  • 1:20 - to THIS DAY I always say "I'm not running" with gene in sync whenever I watched the ad back in the day and now in this same video.

  • thanks for posting this i plain on going to japan and learn how to draw manga i know its long shot but i wont give up

  • this comerical just brings back all the goodtimes.

  • Honestly, I think Toonami was a message to kids to always keep your head up and never give up on your dreams. Wow, hard to believe a cartoon could teach us so much.

  • Thanks, Toonami, for making me fall in love with giant robots. I'm now becoming an animator. :D

  • TOONAMI you were the greatest. Outlaw Star!!! god I miss that anime.

  • Yeah i remember this...beein watchin toonami since the moltar era

  • This makes me remember all the times I would come home from school to watch this. Parents were divorced, and this kept me sane as a kid. Such nostalgia.

  • Merry Christmas Toonami! I will never forget you!

  • oh man. the good ole days

  • because of toonami i say is the reason i want to become a manga artist and work in the anime industry. when i saw toonami first air i was in a daze as to why the cartoons were so different and and when i watch this i remember watching as i first saw this one come in from the darkness on the television and as i sat and let the sunset enter my room and became calm and heard " why was i made? who made me? and what did they make me for? " i knew what i wanted to do when i grew up.

  • These were the only damn TV shows that inspired me to get off my couch and go jog a mile everyday, these shows made me open minded.

  • Youtube, how I hate you!

  • man, I miss those days,...

  • "A boy has the right to dream..."

As soon as the narrator says that, I'm sucked back in time. I'm 7 years old again. It's amazing.

  • This is so amazing. I saw this so many times while watching DBZ as a 7-year-old little girl. Ten years later, this has the same effect on me. Mesmerizing. Awesome.

  • Toonami got me through my teens, the stories and the music got me through the war, and the reminiscing I do now just reminds me that I'm only 24. I'ts time to get on to that second career and keep writing the destiny .

  • If only we had more shows like this in the mainstream. Shows with life lessons and somewhat educational values. Plus, exceptional entertainment qualities. Maybe then, I would think that the youth of America would have a better future. Instead now they have ICarly, Zoey 101, Teen Mom, etc. dumbing down and destroying good. Making subhuman behavior okay and being stupid popular when they should be taught to strive and grow into smart, wise, independent adults... What... the... fuck... happened?!?!

  • Damn. Reading these comments are making me teary eyed. *sigh*

  • Nothing will ever top Toonami.

  • who is the artist for the song? sounds like some song off mezzanine or something.

  • "no one's gonna give you a map, you've gotta walk your own path" that sticked with me from 7 til now, i'm 20, and will be with me forever

  • imagine seeing this on cartoon network again like now :D

  • hhhhnnngggg

I felt like i just heard that yesterday. I need to go download some stuff.

    Nostalgia real fucking hard.

  • my nostalgia just transformed into a super saiyan lol

  • You now realize the guy that's narrating this is the same guy that voiced Jack in Cowboy Bebop

  • @kiba2447 Who the fuck is Jack?

  • @Kappus117 lol meant jet

  • If you compare this to the shit kids watch these days... Kinda scary. Todays shows are stupid and sketchy.

  • The old anime scene on Toonami and Adult Swim put me on a maturity, intelligence, and creativity level FAR beyond my peers elementary through high school.Me and my brother wouldn't even be the same people if we weren't exposed to it.It's actually what inspired my brother to be a writer and me to join the Navy SEALs(The saiyan warriors on DBZ was my drive specifically lol)

  • I remember watching this all day after school then going for long run/walks imagining myself in a gundam or something.

  • Born in 1991 I watched dragonballz on my couch with my bro. Those memories stuck with my while most others memories faded. Gotta say, every time when they aired the Broken Promise video I felt awesome and even when I watch it now can't help but feel like there was nothing I can't do. Being in college this video speaks to me now more than ever.

  • I've looked for this ad forever. Yayy

  • fuuu make me want to cry

  • Thank you Toonami, I am now a Doctor.

  • @mghanim89 engineer god bless them

  • i miss it... its alive in our hearts... i have grown up... and this will ALWAYS bee in the back of my mind!!!!! PUSHING ME! To keep GROWING!

  • toonamiaftermath

  • ....Fuck yeah....

  • its unfortunate that kids today, or even my kids, will never have something like toonami in their lives. thanks for the memories

  • ohhh my god.....man these where the days bro what I'd do to go back

  • this never gets old

  • R.I.P TOONAMI YOU WILL ALWAYS BE WITH US

  • I loved this commercial so much when I was little. I recorded it and watched it over and over.

I can't believe I forgot how badass the animes I grew up with were.

  • "Believe in yourself and create your own destiny, don't be a failure."

    Words to live by.

  • @Jamsessionroom1337

    "Don't fear failure."

