  • I was there! Thanks for sharing this. I thought what a great band they were when they opened at Red Rocks for Big Head Todd & the Monsters. I'm glad to see how far they have gone.

  • I fell in love with this intire band especialy Grace what stone cold fox,i would love the chance to "NO HOW FOREVER FEEL'S' she is all what merical from God she is

  • Anyone know what she's doing for the rest of my life? Seriously. I mean it. Anyone?

  • Yes sir!

  • I won't be complete until I see Grace Potter & the Nocturnals live

  • @Cbbyosoy, it's worth whatever trip you have to make. Fell in love with them live, will go see them every chance I get. The whole band are talented musicians; Grace is...there are no words to describe her amazing talent. They put on the best show.

  • I just noticed Grace Potter looks like Lucy Lawless in Xena

  • Like how the drummer's standing while playing, reminds me of Mike Portnoy

  • Makeover my ass. I never heard a damned thing about male rock n rollers wearing all that shit they wear to make them more appealing to the masses. Bowie and Jagger had numerous "makeovers", but it didn't do shit to change their style of rockin. Grace is a dreamy chick for sure...but she has serious talent. Rock and Roll "credibilty" is not defined by sex appeal. All you naysayers need to give the girl her props and get your collective heads out of your asses.

  • ...all chill about the 'commercial change'... Grace has been treading the boards long enough to know what's what. At the end of the day, talent prevails and she has that in bucketloads. They've all done it in their unique way.... The Beatles, Queen, New Kids on the Block.... she'll be fine. And in my dreams be mine.... sigh....

  • When I think about joyfulness in the future it's going to include a picture of Grace Potter jumping up and down while she's playing Stop The Bus.

  • a cool chick that rocks

  • Red Rocks - One of the greatest places to see a concert

  • She is so pure 70's rock that it sends chills...

  • get down or go down?either way would be great.

  • Imagine she is your girl!!!!

Do you guys know who is the lucky b****tard lol

  • I seen her live about two months ago and I promise you that makeover didn't change a thing about how rock n roll she is! She puts on the same show she always has. One of the best ever live shows Ive seen. The band had a great time together and brought the house down! If she doesnt define rock n roll (even now), then I dont know what does. Spend 20 bucks, go see her, and you'll forget the whole makeover aint rock n roll thing.

  • i'm just thinking that those dudes in the band haven't slept next to grace...

  • its either you bite your lip or drop your jaw on that guitar solo

  • 2:01-2:03.......*sigh*.......over an above my love for grace, GPN in this context was awesome....a "jam" band for sure.......pure raw talent, jeans and t-shirt.......a little concerned about a possible sell-out nowadays (in regards to the wardrobe anyways)........still love them though, GPN RULE!!!

  • What a rockin tune. I love everything I've heard from this band. When this tune starts to "jam" . My God, juices flow.

  • is she a millionaire?

  • @okrabay does that even matter .. wtf

  • grace is great but she needs a backing band with some real soul. drums = boring. rest of the band are legends in their own minds without putting forth much substance on stage

  • @PhunkYouInTheEye grace is the soul of the band..

  • @PhunkYouInTheEye

you must be listening to something else. Steve Gadd, Mic Fleetwood, Levon Helm and Matt Burr have an understanding that most drummers only wish they could have. Myself included, I have to work to find the groove. the best advice I have ever gotten as a drummer is not to over play the kit. And when you have a singer like Grace Potter or Stevie Nicks, to much is a sign of a bad drummer not a great one. Matt is dead on for this band....

  • epic.

  • sounds like neil young as far as the music goes

  • I love it any way they want to dish it up - yum!

  • GPN rock so hard live! Make sure you check them out. They are on tour right now. Hit up gracepotter . com for where they are playing near you. You DO NOT want to miss this band live. They are killer!!

  • The fact that Grace looks BANGING hot in the Tina turner dresses, go crawl back under the rock that holds up your car! They are playing it all perfectly! And defiantly go see them if they come to your town. The show is a do not miss !

  • Okay, lots of kill in happening in this thread. The change is fine. Nobody can be a jammy hippie all their lives! These guys kill it, period. If you don't like the 70s schtick of the band now, and r

  • Love them!! Mixture of Rock yet she has a soulful jazz voice!

    Unique sound!

  • I hear a little bit of the Pretenders, stylistically. She's real good.

  • Ever heard of "Bob Marley & The Wailers"??? ... Well, This is "Grace Potter & The Nocturnals" .... See the similarity ...

