Not everything that clerics do in the name of the Church carries canonical authority. If I decided to set up my own "U.S. court" and started to hang people whom I didn't like, would you say that what I am doing is actually sanctioned by the U.S. Gov't? or the people of the U.S.? She was sentenced to death by a kangaroo court of pro-English clerics who were trying to feather their own nests by collaborating with English invaders against the King of France. Since atheism says we came from nothing and have no God, then life itself means nothing. If there is no reason for anything then and all moral conduct is just "going throught the motions". Atheism does not necessarily say we came from nothing. However for something to exist (1), nothing has to exist (0). As far as no god, no meaning to life and no morals (subjective), that is your problem. Most normal people just enjoy the life they have. Live this life, not worry about kissing up to some flying spaghetti monster in the sky.

Sorry to disagree with you on the "big bang" but, yes, modern science says that we came from nothing..or that all matter was at "infinite density" for eternity with "quantum foam" bubbling up from sub-atomic interactions. An example is the fact that it runs over 8,200 orphanages in the world. Try something to counter that, and don't bother trying to bring up the sexual abuse cases, which I bet you will do.
