  • good job! :D

  • the horses at my riding school are so lazy i can hardly get them to stay at a steady trot much less a canter.

  • @girlzrock277 well our school horses were lazy too but now we give them some type of energy food and there not as lazy as they were!!! ;)

  • is your helmet troxel?

  • @girlzrock277 you mean traxel? i have an international brand helmet which is wonderful!

  • you have such a good seat, and your horse is georgous xx

  • You look great for your FIRST time cantering.

  • @nubianqa817 It wasn't her first. It was her first time cantering HER HORSE.

  • beautyiful seat:) idk how long ago this video was? 2007 ? im sure u have improved greatly but here it looks as if your pullig on his mouth cos his head isnt round!! but im sure you two have improved greatly! gorgeous horse! good team <3

  • ermm people did u not read the desc. this isnt her 1st CANTER its her first time cantering her horse!!!

  • pretty impressive for the first time i go to canter about 5 months ago trust me it gets harder

  • Yesterday I rode STB but she was pacer so I stand up....

  • perfect!

I finally canter on TB about 4 days ago, haven't canter since last year and feel amazing !

But I don't sat on saddle like you do & I just stand up just like jockey on TB/STB :P

  • i cantered for the first time last sunday. bloody hell! its amazing! it would of been better tho if i fit the horse, he was a little small coz my usuall horse had done too much work on saturday.

  • my first time cantering was when i was 6 and i had a crAZY instructor who taught me to jump before i couyld canter :) but now i can still remember that amzing feeling of your first canter stride

  • Your first time, actually??

  • I fell off a few times cantering horses for the first time, when I got on the horse I have now and cantered I got obsessed with it aha, But my EQ wasn't as good as yours! Well done.

  • Very good for ur first time! just remeber keep ur leg still!

  • @Jamesina1 Cantering the HORSE the first time but the first time cantering at all for her xD

  • Very "elegant" Horse!:) You are very good too:) Yeah she collected SOME not too much though, just not enough lol, remember, shorten ur reins up a smidge:) Just giving tips other than that it was beautiful:)

  • my frist time cantering was 4 1/2

  • Beautiful horse , what kind is she/he ?

  • r u cantering for the first time or cantering on ur horse for the first time?

  • @gothgothic8 with the horse i think she is to good to be cantering for the first time i thinl

  • i used to hate cantering i got really scared :L now i cant get enough of it.

My riding instructor Lauras always telling me to slow down. haha . well done though in your video you look really comfortable and not too stiff up there. keep it up. how long have you been cantering? have you cantered bareback yet? x

  • I still know how I cantered for the first time with a 'leasehorse' I once had.

Man, she was terribly stiff somehow o.o

But I'm glad she got more smooth every time she got in canter (over a longer period of time, ofcourse) again <3

It was lovely to see you and your horse cantering .w.

I hope you still have her and enjoy her ^^

  • wow that is one beauitfule mare!! you guys are great together have you jumped yet? Its fun i ride a 25year old chestnut mare i know shes old but she's one of the fastest horses there and when i first cantered on her i loved it but when we jumped even better it just feels like your fl;ying i really tust her do you trust your horse??? do not do anything wrong because if you walk trot and even canter on bareback it will help grow a really good bond!! <3 you look good for your first time its fun!!!!

  • Your great! I remember my first time cantering it is soooo mch fun right? :)

  • This is your first time? Your canter is beautiful! :)

  • i hope u get to gallop it is SOOO much fun!!! :D

  • I got to canter today for the first time and I don't think I was that good...... But I was riding bareback... And it hurt. :D lol.

  • I cantered for the first time in my last riding lesson its sooo gr8!!

  • i doubt that it was your first time but it was awesome!!!!

  • my friend hit my horse on the butt and he cantered and i wish i can learn moms to much of a worker to help me learn i wish i have some horse friends insted of popy one. have any ideas of how to canter?

  • My horse dream is to learn to ride a horse and own a ranch. Small chance that will happen...the ranch anyways. :'(

  • @SaddleClub345 If you want to learn to ride a horse, look for horse riding stables that give lessons in your area. That's how I started 2 years ago and now I part lease my friends horse! It's almost as if she's my own! You will get there, just start off small!

