  • lovely.. very thorough explanation... now i understand how to make these tasty eggs i hear so much about! arigatou gozaimasta

  • keep it at 70 degree celcius for 15 mins?

  • @ravenslave Yes.

  • I just tried it and it worked perfectly! Thanks itasan! Basically you gotta maintain the water temperature to about 70 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes and then stop the cooking process by putting the eggs under cold water. Crack the egg and eat!

  • Thats the same kind of nozzle on my sink for washing out shirt printing screens :)

  • Does he say what size eggs these are? Is there a standard size in Japan? Also does he say how long to wait before swirling the eggs to center the yolk? Thanks.

  • Awesome video! Thanks so much

  • i've been wondering how they do these eggs forever! thanks

  • what are the other ingredients? mushrooms? what are the final dark shreds? :)

  • @walshamite those are shredded nori.

  • at 2:07 he says "you wanna be there"...

  • @chicchitammuottocifa lol i guess it sounds like that he says, "yowabi de...." yowabi means kind of.. low fire, or low heat

  • That food looks so good ~ :D

  • is this a chicken or duck egg?

  • i can't understand this D:

  • ITASAN ... i wanna learn and work with you!!..

  • pls sumbody tell me...when the temp reach 70 degres and hav to wait for 15 minutes, the stove is turned ON or turned OFF??..thx

  • @cahdjogdja in 1 sentence: cook the eggs at 70 degrees Celsius for 15 mins. Stove must be on to keep the temperature stable.

This is how they cook an egg at an onsen (hotspring). Yummy.

  • [Plastic] basket is not a "must", it makes it easier to lift the eggs out of the water (you can use other basket or whatever you prefer). And no, you won't get poison from it, geez. You worried too much.

  • @sobnoname its a must - cuz it allows you to spin the eggs bringing the yolks to the center.

  • I had a cool step dad from Holland...I remember Him making soft boiled eggs put on a really sweet breakfast cake....It Was Really Good!!! Anybody ever hear of that???Pappy..

  • Great video by itasan 18

  • Is it safe for us to eat egg boiled in plastic basket?

    I'm just curious.

  • i woder~ isn plastic toxic? ^u^

  • @enchovia eat it and see...hehe

  • ...then you dunno the answer too?

  • Good question...

  • @Akkakarn quite safe. water boils at 212 degress fahrenheit , that water was at 158 degrees fahrenheit (70 celsius), so the water never actually boiled.

  • @Akkakarn surely shell will protect you, also, the plastic used for foods is suitably labelled as food-safe

  • what is the black stuff that tops the rice? it is stewed mushrooms? may I have a recipe for that? Its looks really good. Thx!

  • It's marinated skipjack tuna. He did not explain how it was marinated in the video but most likely soy sauce and sake.

  • I want this!

  • 10/10

  • 温泉たまごって、こうやって作るんですね。勉強になりました。ありがとうございました~!!

  • おいしそう~~

  • Actually, there's another way of doing it.

Pour hot boiling water on one egg in a container, and leave it for 5-8 mins.

Of course, Itasan's way will get you quality controlled Onzen eggs.

  • japan is Celsius only.

    70℃~66℃ Heating ok?

  • @Sirmau Just for your information, United States is the only country that officially uses Fahrenheit.

  • Comment removed

  • @Sirmau Fahrenheit remains the official scale of the United States and Belize and is retained as a secondary scale in Canada. (Wikipedia) Every other country uses Celsius.

  • I've always wanted to know how onsen tamago is made. Thanks for the video!

  • very good! Compliments.

  • This is simple and good food!

  • A+++

  • 最高