  • I can see where this is going. I saw it with Big Brother and the Holding Company and again with The New Bohemians. The band, other than Grace, needs work or replacement. Check out the Jammy version of "Cortez the Killer" to see her come alive - with much more interesting musicians.

  • before they went glam they were peerless

  • I like their raw sound and catchy melodies. She has a lovely voice as well. Relaxing, I could listen to this all day.

  • I've been nuts for this band for a looong time...and still am. My fear is Grace getting pigeonholed into some glam figure. She was hotter than hell when she didn't get all gussied up!!!!

  • @FXMAN66 Seriously. I'm just nonplussed with the direction they're taking lately. She's got the gift - and all that mainstream shit hides. We don't know who's behind the soundboard anymore. Freakin' A.

  • I already knew I was in love with Grace, but The Nocturnals are freakin awesome!

  • Opening for Big head Todd huh?? I guess I don't know enough about Big head Todd

  • JOPLIN MUST B SMILIN'

  • Yeah, I could waffle on about her being a great singer, a great performer, a great artiste....who am i Kidding ?

It's her goddam sexiness that's seducing me.

  • WACKALA!

  • wow just wow! like GP n Nocturnals - had no idea the have been around for so long!

  • nice work

  • do hate on her new stuff people change plus i think shes elavated

  • Yep dig this older stuff better than the new stuff .... she could really rock it out!

  • have to agree that this should be their direction but alas hollywood records is interceding in the truth inexorably presented here: they can actually rock hard but they're being sterilized for proper media consumption, and unless they wake up to this fact quickly they''ll be mediocre history...put it this way, this isn't retro, it's rock, the new fluffy shlock is not. you choose which is better....

  • like her older stuff better than the new overly produced stuff -- can't believe the make over they did on her. Go back to the raw real Rock n Roll girl and band!

  • @forestgroveful Any band or artist worth their salt is going to evolve. This is a pretty old vid. I saw her last month and she still has the same power to kick your ass while on stage. Few women in rock can command attention like she can.

  • @forestgroveful saw them last night. It was my first time, never heard of them before then. They ROCKED fuckin hard, trust me! Think, Keith Moon, Joe Strummer, Dr. Feelgood, Otis Redding, Blondie all rolled into one fucking explosive band.

  • i TOTALLY agree... i saw them a few weeks ago. They are fucking epic im mildly obsessed

  • this may be a stupid question or maybe not. where can i get a hold of this chicks album...?

  • @rustyzipperband They have 4. You can get their latest album which is one of the top selling MP3 albums on iTunes right now for $2.99 on Amazon.com. No idea why it's so cheap. It's fucking great.

  • @masoudghotbi57 That being said, she's still 1000 times better than any of the other crap out there that people try to call music today....glad to hear that rock and blues still have a place in my generation. I think she's great...and what rock musician do you know of who isn't looking for fame, and fortune? If you have the skills, why not get paid for them???

  • @masoudghotbi57 YUP THATS SO TRUP BRO SO TRUE

  • Saw them in San Diego Dec 11th? Pretty sure that was the date at House of Blues.

    Frickin awesome! Energy, pure energy!

  • This is Great

  • Been in and around the music business for 35 years now and still haven't seen a show or video that touches this. She throws her heart and soul into it like few I've ever seen. Keep rockin girl, you're making the good people of VT real proud!

  • All I got to say is it is my life goal to date Grace Potter within the next 10 yrs, worst scenrio maybe get to jam with her :)

Got to meet her at Mtn. Jam she is as cool as she is down to earth. She brings it hard live too!!! saw her twice and both shows rocked!!!!

  • @JoeFrewMusic

HEY, good to have a goal, Joe.. afraid

you will need ta get in line behind about

8 zillion other guys- she is certainly the

MOSt adorable singer to come along in

quite a spell, Plus she is very talented

to boot! Not a bad combo..

  • i have to watch this video every day, right along with her other video's, this lady has so much passion in her music.

  • Wait til you see them live. They're quite a band.

  • I like him. He's atypical for sure. But I think he fits perfectly with Grace Potter's style!

  • i does t like this guitarist ..anybody else ?

  • Not sure what you're trying to say with the " I does t like" thing but Tournet rules. He makes this band go. he leaves, it's over.

  • agreed--I saw them live and thought that why they were all really cool and talented people, Tournet stood out to me as the band's heart and soul behind Grace.

  • how sexy is grace potter.... i'd love to get down with a girl lke that

  • @ACLNOLES I actually like her old look more than the blonde "Hollywood-ish" thang's she's got going on now. Not that she ain't some of the best eye candy around now too BUT I personally dig this look for rock'n roll chix more.