  • Holy fuck nostalgia

  • woooow I remember this exact commercial.. From tv being one of the most exciting thing to watch in my spare time to not turning on my tv at all... R.I.P toonami.

  • song name?

  • Damn nostalgia, making me shed manly tears.

  • Man, I would give anything to get Toonami back. They were awesome back then, shame they had to close. Cartoon Network, Hell, TV in general, has turned to shit in the last few years. I wish I actually savored the moments when Toonami was on, didn't actually know that they would stop broadcasting.

  • Flood was here.

  • Hard to believe Cartoon Network dumped this for Johnny Test. What bullshit.

  • @J01789

    Wait, what?

  • @IOYB Crazy, right?

  • @J01789

Toonami aired from 4:00-6:00. They dumped a two-hour block for a half-hour show? I have no clue what went on with it, so fill me in, man.

  • @IOYB What I meant to say was, Cartoon Network dumped a two hour block of awesome shows for some cheap gimmicks of shows. I just named one of those shows.

  • damn i feel old, if only i could time travel (looks at car) hmmmmm whats the worst that could happen

you could screw the time line up if it works.

shut up i wanna go back to a time when T.V. ment something to me and i didn't have to search for something good to watch

  • Kinda sounds like "tricky - overcome"

  • Its seem like when toonami got canceled, my life went upside down. It felt I had no one in life and had failing at school. But sometimes when I listen to this song I feel better inside. I feel inspired.

  • Toonami meant alot to me, there's something more to it but what is it, could it be I emotionly attached it with my life, I'm truely sad inside. Just come back toonami come back.

  • Its things like these that make me realize im getting old

  • Comment removed

  • fuck i should have bought that time machine when i had the chance know im stuck here watching the dumb ass shows tom come pick me up

  • This is my childhood. Toonami and video games.

  • I miss Toonami. I remember those days when I actually enjoy watching Cartoon Network, and many of its classic cartoons. Now, I only watch it for its Adult Swim programming. Sorry, but the cartoons they have now SUCK, including this live "game show" I always pass by.

  • @DennisQLy yea this was great. I wish I cud go baq and re-live it all over again.

  • Man, I want that stuff back.

  • What is the anime at 1:03 about space travel?

  • @Thevideoclown Outlaw Star I believe.

  • very inspirational

  • Because of Toonami. I'm so actually inspired to make my own animated Science Fiction. (I said this as vol009S but my account got deleted)

  • This video just changed my day from crappy to awesome :D

    Thank you Toonami.

  • Man this brings back old memories. ^^

Coming home seeing Tv. And trying to rush your Home work on the commercials.

    XD

  • I'd almost say its sad that alot of the shows on Toonami helped defined who I am as a person, but seeing just how beautifully this video was put together makes that not seem so silly at all. Whats even better is I get the sense from other commenters that this feelings is wide spread. Makes the universe seem a little more managable. Thank you.

  • Man ol man Nostalgia was on me all year since Toonami died.

  • "A boy has the right to dream..."

Words to live by, this whole thing.

  • What was that first anime, Outlaw or something, then is it Yu Yu Hakasho? God i miss toonami.

  • @MyTailFilms Outlaw Star

  • @MyTailFilms Outlaw Star and tenchi muyo

  • Comment removed

  • I agree sir Toonami needs a channel.

  • @DarkDilemma21 google toonami aftermath...thank me later

  • incredible haaha

  • ugh screw this. i have so many nostalgic nights where id find myself hating life cuz i had it pretty bad when i was a kid (being the new kid, homework, ect.) then id see shit like this on tv and it just make me forget my troubles and put a smile on my face and in my heart.

why cant tv do that anymore? is because i have grown to old for this stuff? lmao prolly not but new cartoonetwork and disney is depressing -__-

  • Toonami was the only block that I can say, with confidence, not only cared about its viewers, but respected them, to an extent. They kept up a pretty good plot (Let that sink in, a plot for a PROGRAMMING BLOCK), and let the fans have a hand in "helping" TOM through those two events they had to defend the ship.

Not only that, but promos like this, which didn't really promote any show or sell a product, were made just to touch the hearts of its viewers.

  • These promos always hat good beats.

  • Toonami wasn't just an afternoon block for me. It was a defining moment of my life. This ad defines me so well, it's like I subconsciously took who I am from this ad alone.

  • lol, funny how we took those days for granted, we just, always assumed they would stay ,you know

  • @lanceintersection144 before semptember 11th 2000-fun

  • @cvhashim bro those days will be profound man

  • @lanceintersection144 Too true man, too true :( Toonami has such a special place in my heart and always will...they seriously need to give Toonami its own channel

  • @theLastKnight70 yeah son, this video right here just makes me enjoy every second of everything I value in life, thanks to videos like this bro

  • @lanceintersection144

It's sad. I miss these shows, they were so good. RIP good TV.