  • i recently started horseback riding and havent cantered yet. can someone please explain to me what the differences are from cantering and trotting?

  • @Frenchtoaststicks29 Okay well trotting is more of a bounce and its like a slow run but its harder to balance on than a canter because you bouncing but on a cantering its very fast (depending on your horse) and you have to keep giving the horse little kicks so it will know to keep cantering but its a very smooth ride and you just got to keep your heels down and squeeze your calves but after awhile its easy but for the most part its so much fun and you won't stop smiling when you start it! (:

  • @xojillbabeyxo okay thank you so much! im sure it will be so much fun! :D

  • i cantered for the first time todayy & it was soo fun and i loved ittt (:

  • @xojillbabeyxo i know i just started canter its so fun :D

  • @wolfdemondxx haha yeah!:D like i was terrified at first because i thought i was gonna fall but its actually smooth and much easier than trotting haha

  • @xojillbabeyxo well i havent had a proper canter yet but atm its very fun :D

  • congrats on the horse he/she is beautiful and has really nice strides and you guys are a perfect match

  • Isn't it weird when you can do trotting and cantering in an arena then go out on an open field and it feels like you have soo much freedom???!!!

  • The first time I cantered I misjudged the distance between two standards, chickened out, and fell "gracefully". My first fall too. :)

    Yup, big day.

  • You look pretty good! The first time I cantered I looked like an old granny! All hunched over and my seat was awful!! Haha. Nice job for your first time

  • first time i cantered i was only riding one week and fell off! you look really good but some tips are for not having a good seat- sit back keep your heels down! and just let your hips swing with your horse :) my instructor always told to me think of as im rocking on a rocking chair lol and it actually works!! i hope that helps....

  • i was at "oqn a pony week" its 60 pounds 0.0 but i was trottingm my leadrainer let go i was almost in canter i was like WTF 0.0

  • Very pretty horse! Nice video. :)

  • Thats great! The first time i canter was by accident. I didnt realize Bo was cantering,so i didnt gain the correct seat untill the last moment! Oops!!

  • You looked sooo good on there. I cantered for the 1st time bareback yesterday. Im bringing my friend over today and she and i are going riding :)

  • You make it look so easy! I think its so scary!

  • For your first time cantering, this is pretty damn good. ;) Keep up the good work!

  • so elegant. ive been watching "first canter" vids all afternoon and urs is the first where i wasnt talking to the comp saying "tighten ur reins!" or "heels down!" lol great job. ur both so graceful

  • are the reins blue? that's so awesome!

  • Does anyone have any tips for Cantering i ahve been riding for a few months now any have been practcing Canter for a while and i just can't get it when i ride big heavy 15hh cobs i can cater perfectly on them or so i am told. :P put when it comes to riding ponies i can't get it and i boince around in the saddle every time :( and have near fallen off so if you have any tips please help.

  • @44HorseyGirl I think the problem to this is your leg isn't tight enough. On the Cob, they are very round and easier to maintain your balance on. The pony is thinner bodied and not as easy. Try keeping your heels down and tightening your leg and thigh. Also keep the weight in your sturrips the same. Hope this helps :-)

  • thats a beautiful canter especially for your first time!!!

  • oh my! your very good for your first time cantering :O im quite wobbly and i bounce :S but im starting to sit down and do it better :D

  • If he is 17 hands you must be quite tall!

  • beautiful horse!

  • tomorow ive gotta go 2 horseridin and canter 4 da 1st time is it fast?

  • @992christina not if he is good and collected. its not fast... if you gallop its obviously then fast lol

  • Your good I started cantering last year! And I fell off!