  • @PappyCaligula Before the makeover, she looked more authentic and had more credibility as a rock and roll artist. You can see here that she looked more comfortable and moved around more on stage. Now she looks like Heidi Klum holding a Flying V (and wearing ridiculously high heels). They gave her an "American Idol"-style makeover to turn her into some sexpot. I'm sure that's more appealing to the masses, but it's not very rock and roll.

  • @ACLNOLES She is indeed sexy beyond belief. Her voice gets me every time.

  • Enjoy while you can. You never know when some god wanna be takes it off the net?

  • use the you tube down loader and save your favorites.

  • I agree fuckin amazing

  • Comment removed

  • AAAHHHHH FKN AMAZING!!!!

  • Nice Voice and energy Grace and the band!!! regards from Argentina South America!!!

  • Clicked on myspace, only found the stowkegan live album...and that ver. doesn't quite compare to the energy of this ver.

I've ripped the audio from this video a long time ago...but I know that a HQ ver. will just rip the roof off of my house.

  • I ended up burning that entire Skowhegan show. It was very good. This Red Rocks show was my first taste of GPN on Youtube a few years back.

  • hairless hippie says: good girl

  • GRACE IS VERY GOOD FISH :)

  • THIS GITARIST COPY JOHN FRUSCIANTE :)

  • He just looks like FRUSCIANTE. They both have it going on. Grace is lucky to have him part of the team.

  • girl has the old school blood

  • it's on myspace music. Click on the album with the frog on it and there it is...all live and juicy. The whole album is live

  • The things I would do to get my hands on a decent ver. of this video...

  • hippies

  • hippies that freakin ROCK

  • @glowingsecrets - "hippies" started rock way back in the 60's - long before any of the hair metal or anything else - this band continues that sound in the present time - a pleasure considering all the crap out there now that is being called music -

  • I'am in love, not only with the music, but with Grace. What a great talent she is!

  • this is a pinnacle for vermont at rr, the solo is absolutely the best of that year, grace is visionary, they became famous here, believe it

  • Just saw them live in Santa Fe... I you have the chance, you MUST see them live. They are so much fun and sound so tight live.

  • they are awesome and she is hot

  • The sheer, unadulterated JOY in the music that Gracie emits here gets me a little choked up every time I watch this clip. Damn.

  • The music has a crosby , stills, nash, and young sound to it . She has an amazing voice, they really are good.

  • Amazing.

  • Yea very Neil Young sound to it. I had no idea Grace + the Nocturnals had played Red Rocks!!

  • the best damn thing

  • i just love this sooooooooooo much!! - it's got EVERYTHING !!

  • it just as if we go back in time. Very melodic and sounds like songs of the seventies and eighties.

  • Not felt this good since i stumbled on Lucinda Williams - thank the Lord for Bank Holiday Monday's and YouTube.

  • there's lineage happening here folks, w/the solo that starts at 3:09 and ends catapulting grace up in the air at 4:04, simply and unequivocably the absolute best minute i've spent in years, and these guys are not rock stars but play way better than rock stars, with grace under pressure...

  • for some reason this song seems really familiar

  • omg i agree but i dont know how i know it

  • this song uses in the refrain the same (kind of) chords as for example the song "Baby I love your way".

  • if you like this, then go look at the masterwork it's based on, "down by the river" by Neil Young. Now that is a song !

  • Red lights spill onto the stage at Red Rocks, red jeans on the redhead as the sun sinks like a red hot welders spark.

Hollow body guitar rings solidly as the bass and drum counter punch, Ali like circles around the sirens song. Tomorrow I will go gladly to the rocks and crash there, marooned until I buy my own copy.

Good music isn't a corporate creation, it exists for itself. And we exist to listen.

  • Wow, I like this video the best, with a lot of close secconds, after a year on YouTube! ...and under it is your responce, the best responce I've seen on YouTube....this is awesome! Greaat music and great writting!

  • Heard a mention of the Nocturnals as the backing sound on a network show. Of course I was paying no attention what so ever to the show, and my ears perked up when I heard that name. Seems like they are moving up the ladder nicely. Drop a note if you know what show that was.

    Peace,

    The Rev.

  • how old? i'm guessing @ 20

  • The writing and singing of 24-year-old phenomenon Grace Potter.

  • First time for me...awesome ... another great find on YouTube .. !

  • Awesome vid, thanks. I love how they rock out, she's quite the performer. I saw them in Philadelphia in December... it was amazing, they played almost all the songs from both albums!

