  • How did you secure the Perspex?

  • @lucksox good old PVA glue, sticks awesome to MDF :)

  • Hey, I started my companion cube. All I have right now is a box with a door. How did you do the perspex and the rim on the Perspex?

  • @lucksox all the perspex in my cube is routed in to the necessary depth so it sits flush. Probably best seen at 2:20, highly recommend using a vacuum cleaner while mass routing and a good dust mask

  • i relly want to by it

  • Thanks!

  • What are the dimensions of the cube? Thanks.

  • @Gnenguin to house a 12" sub proportionately my cube is around 550 mm oa each side

  • Thank you!

  • What is your box made of? Was that a casting mold that you put on your box? How did you do the lighting? Was the Subwoofer ported?

  • @lucksox mostly MDF shaped with a router and a few jigs. lighting is as custom as you want it, leds to fluros- microcontrollers etc etc. this sub is ported 400w 12" tuned to 30 Hz

  • Hello, I'm seriously interested in re-creating your weighted companion cube subwoofer. I have some questions. I would greatly appreciate any advice you could offer.

  • @lucksox what do you want to know?

  • @Imt222

    Dont forget the radio!

  • And I forgot volpin's portal gun. Complete set :-)

  • Oh, and the wheatley puppet from the related vids!

  • I don't even need the whole subwoofer in it. Just give me the cube, and I will install a battery in it to power it's lights.

  • O_O AWESOME!

  • WHERE CAN I BUY IT!!!!!!??????????

  • awsome

  • machst du mir auch einen :D ich kauf ihn auch ab xD

  • The Valve company would smile on your work =)

  • there's gonna be like so much WUB in the cube man :p awesome job!

  • SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!

  • @ImalionRAwRz I would consider a swap for a buell xb12r

  • 1 person hasn't played portal

  • wow this looks AWESOME! :D

  • Dude (or dudette) you could make so much profit selling these portal being one of the most popular games!

  • @jakenator13 believe me I have thought about it :) Hopefully in the next couple weeks I will have the arduino powering all the led arrays in some cool pattern, still waiting for parts :(

  • dude. you are totally awesome. we all miss the companion cube. when the companion cube was burned we cried.... when the companion cube was given back at the end of portal 2 we rejoiced. thank you. so much. (sorry for the spoiler....)

  • Damn... how much you want for one of those seriously!

  • Seriously man, you are AWESOME. The care you took when making it, your skill and patience, i can't even begin to say how proud I am to be seeing this.

  • @urbannusThanks mate, wait till you see what I have done with the lights, will put another clip of that when its complete ;)

  • LOL GIIIIVVVE IT TOOO MEEE

  • I want one DX

  • 0:41

    a box in a box...

    Boxception :O

  • WOW that's impressive! Nice work!

  • I want this thingy so bad :O

  • This is the song for the comic isn't it

  • That is sick! :D

  • ratman art <3 cool

  • this is amazing :O

    fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu**** awesome :D

  • is this exile vilify?

  • @Echoparticle yes

  • YOU WIN AT LIFE. Just saying!

  • Simply amazing.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand boner.

  • Looks good Bruzwa, Is that my one? Or is it still getting made, if so can you make it green. thanks..

  • @blakeos green....? That's like blasphemy lol, not bad for converting my old bed base hey..

  • @bruzwa yeah looks cool no one else has one on youtube. one person has a cardboard one. nothing like yours. i'll order greem 20" sub thanks

  • if you do not mind me asking how much did this run u?

  • @EmperorMaximus17 how much did this run me? I'm not sure what your asking...?

  • @bruzwa the cost of the materials the wood, leds, resistors, paint, parts for the subwoofer, the materials that held it all together. that sort of thing. do you have a general idea of their cost or even a list of materials? that was more along the lines of my inquiry. if you could send me any of that info i would be greatly appreciative thank you

  • @EmperorMaximus17 I have an approximate cost of materials alone which is still climbing because I'm working on the lighting system at the moment but I'm sitting on about $2k which doesn't include 80% of the MDF (which I already had) or the man hours to create and install everything.

  • AWESOME :)

  • A MASTER PEACH OF WORK AMAZING !!!!!!!

  • you shoud make a tutorial

  • @rontheginger that would mean that I would have to build another one :S should I?

  • @bruzwa Yes yes yes! Then you'll have two companion cube subs so not only would you have that much more BASS but we'd be able to do it too =D

  • @BicycleRider09 do companion cubes get jealous? glados says that they will never threaten to stab you but who knows if there is two of them in the same room

  • @bruzwa Hmmmmm a fair question. But, I think that they would get along if they were given the same amount of attention and played music they both liked lol

  • @bruzwa YES YOU SHOULD :D it was so awesome

  • @rontheginger I will think about it, but not another sub.. this one has cost enough as it is

  • @bruzwa MAKE ANOTHEZR ONE PLZEZ I GETS ALL MY PEEPS TO SUBS TO jOO!

  • One dislike? Obviously never had a Companion Cube for himself.

  • Why no sound test? Does the sub not work?