  • oh goodness i remember the first time i cantered,,i thought i was going to fall of hahaha

  • I cantered for the first time in about 2 years today all because I didn't have the confidence to start learning how to again :\ but I now regret not having that confidence because it is now my most favorite part of riding :D next to Jumping XD <3

  • Try to canter at the same time no Reigns no strups

  • my first time i didn hold on and i fell secoond time it was about three steps at a im three times third time i held on and went about five steps at a time fouth time (yesterday) I did without hands and for the firt time i didnt fell like i was going a million mph but i started in a turn she too a stride to fast and well you can guess

  • fun isnt it? wait till ya got the confidence to let go, then we can talk about fun XD

  • My first time cantering was yesterday...SOO FUN!!!! :) Btw You have very nice horse

  • Better flopping reins that pulling back! Clearly you have the legs to guide him without reins. As you get more experiance, try squeezing him on with your calves to "push him into the bit" and gain a bit of collection. He may speed up a bit, but it will help him to utilize his hind quarters which drives the gain and collection. A beautiful horse and a nice first time!

  • I have got 1 tip for you, I hve orginally been riding for 10years and I own Bobby Sparrow Blue, Keep your reins alot tighter it will hep you relax more and feel more confidient Btw Beautiful horse Just like my albert

  • This wasnt her first time cantering on a horse, It was the first time her horse had cantered. And the horse hadnt been introduced to collected reins yet,

  • I remember cantering for the first time :)

  • I cantered for the first time today, I absolutely love it and I hoped you do to :)

  • @BunnyzAreHot

Isn't it exciting when u canter for the first time? Did you do it with one hand holding on to the saddle and the other holding the reins or what?

  • @Chipisdabest9 I did it without holding on at all :)

  • @BunnyzAreHot

Cool, some trainers have u hold on.!

  • @BunnyzAreHot hey i know its like your just flying

  • @saifsimpson I know :'D I'm getting used to it now, apperently, jumping is on the horizon XD

  • @BunnyzAreHot I'm not up to cantering yet, still perfecting my trot. I can't wait to canter though :D Is it really just, like so amazing like everyone says?

I mean everyone makes it out to be so amazing but people exaggerate you know, ahaha.

  • @jessyrulz94 It's feel really nice :] I guess there over exagerating a tiny bit, but you feel so proud of youself when you do it ^_^

  • when you canter, you have to be able to feel the horses mouth, loose reins will mean your horse isn't collected. pick up your reins more, don't canter on loose reins. and in response to you saying "you don't know my horse. he didnt know what collection was at the time" horses know what collection is. it's up to the rider to put it into play. most horses are the same when it comes to collection. they know what it is and need a strong rider to put it into place (:

  • AWE!!! he's so cute hahah I just bought a pony and i made a vid on me and her cantering for the first time!! im make a vid response

  • love your horse! :o

  • Nicely Done. I have been riding for 12 years and teaching for 5. You have a great seat and really move with the horse. Some friendly advice-no malice intended-try picking up your hands just a bit. We should be able to see your fluid motion through your wrists and elbows. But overall-I can't get over how solid your seat is. Well done!

  • you look really awesome for your first time. your horse is pretty

  • Wow! im not even that good at cantering yet and I'v ben doing it 2 months!

  • it doesn't look like the first time, you did well :)

  • @TheMattlover22 because it was her 1st time cantering THAT HORSE, not her 1st time cantering IN GENERAL! =p

  • Wow really good for your first time!

  • @Horsedreamer206 Horses first time**

  • @RissaLacey12 Ohhhhhh.... lol! Your horse was really good :)

  • ohhhh your horse is soo cute! Whats his name? Also youre an awesome canter... er. XD

  • you an excellent rider :)

everyone else lay off! im sure your not all perfect riders - so stop trying to pretend like you know everything about riding over youtube!

  • dont worry wat any1 says da first time is always the hardest ull get much better u a brilliant rider x:) i wasnt dat gud my first time x

  • dont worry wat any1 says da first time is always the hardest ull get much better u a brilliant rider x:)

  • how long have you been riding before you cantered you were amazing the first time on my horse i was bouncing every and still do have the habbit :P

  • wow! for your first time cantering that is amazing! on my first time i was bouncing all over the place and i also had someone running alongside me!! xx :D

  • your mare is very pretty and you both look so elegant! your the perfect size for her aswell, i have outgrown my horse toby (15.2 ) and iam looking for something in the region of 17 hands as i love big horses cause iam tall 5"11 , not trying to be rude but how tall are you cause you look quite tall aswell :)

  • I can hardly wait to b able to canter my horse. She is 3 and very green , I am working on the lunge with her and need to b able to canter her from the ground without a buck before I try it in the saddle. Nice vid

  • First time? You look like a pro out there! Awesome job, keep up the good work!

