IMO JS usability really depends on who is using it for what purpose. DS is a game console and is used for entertainment, and in this regard, it is entertaining if music is your thing and loves composing songs, or jamming with friends informally, hence its name, jam sessions. This is a fun and unique alternative for hobbyist as myself.

um...all you need are basic ones to get started =\ which don't cost much. i've been playing for a good 2yrs so i'm not awesome but at least i'm capable.

Ubisoft is releasing this software for the Nintendo DS on the 11th of September, 2007. It's called "Jam Sessions", check it out, it's pretty cool.

Useful at least as a composition helper/tool.
