yo whats up, just chilling in my dads testicle and im really liking the sound of this song, oh wait i have to go now i can see something in the distance bye
@BassNM No. Sperm cells have no access to computers. Furthermore, they have no brain with which they could make words and sentences, and they have no fingers, or muscles, to type with.
@AmalgamOfMeat he's saying that cuz of all the stupid "im 15 and love this music" type comments when we repeatedly tell them no one gives a shit how old they are.
Hendrix did for for guitar for anyone who has come before him or after him. (Besides maybe Les Paul...) No one had ever used feedback like he did. He took blues, and created a whole new genre for future generations. He inspired more guitarist than anyone else in history. Music today would be nothing like it is today, if it weren't for hendrix.
I'm 55 years old and I listen a lot to music of the 60 70 and also some artists that are still alive and new one's that are good, but Jimi Hendrix is just well he'es beyond words and concepts, he'es totally cosmic, a God, a skyrider...and to me the best musician I've ever heard and seen by the way, on video. I never get tired of listening to his pieces, I recognize his guitar immediately and he's just like no-one else at all...
It really is him. Back in the vinyl days I had a bunch of Hendrix records, official and compilations. This was included on one of the compilations, released in Europe under the title "Historia De La Musica Rock." This was included, as well as numerous others which sounded more like traditional Hendrix jams."
@tedmcgyver Who cares if he's older? There's a lot of younger musicians that are more talented than older musicians, age has nothing to do with music at all. It's wrong to say that without Hendrix e wouldn't have these bands, people don't look at just one band for inspiration - I'm sure Muse and Dream Theater were inspired by Hendrix partly but they were inspired by many other bands too.
What I don't get is why a load of people just say that Hendrix is the best guitarist ever, I think he's brilliant but is he really as technically skilled as someone like John Petrucci? Does he really have the onstage presence as people like Matt Bellamy?
I greatly respect Jimi Hendrix but given how many different styles of playing there are and how everyone seems to appreciate different things in guitarists can you really say he's the greatest?
He was the innovator. People have since expanded on him, but he took the biggest leap foreward in the history of the instrument. Music may have wound up where it is anyway, but Hendrix shot it foreward in the biggest leap ever.
@5jerry1 I get what you're saying but I think it's unfair to assume Hendrix was the bigget innovator in musical history - he is certainly a source of inspiration to millions of people but there are many other huge musicians that might have inspired more people. That's subjective really...
I would say he helped set the stage for what came after. I used to have a VHS tape that had an interview with Pete Townshend talking about Hendrix ("The 60's -Plugging In"), and he said one felt very small in his presence. This, with the hundreds and hundreds of hours of live shows and jam sessions he taped in only four years, he really made a legacy for himself.
I guess it is subjective as you say, but he really did make a quantum leap for the instrument's progress.
@IchHasseDasSausage dude, hendrix is best not as much for his skill, but for his innovations, because without him, guitarists wouldent have near as many tools to use, both the guitarists you have mentioned are incredably skilled, but your comparing blues-like music to heavy metalish type music, thats two compleatly different styles of guitar. But heavy metal wouldent exist without hendirx and his innovations, so thats why he is best in my opinion, but, to each his own.
@boxingin bro its clear that jimi hendrix is playing. in jimi's songs you get a certain effect that is different from that of satriani or steve vai. his technique is great and no one can ever play like him. although you wont get tabs for this song.
I had this record when I was in HS, and had copied it onto a cassette that I played in my car. We used to drive all over at night and listen to this, among others. Hearing it makes me feel like I'm back in my '66 Mustang driving late at night in the country . . .
