If you really love Japanese Kenjustu and katana, you should watch this video.
Problem exists in both KATANA and MAKIWARA.
Most of Japanese video are using a formal Japanese sword and tatami-omote.

Well I proceed to attempt a cut through it and because water flew all over the place after the cut I assumed I had succeeded but then I looked and saw the bottle had simply been exploded through the bottom. So I figured it just needed to be sharper so I was gonna prolly put an accusharp to it but then I looked at the blade....... which had been bent but the bottle cut attempt.......... So needless to say I am gonna look at something a little more expensive for even basic cuts.

Yeah I just found out the hard way that a cheap sword even from Sword N Armory is still a cheap sword. I just got my Musashi Tomoe Katana in the mail that I ordered from sword n armory and was feeling good about it, so did some test cuts. First I tried to cut through the mailing box but after partial cutting through the box ripped off and flew away from a non contact point, didnt think much of it. Then I got a bottle of water out, not a 1 liter.....
