The arrest was not in alignment with MA law for Disorderly conduct and the charges were dropped - what was to be gained from the arrest after Gates proved he lived there- even if Gates was rude to Crowley. Crowley showed no respect by coming into his home univited, per Gates while Gates agreed to retrieve his ID. So no ones apologizing, including Crowley.
Were they right? Was the behavior of the two right - No but Gates and Crowley are the ones needing to exchange apologies and Obama already retracted his statment which he can't apologize fully for because the fact of the matter is- the arrest was dropped, apparently didn't meet MA law of what's considererd disorderly conduct - so there it was a bad choice on crowley and even worse if the Police get sued 4 his decision -(This is mutually exclusive of Gates verbal behavior in context of law).
That was my last comment on this. I won't stoop down any further to you people can't seperate race-competition from Law of Massachusettes and the overall effectiveness of Crowley as a decision-maker with the interests of not wasting tax-dollars and incurring a law-suit.
What a complete and total fucking waste of resources. Hey lets take a situation and blow it way out of proportion so it gets national attention. What just because the so called "victim" Professor Gates is buddies with the president, they think it's worth of news coverage? Give me a break, people get arrested everyday. Shit like this is the reason we are in the shape we're in. How about the "officials" start focusing on what matters. Nobody gives a shit about this.
Furthermore - besides being chided for calling an action stupid - (both Gates and Crowley made bad choices) The arrest itself - was a waste of manpower, payroll & time, paperwork of probably a dozen or more cop manpower involved on some level all b/c Crowley wanted to prove a point based on ego. (To say this on Crowley has nothing to do with "One-upping the White community" in the tacit race competition that has ensued due to this incident.)
So in all honesty - detaching from being defensive for a moment in Obama's critcism - he could have refrained from commenting or softened his comments on the actions of Crowley originally but all in all he arrest proved to be stupid, a waste of time and tax-dollars and opened the Cambridge Police up to a possible law suit which put the tax-payers -AGAIN in jeopardy. So when u make decisions that the bottom falls out of when u should KNOW the law - it's not far-fetched that it was stupid.