  • MusicMotives, I use to have the same problem until I figured out that I first needed to learn how to become one with the horse while just staying in a trot(sitting/slow/fast) then... Once you got that down you'll be able to move forward and will most likely have the balance you need to accomplish a canter. It takes practice, that's all. Good luck! ;)

  • @MusicMotives it's ok if they flap if ur just riding for fun but if u want to fix it use ur knees to grip u have to use a lot of yer leg muscles u have been rising bareback for 3 years on my horse, it's easy

  • erm i have a question to anyone who rides horses...how the heck do u keep your legs still in canter? D: ive really been struggling cause mine always flap about :( i just want an answer cause ive tryed all sorts of things help!

  • oh sorry ZooChick221

  • your reins were flipping and your heels have to be down=)

  • your reins were flipping and your heels have to be down=)

  • darn! u are so good! i cant even get my stubborn4 year old mare to do that! how did u do it?

  • i just recentley started cantering my appendix for his first few times and i know what you mean by floppy reins. the reins aren't jerking his mouth and yet you still have control. so all is good. the horse is just trying to figure out where to place his feet and get balanced. so his head is gonna be down and relaxed. not collected and perfect on his first try. she obviously has expierence with horses. she is a pretty good rider. :)

  • Um do you really have to pump back and forth

  • You are an amazing rider, but here's a tip: Keep your heels down, I tend to let mine lose all the time and I hurt myself pretty bad once. You are SO good :D

  • You've got your own horse before you even started the canter!!!? :O

  • @TheNamelsShiki

Quite recently I went through a time when I was really scared to canter. Even though I had done it a lot, I was always riding a pony I had fallen off like four times. I think you should do some work without stirrups because it can improve your balance... Hope this helps :)

  • @acer12345able Thanks, its been my dream ever since I started taking horse back riding lessons :)

  • YOUR REINS ARE SOOOO SHORT

  • @liv4animalz2liv YOU'RE SUCH A BEEEEEETCH get a life.

  • @liv4animalz2liv they are not short there is no contact

  • for a first canter.. it was a million times better than mine when i first started. i looked like napoleon dynamite.. if you ever see the very very very ending after all of the credits... well wow that was wayyy off topic.... so what im saying is.. your really good

  • @kristian0gallops that wasnt her first time ever. it was her first time on that one horse.

  • im still really scared to canter, i just need confidence i trust the horse i ride and all but everytime he speeds up to canter i just freak out and fall off, any tips?

  • @TheNameIsShiki Squeeze your legs very hard, like you should for the trot.

  • I wish to get a horse one day

  • may i use this clip ill give u crdit and sned u the link

  • i think you are very good at cantering, up till now i've only cantered like 10 times within 2 weeks. good job! your very good!!

  • Beautiful job, and beautiful horse! Wish I had one =(

  • You were great! I don't know why people keep saying what you did wrong. It was your first time! My first time, I cried! I was 8! You would cry too if the first time you cantered was on a bucking horse! I fell off, and it was a new horse, so he ran away. I don't know why, most horses will not run, but I guess he was just new. He bucked me off and ran the first time I cantered.

  • You looke pretty chilled. I was totally nervous my first time cantering. But I was riding a lazy horse so I don't know why I was so afraid when now I canter on feisty ponies. LOL <3

  • that was cantering

  • I know @McKenzie geeze

  • good job you did pretty good for your first time (isnt cantering and galloping so much fun!!)

  • he's lovely :)

  • Comment removed

  • @WarriorsLongShadow no it's not.

  • @WarriorsLongShadow Hahaha that just showed how mush you know about riding smart guy. lol.

