im guessing you got that impression because that's what rou uses, if you gonna buy something this expensive you should really look into it more, the short answer is no. But if you wan't to do live gigs with a microkorg or any midi capable synth an emx will make things a hell of alot easier. All an emx does is play it for you, which is why rou uses it, so he bounce around on stage, and press the right buttons when he needs to
:/ i got my microkorg a few days ago nd like im rely new to playin keys but i can make some ok stuff on it :D the thing is with the emx it will play extra bits at the same time as you :) you can use it on its own in a band and it will sound decent but on ur own it will only be half decent like koz it might not sound big enough :D (i might be wrong someone correct me if i am )
Sluggy I would suggest going for a higher graded synth. Then again it depends on ur usage. If your after big lush analogue pads, leads, basses i.e then u will want to aim for the monophonic analogue ones, else u can pretty much turn to any medicore -> advanced digital, analogue emulated synth. I see ur post is 11 months old but figured I'd drop a comment anyhow.
@ilovejamescobblol tbh I have only owned a virus classic myself but I have tried out various hw elsewhere. I can honestly say that my favorite ones unordered list: Virus TI, Alesis Andromeda, Moog Voyager, Minimoog, Korg Prophecy and some nords. Tbh I havent stayed up2date with hardware for a year or so because I use mostly software plugins myself as they are much cheaper and faster to tweak. In the future I will buy some really phat analogue synths for pads/basses/leads tho!
wat amp u using ya?

mikefinnmyrers 2 years ago
use difrent vsts, if you want i can send you a list of vsts i have for this kinda sound x
alexxj220 2 years ago
the stand your ground bit is wrong,
you need a13 with the osc1 on di9 and that on number 10
then go onto the mixer settingas and turn down osc2
fiddle around with filters, mods, patches and some eq (and with help of 200bpm arpeggiatior) you get the exact sound
shall i just post a video?

Are you only using the microkorg here? I'm thinking of getting one, but I don't know whether I'd need an EMX-1 to make anything decent sounding
sluggy021090 3 years ago
The microkorgs useful I guess. I'll only be using mine to enter data into my emx once I get it. Wrong notes in the intro but otherwise pretty good.

Could you please send me the notes for the chord arpeggiator progressions, or pictures of the shapes to play? that would be most helpful.

when i play it(right) on mine, the sound sounds so much beter than on this shity recording, wy does it sound so bad?
plus try turning edit number 2 knob to arpeg a on patch 13
then push patch 2 and 7 down to edit the arp, and dont play the high c sharp
there you go! much better
