Another problem these days is that the owners/caretakers/ knobs-who-just-got-this-stuff-given-to-them think it's all gold-plated. They want a fortune for the rotten hulks. There are no deals left.
@1212sman Yea I know right, I was looking to start a cheap car, nothing picky. But anything is passing as a classic now on local listings. And none of them are even remotely reasonably priced. So I bought a cheap dodge neon :/. Good on gas and fun to drive tho! haha.
the problem is these cars arnt extinct someone dies and the car is laid there to rot now i can tell you what is extinct almost to the point of no return is the 87 oldsmobile cutlass ciera SL 3.8L its very hard to find parts for check my page some time the car is up for sale now a guy who was prior owner before i brought it from my boss is trying to buy it off me for 1k
Problem with most barn finds is you get one of 2 lines, "I'm gonna fix it up some day." OR "That was great granddad's car so were attached to it.". Well... Your not going to fix it up, it's going to rot away and end up at the crusher. AND Great granddads dead so he won't be needing it right away.
i have a 36 chevy coupe tht has been in the family since the 70's and im going to start restoring it in the summer. were puttin in a chevy 350 v8, highrise intake holley 1150 carb, muncie m-22 4 speed, mustang II front end etc. should be fun ha
I,m in northern Ontario Canada. I had a 35 Dodge coupe at one time.....I also had a 40 Olds coupe and my 57 Chevy at the same time. Only have the 57 and a 56 Dodge now.
I am in a posh boston suburb....I must have a bit of "good ol boy" in me....I chew tobacco and would love a back yard FULL of old vintage American iron like this!!!!!!
When a car is newmand bought, after years of use,and it just becomes non-vauable,so thw owners end up parking them up and leave them there, they soon become forgotton about :(,i know this and im only ten...
i know, but there is some cars that loose value and re-gain it again, take oud 26' ford model t for example,it new cost abot $400-$600new.and about 20 years later it was worth probaly less than $40-$50.and now 81 years later,we bought the car in september 07'.and it cost £7500 for it.
$500-$40-$7500,see,the price can change and when the car is about twenty years old,and worth 40 dollars, its worth nothing to people and left to rot :( ,but out car had a better time that than in this 81 years.
not many over here in ireland either :(,but my dad runs an small old company and i go with him somethimes with my camera and i take photos of old stuff, like today i got 2 1920's steam rollers and a trashed 4-door sierra
i didnt think there was any places like this atall in the whole of the UK. 1920s steam rollers and a sierra? how the hell did you get them and what do you do with them?
noo,the sierra is a crashed shell lieing down at the glass works, ust a shell,no bodywork.
the 2 steam rollers are parked up in ballashannon in the back of a garden, they are to ex-Mc cafferty quarry steam rollers, probaly been parked up for 15-20 years, the roof is lieing on top of the body and the other one's roof's wood has rotted away with age.
i do not own these,i just photograph them.i got up near a private scrapyard today,it was like landrover heaven.and thats all :(
so you dont actually own any old motors? how come you just take photos of them? i doubt there are many steam rollers sitting in many peoples gardens anyway!!!
