I thought u left YouTube, I've looked up your channel a few times trying to find new videos you've posted and form some reason YouTube would never show me your uploads but I finally found u ! lol, good vid though
Trying to learn manual mode, took 1 class. I have a nikon d7000, outside I don't have this problem, but inside I am having trouble getting my meter to zero. I keep raising my ISO to 4000 & higher, but still have trouble getting meter to zero. Also I understand that the higher the ISO, the more noise. Is there a special setting I should use on the SS and Aperture to get it to meter to zero; have tried numerous settings without any luck. Thanks.
hi, whats the best mode for a portrait shot when i want to focus on the eyes and have the subject in one third of the frame and then recompose for the rest of the shot? i believe it's something to do with the af modes etc, please advise
I just had a light bulb moment! LOL Great video! What would lens would you recommend for taking picture's of arrowheads? I was thinking about the 100mm.

@nate42nd Oh great because that is the lens I wanted to buy. My husband wants me to take pictures of his arrowheads (he makes them) but the kit lens is just not cutting it. I will be taking close up shots of groups of arrowheads. I would love to see the results you got!
I love your videos thanks for taking the time to make them. I am a beginner even though I've been using my camera for 2 years now. Never on Manual. I just bought the EF 100 Macro and this is how I found your first video. Thanks for helping me! I will now take the time to do what you are suggesting! I also just bought the EF 70-200mm L lens. Is this overlap in some way? [450D]
@ejackson21st No it's not overlap. They are two different kinds of lenses. Great choices. They are choices I wouljd make. What 70-200 did you get. You don't need to answer btu there are 4 from Canon 5 or 6 if you count the new MKii. Try M out and I wish you all the best.
After seeing your video,I took my camera(canon eos 1000d + tamron 90 mm Macro) and I changed focus length,ISO etc but I couldn't be able to have to same focus on two items with different position as in min 2.18 in your video :(
@PaquiiGleamingPhotos Macro lenses have a shorter depth of focus. It would be harder with a macro lens. I was using a 17-55 zoomed in to about 40mm. If you use a different lens you will see the same results. Watch the shutter speed.....you might need a tripod or to stabilize the camera. Let me know if I can help and join my flickr group. We are going to have some fun over there!
@nevergive7 Good points man. The "creative auto" in the newer Canons also works pretty good for this stuff. I just tried it out for the 1st time yesterday.
This video is aimed at new photographers who might be sat in the "Comfort Zone" of Auto mode on there DSLR,so if a few new photographers watch this video and experiment with AV...TV...and full Manual mode then nate42nd has acheived what he set out to do when posting this video.. the newer DSLR`s set in Auto mode can produce some stunning images for new shooters but hopefully this video will encourage some people to turn the dial from auto mode and experiment!!!
@carperpaul Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to do. I could have done a better job as always, but I plan to have more of this type of video. There are a lot of beginners out there who just need a "push" and they will be helped. There is a lot to understand. The shutter speed for one. The longer it's open, the more ambient light is let in. It gives a different look to images. I hope to cover stuff like that soon.
i hardly ever use my camera outside of manual mode, i just like the control i have when im in it and feel even "Aperture priority" and the other semi-manual modes slightly restricting
@xchlppprsx I use aperture priority most of the time but if I see I need M I am not afraid to switch. I get a lot of questions about why people can't change settings, or why they have so much noise while shooting inside. I would like to do some vids on why these things happen. There are a lot of people out there just starting out and need to now this stuff. All the best to you.
@nate42nd yea i know a few too many people with expensive DSLR's who just keep it on auto and it bothers me. my favorite is the soccer moms with expensive cameras and expensive lenses...and all they do is keep it on the dreaded green box, this is why i call it soccer mom mode haha. maybe what you should do is a video explaining all of the manual/semi manual modes so people can find what they are comfortable with

@atyl1972 I would use AV mode and "one shot" focusing to do that. Hope that helps.

@kingsjewels Oh yea, the 100mm macro would be great for arrowheads! If fact, I have one here somewhere I may try that. Thanks
