts.

    Funny thing about spot reduction... theres a whole industry out there who wants it to be true. Thats why they keep lying to you with miracle products and exercises. If anyone has an agenda its them, and they have never ever been able to show it in a controlled test.

    How is it possible that something that has been this extensively tested, with a diet industry to back it, has always arrived at the same result?

    Shouldnt there be just be one study- funded by the makers of some bullshit ab roller/twister/etc- that shows a correlatation?

    Doesn't it strike you that these products always word things just enough so as to give the illusion of spot reduction without promising it (to avoid being sued)?

    Or that doctors will tell you there is no biological foundation for spot reduction?

    Seriously. You are like that group that still believes the world is flat.

  • @coollharley , I NEVER do sit-ups, just hate them. I do the hanging leg raises. or I use the exercise ball to do crunches--sometimes I'd lay on a workout bench and do leg lifts. I also kneel and do overhead pull-down "I call it the praying move" . I'm a mother of 3, haven't worked out in almost a year and still have a flat stomach. I'm just starting up again. I know I'll have a six pack again in 6-12 weeks maximum. And that's because i know I'm not consistent why I extend it that long.

  • Hey Lisa.....last year I bought a golf exercise book that shows the exact exercise as shown in this video. Instead of a weight machine you use pilate resistance bands. They could in different resistance and you can take them everywhere, so there is no excuse when you are on vacation. Tie them off to a pole or anything else that won't move and do the exercise. Do a search for "pilate resistance bands". I'm hitting my drives abt. 20 yards longer now. Hope this helps.

  • This was helpful but we I dont have one of these at the gym. Im thinking of getting a kettlebell because I basically get no upper body workout. Would love to see a kettlebell workout or something for lovehandles easy to do at home type workout. BTW thanks for the DVD!
