You use heat coil because your concerned nocturnal snakes won't come out because of the light? That's why there are red and black globes on the market. I have a nocturnal snake and I use a uv and a red heat lamp the uv is on for 12 and off for 12. He has responded well to the day night cycle.
This is a perfect setup! This is exactly what I was looking for, my friend and I are going to buy two snakes and keep them in our apartment so this is great. Question: is the heat cable just as good as a heat lamp?
@OKana It's actually better, because it can heat the whole night, which with lamp might be difficult :D + some snakes that are shy won't move around when the lamp is on ;/.
@GRuBaZzZ Looks like particle board to me, be sure to keep it completely dry, if it gets wet (under the slick venier) the pressed sawdust will expand and fall apart.
@CBW0314 Nah, I don't sell it, because I don't have a perfect instructions for it + I don't need to make money on that :D. Look the video description for a link to our website with more details on how to build this shelf ;).
@GRuBaZzZ ok, instead of the cable, could i use a heat mat under the tank because i got a tool that will let me cut a slot in the wood used as the cage floor
can you message me the dimensions for everything, how you made the sliding doors like a step by step please? its really cool and I'm looking to build one myself.
@GRuBaZzZ awesome man, this is perfect. I wonder if could save some time by buying an old book shelf and converting it. Thanks for the Vid...you have inspired me hahah
@MegaSPEARCE Light is actually useless unless you have a window in the snake room, because they are rather shy animals and prefer darker enclosures (feel safer in there). As far as temps, it has a nice difference between cooler end and warmer end, which allows snake to pick which it prefers atm ;).
great idea for the heat cable but wont it over heat being under an air tight peice of glass? if this works then i will most likely build one like this!
Hey, this looks awesome. Great Job. I wanted to start building one similar to what you built. The heating coils that you showed in this video, Where did you get them? please reply thanks
@GRuBaZzZ Did you use real glass or plexi glass for the heat cable? Also did you use any kind of sealent to make the space between the glass for the heat cable air tight?
@AllAlaskan907 Yes I used real glass & I sealed it all around with silicone glue so if the snake takes a dump it doesn't get under the glass, because it would be pretty hard to clean ;p
@Supersnakes23 Hmm I have no idea how it's called in english, but you can get it in a hardware store like home depo etc. And they cut it there for size you want ;)
at the hardware store, and that cable is a heating cable for pets (you can buy those in your local pet store). It's pluggesd into a thermostat which controls its temp and turs it on and off to keep the same temp all the time!
Nie ma - weze maja tyle ile wpadnie przez okno, co w zupelnosci wystarcza ;). Na filmiku sie wydaje ciemno, bo kamera slabo lapie, a do tego filmujac zaslonilem okno ;p