  • @daveyrich89 Sound test coming soon, I have the sub running with my z5500's but I need a better cam to record all the low Hz sound, + I would like to have the lighting addition finished (arduino) but that may take longer than anticipated. Probably just do a sound test, soon though mate

  • That's the meaning of awesomeness.

  • Im throwing money at my computer screen but nothing is happening!

  • AMAZING! But what I wanna know is who is the moron that actually disliked this.

  • I love the attention to detail. The Ratman art inside the 'hidden wall' is genius.

  • @juliengarneau Cheers, I thought it would be fitting touch, and being inside the box you can't see how dodgie my art really is lol better stick to carpentry I think ;)

  • 2:44 I AM IRONMAN!

  • "A box in a box"....Boxception?!

  • @95ninjakid What is the most resilient parasite? Bacteria? A virus? An intestinal worm? A cube idea

  • That is awesome man. Great work. Kinda want my own now. For future if u feel like doing more. Make turret surround speakers ;P

  • @Sakk0 you read my mind lol, they look hard to make :S and a calibration button to raise the cube's port off the ground ;)

  • @bruzwa Yeah i do imagine those beeing a bit tricky to make, specialy if you want them to well u know. Open and close like in the game. Wich of course would be a waste not to do when you have started. But it would be pretty sick to be in that living room looking at it.

  • @Sakk0 maybe using plastic moulds or better yet fibreglass casting it could work hmmm maybe in the future. Turn the power on to the systems and the turrets say 'there you are' lol

  • @bruzwa fibreglass might work. Easy to mold and easy to work with. Trick would be the sides of the turrets to get them to go automaticly inn and out via a button or sumth. Could do it simple though with just rails and magnets to keep them inn and click system to get them out. But your idea with buildt inn voice would be awesome with the automatic activation of the turret. Damn, Im getting excited here myself. And i got some spare time. hmmmm ;P

  • @Sakk0 that could work, someone has made one that senses movement and speaks! bit of modifying and you could have a turret satellite. Worth looking into I think but one thing at a time for me

  • Why the dislikes? You work at Black Mesa or something?

  • JUST TAKE MY MONEY! I am SO willing to buy one of these if you would sell one :D

  • @sunakotsubaki maybe I should look into bulk production, shipping would be astronomical though- the companion cube weighs a ton, I might weigh it at some time ;)

  • @bruzwa god, if you did sell one I would tottaly buy one :D

  • Sir or ma'am, we are sending you a cake and real confetti. You are amazing, I just shed tears. That is the most beautiful encarnation of love I've ever seen in my life

  • @ChaosAgent971 Thankyou :) woohoo cake!! and real confetti!!

  • what`s the song?

  • @TheTooweird 'exile vilify' by 'the national'

  • I would love to have one for me. Nice work.

how long dit it took you to build it and are you going to start a buisness?? :P

  • @guitarPRO967 the total build took about 2-3 months but I'm not completely done with it yet- thinking of an arduino circuit for controlling individual lights and I need to make a small stand to elevate the cube from the ground- was thinking maybe a calibration button... ;)

  • I can has instructions?

  • @TheyCallMeInsane to tell the truth mate I didn't really have any plans- I made the box, then proportioned all the pieces to look as close as possible by drawing them on the cube, then made jigs to mass produce the corner detail

  • O.O WANT

  • Give this man some internetz cause clearly he won some.

  • you better play "Still Alive" when its working. if not i will be severely disappointed

  • @xXW0lfD3M0nXx that can be arranged ;)

  • @bruzwa Play the music, record it, and upload it to us. We want to see it in action!

  • I would so love to have one of these in the back of my car. =]

  • It is niceeee

  • i legitly need one by the end of the semester, hints, tips, price?

also: would you be willing to sell that one?

  • @fredotron depends on how big you want it to be, MDF is the choice of wood and jigs- make lots of jigs to simplify all the shaping needed to be done. price will vary to the size and if you want it to light up, well more cost.. Sorry mate not for sale, and if I did I would be like the fastest test subject to euthanise my weighted companion cube

  • This was absolutely amaze. I want it so badly.

  • Jizz in my pants I want one

  • When's there gonna be a video of it in action!? Looks amazing, the leds really work well.

  • @Cloud6556 Soon I hope. I'm working on a unit that will make all the leds sound reactive and I need a better cam (one with a decent mic) to pick up all the low Hz sound

  • Awesome work. BTW what's the name of the track playing? why does it sound so familiar?

  • @Sysaphys "Exile Vilify" by The National (I think...)

It's in Portal 2, I believe it plays if you bring a radio into a certain Ratman's den... I don't quite remember though...

It was written for Portal 2, and is a representation of Rattmann's character.

  • @Sysaphys Thankyou :) the track is 'exile vilify' from 'the national', its from the game

  • SHATTAP AND TAYKE MAH MONEEZ.

  • Comment removed

  • sick

  • thanks mate, I did experiment with el wire and perspex but couldn't get it to light evenly :( so 2500 leds later... you can get a sound activated kit for the el wire too, works surprisingly well

  • Lights are very cool! I used EUROLITE EL 2mm 10m red fiber, but yours looks much better! :)

  • Nice work!
