Jason and David were in this event. You can see another Kiwi, Dion Lane, in the background of the closest stand. With this win, I became only the third American in 50 years to win the event. One of the other two was my father.
With luck and good training, I might be able to pull it off again someday. But it's hard with the likes of the folk you've mentioned.
Vey cool sport. Do the Aussies and Kiwis dominate or do the American or Euro choppers rule the wood heap? If that was you chopping you absolutely nailed that block and your supporters were excited too. Well Done!
Thanks for the kind words. My daughters and wife are my biggest supporters.
Two Kiwis have dominated the bigger events the past 12 to 15 years, but I've crept in amongst them as have a few others. Kind of hard to be with and best them all the time. I'm an attorney/advocate/barrister by trade, so this is my sport/hobby that keeps me young and vigorous. I truly love to train more than I enjoy competing, but that's another story.
It's an International Sport. We had 19 countries represented at the Stihl Timbersports World Championships in Breinz Switzerland a few weeks ago. The best of the best culminate for events in Australia and the United States. Europe's competitions are awesome, but, at this stage, only one is open to overseas competitors. But that will change with time.
Thanks so much. I love the sport. I've always said, that if you can trace your lineage back three to four generations, in an area where trees are prevalent, odds are one of your ancestors has used an axe or a crosscut saw to clear the land to make way for the evolution of America.

Thanks so much. I've placed 3rd and 3rd, the past two years. It's a hard go with the folk I'm going against.