  • @MtnDwGrl But for some strange reason it was more than the show son there was something about it that became a big part of our childhood

  • Believe in yourself and create your own destiny, don't fear failure.

  • soon as i started watching this vid, i felt like i was back in my parents' house, sitting on the couch at 4 pm and waiting for DBZ to start.

  • I want this beat!

  • As I go on, I feel like I'm leaving Toonami behind :(, somebody everybody please keep it strong

  • I just came from Genericon in Troy, and they were screening some really great stuff there. they were doing showings of the original dub of outlaw star, cowboy bebop, steam detectives and Tenchi, and I was really hit by the magnitude of how much I missed the days when anime was at it's peak over here. the nostalgia that this stirs up for me is almost painful, and when I look at some of the stupid shit that they've replaced it with, stuff that gets canceled after a year's run...I want to go back.

  • I used to come back every day from school, and rush my homework just so I could get in front of the tv in time to watch all of Toonami. Even when it was showing reruns I would watch it from start to finish every day. For me and my friends it defined our childhood. We enjoyed these promos as much as the cartoons which is saying something. I wish they'd bring this back or give it its own channel. Thanks for everything toonami, I wish I could go back and enjoy you for just one more day.

  • ok seriously I only recognize DBZ, what are the others?

  • @FoxForever90 Outlaw Star, Tenchi, and I believe Gundam Wing hope that helps.

  • @FoxForever90 haha that's how it used to be when I first saw it :)

  • yeah, after 72,504 views and 817 likes, its only natural that 6 people missed the like button. it takes practice ya know. but they finally got it right and now its 823 likes:)

  • toonami gave me som many positive messages growing up.

  • Back in the day... Cartoon Network really DID know how to do cartoons, especially anime. Sucks that now the only way to find a good anime series is to stay up until like 2 AM on a Sunday Morning to watch FMA, or Ghost In The Shell. And they used to have some of the most badass gimmicks, like the New Years Evil marathon that one year.

  • @SoaringEagle90 Yeah! what happened to good cartoon stations! Now a days most of the cartoons don't convey a moral or even a interesting story. Just bad art direction and annoying characters.

  • Omg I remember when I was a little girl coming home after school and watching sailor moon tenchi and outlaw star damn time flys by don't u ever wish u could just go back

  • My only regret is that my kids won't grow up with Toonami. It makes me sad. I am so blessed for being able to grow up with it. I feel so sorry for everybody before and everybody after me. Everyone deserves that childhood. If everyone had it, the world would be a much better place.

  • ill never forget getting home around 4:00 after school and sit through the justice leauge so i wouldnt miss a second of toonami. i remember having the weekend off and wake up at 11:40 so i could watch the weekend viewing, staying up late was a given just to watch how the anime was meant to be seen. Ill never forget the first time i actually seen blood in a anime was the namic saga on dbz. i was in shock and aww. i miss those days man.

  • This brings back so many good memories. I don't know why I just remembered about this commercial when I just woke up it just came to me out of nowhere. I love the beat background too!

  • this was the greatest commercial that toonami ever aired...it made me feel invincible everytime it came on...

  • youtube(dot)com/watch?v=WJPjeOOJJI8&feature=player_embedded Toonami is back!

  • dang homie u brought back gud childhood memories 2nd grade to i say bout through middle school i remember coming home from school rushing homework waiting for toonami at 4-7. They'll never able to out do toonami

  • Welcome to Toonami AfterMath baby! google it

  • So sad. :(

  • Toonami=my childhood

  • 6 people fear failure

  • The words "Believe in yourself and create your own destiny, don't fear failure" - Toonami; are tattooed on my arm.

  • An advertisement that's infinitely cooler than the things it's actually advertising.

    Just keep running away...

  • Comment removed

  • I feel bad for the kids that missed out on this.

  • 6 people missed the like button

  • Watching this always gave me the chills. Now AND then. God, I miss Toonami...

  • All the Toonami people are working on Adult Swim now.

  • *Sniffle*

Those were the days...I feel bad for the kids who have to watch... "The CN".

The kids are being deprived on some totally awesomeness and are forced to watch... "It's Adventure time!" or whatever the hell the show is called. Cartoon Network died the moment Toonami was removed.

  • Damn! I miss every sec of this:)

  • The best anime mix and epicness ever.

  • G4 should pick up toonami and bring back old runs with today anime. what a dream that could be!!

  • @spiketito G4 would have to have a brain first. Plus they got canceled from Directv ahaha...

  • i fucking hate you i fucking cried my eyes out this sucks i miss it all.....

  • The 6 people who disliked this have no soul.

  • @BloodyPooProductions ...or they've never watched toonami. Pity their deprived souls...

  • I miss my childhood.