Loved this version of "Stop the Bus", better than the album one IMO. The second verse here is not in the album version, nor is the second half of the third verse.

  • For those curious the parts here that were not in the album version are - "can you believe it's been so long once in a while i count the days found out just where i belong is right next to you on the wide open range" "you are the rock on the riverbed, growing smoother every day you are the voice inside my head I just cannot stay away" Rock on, Grace and Nocturnals! ~Sara
  • And they are now the voice inside MY head ... I Just Can't stay away!

  • I'm an instant fan after seeing Cortez the Killer with Satriani! Awesome!

  • haha exact same with me

  • me too

  • and after this, me3

  • This clip actually brought tears to my eyes, strangely enough -- the song is really simple, but beautiful at the same time (love that chorus); and the pure boundless joy in the band's delivery (look at that grin on Gracie's face!) is totally infectious.

  • I saw them a couple of weeks ago opening for Gov't Mule at the Millenium Center in Winston-Salem. They are really, really good live. They have a stage presence that really grabs you. The combination of the atomosphere and the music and the lights put me in an almost transe-like state. Anyway, I thought they were better than Gov't Mule, but thats just me. They do great music, and I wish I could have stayed to talk to them and get an autograph.

  • damn they were just in winston!?! I live there. i just saw hwe at warren haynes xmas jam in asheville. I'm a g.love fan myself and fell in love with them after the first song they played. damn.

  • Saw her last night in Boise. She and the band understand what rock and roll is. A very dynamic performer.I'm pretty sure I'm in love.

  • These guys are awesome. I saw them open for Gov't Mule at the Fillmore, and they blew me away. Grace is hot. Next Janis Joplin, anyone?

  • That was the first person I thought of when I heard her voice. Love the music.

  • Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are an amazing act live. Grace has a nuclear stage presence. Don't miss it.

  • i just saw them this past saturday and they are phenomenal live. grace has a stage presence that grabs you from the start.

  • Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are awesome you defiantly need to see them if you haven't!

  • No sabía que lara bernasconi tenía una banda, ja.

    Suenan bien

  • i just saw them in jersey. Scott, the guitarist, is freaking out of control. So damn good and such a great tone

  • Way to go Grace, a Vt boy in Tucumcari NM, real proud DFD

  • @DanforddanMusicshop TUCUMCARI TONIGHT!!!!! Entire town's fiscal budget is spent on billboards! LOL

  • NICE

  • This band is awesome and Grace rocks!

They're performing on World Cafe on August 24. It broadcasts to like 200 stations in the US and then it gets archived online. Check out the NPR site to find a schedule or the archive.

  • See them now before all their shows are selling out.

  • Going to see her band with Gov't Mule Oct. 17 in Winston-Salem, NC!!!

  • Just saw the same show on Sunday night. It was absolutely incredible. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are no joke.

  • Check out grace potter cover of cortez the killer with joe satriani on YT. Awesome performance. search "Grace Potter and Joe Satriani cover Cortez the Killer"

  • Great performance!

  • The difference between this band and DMB is this band is good.

  • definately my favorite band right now. I just heard them for the first time about 3 weeks ago. What a breath of fresh air.

  • HeyNow Finally Janus and Grace get a (musical)makeover!

  • i hope grace doesn't sell out like that RHGDamaso

  • grace potter & the nocturnals are one of the top bands around right now. this performance proves it.

  • wish i was there...this is the best ive heard from grace

    rock out girl

  • In 10 years this band will be where DMB is today

  • @RHGDamaso Do you still feel this way seeing how glam is replacing the jam?

  • @FXMAN66 Absolutely not. I think they're setting themselves up for 15 minutes rather than 15 years.

I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the new record and the change in artistic and stylistic direction. I think what hurts most is it's clearly something that's coming unnaturally - it's a cognizant shift. They're forcing this new look and act. I still love them and cautiously hope it's all temporary, but I doubt it. It hurts to watch this video because the band in this video is gone.

  • @RHGDamaso Well said!

  • @RHGDamaso I agree entirely. I love Grace, but girl. Stay real. You got the chops.

  • @RHGDamaso

I've just discovered this band myself, and after getting more familiar with them, I have to say that you are probably correct.

  • @RHGDamaso agreed. There past music touches the sole, much like the music of the 60's and 70's. the music on their new cd is less than impressive. The old Grace Potter needs to return!

  • grace rocks. Thanks

  • I was at this show standing on the side of the stage. First of all if you ever see a band you like that will be performing at Red Rocks - GO! It is a one of a kind experience. Second, Grace Potter and the Noc's kick butt live! Third (and most important) I love Grace!!!
