The Big Bang wasn't an explosion. It was the instantaneous expansion of an infinitely small and infinitely massive object. Also, planets are round because they rotate. Things that rotate naturally turn into balls over time. It's called physics.

The Big Bang wasn't an explosion. It was the instantaneous expansion of an infinitely small and infinitely massive object. Also, planets are round because they rotate. Things that rotate naturally turn into balls over time. It's called physics.

If your sole reason for accepting a God is to gain access into some paradise (clouds and pearly gates I assume), I doubt that an all-knowing God would grant you access to this paradise. What you're suggesting is to blindly believe rather than look at the evidence laid out before you. I understand the hope for more after life but I suggest investigating it yourself.

maybe you should do more research before you make unqualified conclusions such as these. recently scientists have recreated a very small scale of the bing bang in a lab. not to be contradictory, but since we're speaking in terms of logic here: we know that consciousness is 100% based and dependent on the physical structure of the brain. In short, we know that consciousness cannot exist before the material world did and thus a conscious being could not have created the material world.

who says believing in evolution makes you an atheist? Why can't god create everything through evolution? He can do whatever he wants including let things change, grow and evolve. But to answer that question, Gravity is evenly equal on all sides, like you know the planets core, so regardless of the shape of the planet, if it is large enough to have an atmostphere that atmosphere will always be round. planets need to be greater than a certain mass make them round, that is why asteriods do not become rounded. A sphere is the most stable state, and the planet will tend towards this by various different mechanisms over time.

In some scientific circles it is beleived that the universe is created and destroyed in a continuos cycle.
The Big Bang, followed by the Big crunch (when the universe collapses into a black hole) followed by the Big Bang (possibly thrown out at he 'other end' of the black hole, if there is one,.)
This, interestingly corrosponds with many religions that believe the universe is in a continuous cycle of birth,life,death and rebirth, I just thought it was an interesting mention.

By the way, I believe the accepted argument for why planets are round is because of the massive gravity at the center of them - which is why smaller objects, like comets or even smaller planets, don't appear as spherical.
Also, I wonder how anyone living on a planet with mountains on it can possibly think that planets are perfectly round?

@kbawesome101 I'm going to regret this. Everything that has mass has gravity. Gravity does travel through space. It's what holds the planets in orbit around the sun, the Moon in orbit around the Earth, even the sun in orbit around the galactic center. Everything on Earth is attracted to, say, the Sun and Moon as well, look to the tides, but we're much closer to the Earth so its gravity dominates.