  • omg i remember this commercial when i was lik 7 lol omg it was so fucking inspirational to me. "a boy has the right to dream" great words. good times and yea this made my childhood great. cominig home from school rush my hw and dbz lol gewd times

  • holy shit this shit makes me nostalgia soooo hard, it makes my eyes water.

  • Toonami = Epic

  • This one was the deepest Toonami did

  • @brose333

    agreed

  • See you, Space Cowboy.

  • I see characters from Dragonball Z and Outlaw Star, but what are the other animes shown in this video?

  • These shows, I watched after school, staring with DBZ and Gundam Wing, when I was in 5th grade. I watched till highschool ended in 07. The characters, the good guys, I learned alot about honor and courage from them. I can honestly say I fear nothing except Failure, because of stories like these that inspire me. I see alot of fear from the younger people I know. They are unfortunate.

  • Those who watched these shows are easy to see today. They're the ones who are respectful to those around them, arent overly loud, and remind me of myself. I pity the younger people I see and work with. I can see the lack of honor in them, and it makes me sad for the future.

  • Great cartoons and great words of wisdom, Toonami was the best. It still is the best, I've never stopped watching the promos on youtube.

  • They should gave Toonami their own channel instead of boomerang.

  • @TreFolk274 or put toonami on boomerang. That way everyone wins.

  • @sexxyperv yeah true that would have been smart I do like some shows on boomerang. Both bring back great memories.

  • I Miss Toonami R.I.P. thumbs up if you agree :(

  • "Believe in yourself and create your own desinty. Don't fear failure."

True words of wisdom that I will remeber for as long as I live

RIP Toonami; the very thing that made my childhood worthwhile

  • @BoyWhoDisappeared I always thought it was "fate". What you put makes a lot more sense though! Thanks for that.

  • @JCAznDude I thought the same thing at first too, but you have to listen very carefully, you hear him say 'failure'

  • Technology's ascending well. It's better than tape recording those TV shows & waiting till they come on again on those stupid TV guide channels. The greatest thing about technology is that people hold onto things, & when they hold onto things, they share it with other people on the internet so they can have that same memory too, such as this video. Things will be gone from places, but they will never go away & be forgotten. They'll always be out there, either in our memories or on the internet.

  • I can say that things were definitely better back then when growing up. Good cartoons, family gatherings, Etc. But I admit that it's a beautiful thing living today. Even when the economy is so bad, I'm actually lucky that I'm not born during the 60s & 70s either because it was far more worse than this. We're lucky to be born at the right time where we can still remember how the 20th century was, and how better the 21st century is.

  • @DatEnigmatic You have no idea what the '60s were like. You have no idea that it was actually further ahead than things are now, that, thanks to all the conservative crap culture has regressed. You're drinking the revisionist Kool-Aid, and you think you know something. You were probably born after Reagan, so you have no clue of the poisoning he and his cronies did to this society. Stick to thing you know something about.

  • @hektor6766 Even though the economy is bad & the government does crooked stuff, I wouldn't say that the economy has "regressed". I could say that many people are becoming more smarter about their health because many were not educated on what they've consumed in their bodies many years ago, so that was a major improvement.

  • @hektor6766 What about how far minorities had to come? Most minorities couldn't go to a proper school, or get groceries to feed their families without being segregated & served poor nutrition. I may not be born in the 60s, but I'm grateful that I didn't go through what my race has been through because maybe I wouldn't be well today. Maybe I would of spread hate to my children & tell them not to date this or that race because of what they did.

  • @hektor6766 It's funny how you said "You're drinking the revisionist Kool-Aid, and you think you know something." But I wonder are you even more knowledgeable of what substances you're putting into your own body, because I'm aware of what I'm putting in my body & if it has pros or cons. But I don't drink Kool-Aid. It's a waste of money. I drink filtered water from my fridge because I don't trust lots of liquid consumptions, not even bottled waters.

  • @DatEnigmatic You don't know the difference between culture and economy (though the decade was prosperous, with much more job security than there is now). You don't know about Brown v Board of Ed, Martin Luther King, Carl Stokes, Freedom Riders, etc. You don't think there are still racists out there, with more access to microphones than ever. You don't know that "drinking the Kool-Aid" is an expression for believing the propaganda ha someone else feeds you without finding out for yourself.

  • @DatEnigmatic "more smarter" fails at 4th grade grammar. And the reference to "substances" shows you believe the lies you've been told that everything was drug culture. Also, as for race, one of my teachers was the brother of Angela Davis, and he was much more intelligent, and cooler, than you'll ever be. Don't blame your race for your own ignorance.

  • don't be afraid to follow the Lord

  • Damn I punch myself ever day for not recording these promos when they came on. and now I will never see them again... well on tv at least

  • Reality T. V. killed this shit.

  • This video has 666 thumbs up

  • Remember when cartoon network wasn't shitty?

  • i do to