  • GOOODDDD JOB!!! IM SO JEALOUS!

  • nice job!

  • pretty horse

  • Wow, you're pretty good! My horse is so fast and energetic that I am still learning to sit in the seat better! lol

  • Dont be offendedhes a gorgeous horse and you look really good on him but he looks really small for a 17hh horse more like 15hh to mee. Or yer just tall:) But you look amazing, keep riding!

  • Wow your really good for your first time! I just started yesterday, on my friends horse because I dont have a horse to practice on! lol

  • u look good on him

  • jeez zoochick221 i think xoToxicJumper was just saying her horse wasnt collected and was telling her how to... no need to be so mean

  • @horsiegal98 I wasnt talking about Toxicjumpers comment. There is a comment farther down where some1 is saying the girl in the video made was just saying its her first time cantering to make it seem like she a perfect lil angle and something about her being a cow.

Xhorseyfreak123X or something like that(its down farther). obviously no1 understood that that was who i was regarding my comment to and keep commenting on mine as if IM being a bitch.

  • u should keep ur heels a lil more dwn otherwis u wud not balance great but good riding keep it up nice horse by the wy

  • nice job

  • I love cantering :)

  • your reins weren't flipping because his head wasn't collected, his head wasn't collected because your reins were flipping. if you want your horse collected, pick up your reins so that you can feel his mouth, ride uphill and on your bum, lift your hands up and ride into your hands with your seat and leg.

  • @xoToxicJumper thanks but you dont know my horse. he didnt know what collection was at the time

  • that's how you teach them, hun.

  • @jumptobump

    riiiiiiggghhththt

    bitch

  • @jumptobump sorry but this statement is rubbish! every hrose can be ridden with contact on the reins. heck we have a horse that was broken in 2 months ago that is ridden with contact on the reins! you can have contact with the reins at any length the last thing you want is them flapping about!

  • @jumptobump just because your horse dosent mean collection, dosent mean you become lazy-you looped ur reins, and then pressed them on his neck.... thats honestly not going to help, on any horse

  • @jumptobump A horse has natural ability to learn, and not doing the aids that ToxicJumper said won't help him in any way :/

  • @jumptobump to have a horse collect you must have a steady contact on the reins and drive them into the contact. this cant be done with reins flapping around. if your reins are flapping around it means you dont have a contact on the horses mouth and you are sending the horse fuzzy messages. lovely seat and props for having the guts to canter on such a loose rein.

  • @xoToxicJumper

    Hey,

Thats a funny way to get you horse on the bit :D

I was told by a 2* Eventer, my aunt that the best way is to keep hold of his mouth firmly with your outside leg and rein. Then play with your inside leg and rein to encourage him to come onto the bit.

Just wondering who told you that was the way to do it, is it a a new way?, I'm going to try it though... lol :)

  • @Himolly12 Lol I am a dressage rider :) So I ride differently than an eventer would

  • lol

  • @xoToxicJumper WHo cares it was her first time.

  • @xoToxicJumper

yeah, and who says you have to be collected all the time, this was her first time cantering him so lay off

  • @Equestriangal11 geez! she meant no harm! just some friendly advice, and constructive critizism! my gawsh!

  • wow he has a beautiful canter and ur an amazing rider, keep it up :)

  • wer u holding onto the saddle ?? i love ur horse and u sit really well :)

  • At first I was like, no way that cant be her first time. Then I read the tital carefully. Ahaha wonderful EQ and wonderful horse:)

  • great job for you horses first time! i was woundering what does it feel like to canter in an english saddle? because i have cantered before but in a westurn. so what does it feel like? and was it fun or scary your first time in an english saddle?

  • oh i see...this wasn't ur first time to canter at all....just the first time to canter HIM

  • When u first learn 2 canter is it fun?????????cuz i was able 2 canter it put me in the hospital.

  • wow that was amazing for your first time cantering!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I NEED HELP when im at a canter i keep losing my outside sturrup( sp.?) iv asked about the length and my unstuctor says they're ok but they still dont feel righT-T should i try different sturrup leathers all together?
