But, I think I have this one. One question thoug, are you using a different strum pattern on the bridge? Need lots of help on that one....

  • so is this in G or C? Can't be C cuz of the Dmajor right? Sorry I'm barely learning all this key stuff. It kinda confuses me cuz it starts on C then goes to G.

  • Thank you for your kind words. Many blessings to you.

  • This video has really brought my passion back for playing worship guitar. You made it really easy to learn this song and I am a beginner at learning how to play songs like this.

  • Great job! Awesome video!

    God Bless!!!

  • Awesome!! Superb voice too..Keep going pal...Really liked it....101 stars...

  • Wow! That great I love the graph! That will defaintly help me!

  • Oh yes can you post more tutorials :-) That´s very great.......

  • can you post more tutorials?

  • wow this is exactly what i nedded to learn thanx love it

  • Wonderful!!!!! Great voice!!!

  • This is a clever idea - overlaying the video with chord diagrams. I appreciate the thought and work. I suggest that if you create any more of these you display the chord _before_ the beat when it is first played. By not showing until the beat the viewer first has to watch to write down all the chords ahead of time, or alway be one beat late on each chord change.

  • Thank you so much Dean. I've been practicing and got the song down in no time. I was just wondering, how did you make that sound effect on your voice when singing?

  • I am singing in a large studio room and I added some reverb/echo to my voice when mixing the video.

  • I love this song! I started playing guitar years ago, but I never got very good, but I am using Dean's instructions, and I am getting this song down. Great video!

  • Hi there make sure you check out the tutorial on this song as well. I am sure it will help even further. blessings Dean

  • Hi, See my tutorial on this song on my channel.

  • l love this song, have bn trying to sing it and play at the same time... God bless. post up some more songs man, you are really a good teacher.

  • Awesome song, great voice and playing! What guitar you are using here?

  • A Taylor 410 CE

  • beautiful!!

but can some one please explain the strumming pattern please!!!- with counts

  • never mind!!

  • See my Instructional video of the same song

  • awesome, quick, usefull, great... great job man... nice guitar, great singing..

  • can someone teach me how to use a capo. will de chords be the same chords no matter wad fret u capo?

  • A capo enables you to change the key in which you play the song while using the same chords you know. Every time you move the capo one fret it generally changes the key a half step. For instance, the key of G is really easy to play but difficult to sing melody unless you are a tenor. You can place the capo on the second fret and play the say G progression but you are now playing in the key of A. IOW, your G chord is now an A because the capo on the 2nd fret raised the Key 2 half steps.

  • You can find a capo chart on the web (google "guitar capo chart". This will help you to know what chords result when you place the capo on a certain fret. Just experiment a bit. Place the capo on a fret that allows you to sing the song in your range. You can also produce a mandolin effect by placing the capo on a higher fret (close to the body of the guitar) like the 7th fret. Have fun and worship the Lamb!

  • woow! I have to tell you this you sing so beautifull!!! wauw your voice makes me cry

  • thank you so much...i am learning worship guitar for first time! And your might to save tutorial is my first song i CAN actually play !

Can you please do other christian songs with the same strumming pattern along with the tutorial. This would be awesome! God bless you to bless us! :)

  • hey can you please do a video just like this but do the song God of this city by Chris Tomloin sorry i cant spell

  • What if we don't have a capo?

In the band that we are in for my church I don't use a capo and it's a completely different set tabs or chords.

Do you have a video on that thing? I need to learn it soon before Wednesday.

  • You can still play the song without a capo using the same fingering as I show here. It will just be in a lower key. I have the complete chart at learnworshipguitar(dot)com if you would like to to download it it's free.

  • thanks =D now i now how to play it

  • i love this song

  • Such a simple worship song that sounds just great on my acoustic guitar.

This is going to be awesome around the campfire.

    Thanks for posting that!

  • awesome song keep them coming

  • For all you beginners out there: Strumming pattern is

    d - d - udud - d - du

This is used throughout the song. If you really want it simple just use

    d - d - d - d

    Enjoy! Dean Palacio

  • THANKS!!! IT SOUNDS AWESOME!!!!

  • this is the first praise song that i actually was able to ever play all the way through.. i have been playing it for all this time and had the strumming pattern a little wrong. thanks for clearing that up brother.

    God bless

  • Great lesson, brother Dean!

I have a question about the strum pattern. I was taught that my downstrokes and upstrokes always follow the eighth-note count -- 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & -- of a song, but this strum pattern seems to break that mold.

I don't get how the first upstroke starts at the "3 beat" of the measure. Are there any dotted quarter-notes in the strum pattern?

Again, thanks for the awesome video!

  • The strum pattern here is more of a a 16th note combination. Just watch the video and look at the strum pattern it will make sense. Most basic down - up patterns are eighth notes...you are correct! Blessing Dean

  • Hey forsakic,

I posted an Instructional video with more detail about the strumming pattern. Go and check it out!

  • nice lesson!

i love this song, i learned all the chords, i just need to get a capo.
