To clear up questions: You cam watch the basic plots of Yakuza 1 and 2 in the game. It's useful.

Also, this game has subtitles.

Lastly, DEFINATELY wirth buying. But you may be confused during the storyline thinking 'this isn't open world, I keep getting objectives' but the unobjectivated gameplay doesn't open until after you've completed the story.

You need to learn your history, Yajuza have been around a lot longer then that, and besides hte Mafia is broken down into smaller feuding "families" with no loyalties, Yakuza how ever have been able to run governments, control businesses and eastern trade

Also should be noted that Yakuza have been around since mid Edo Period Japan which would be around 1680 or so. Maifa started in 1860's didn't do very much till around 1910's
