Great video. However, this long approach is not typical of what was desired in the era. Everything you have explained here is perfect. It would be nice to see a video done showing "The Groove". Meaning that the dirty (flaps, hook, wheels) downwind leg at 500' passes the crows nest then a nice 180 degree descending turn onto the deck as done by Naval aviators.
