I think this type of insanity was perpetrated by the Great War, WW1, with 9 million soldiers killed in action and WW2 only 20 years later, all of europe was already suffering from PTS in which war was a way of life. The Versile treaty garranteed more War and was Hitlers document of power. I think this type of insanity was perpetrated by the Great War, WW1, with 9 million soldiers killed in action and WW2 only 20 years later, all of europe was already suffering from PTS in which war was a way of life. The Versile treaty garranteed more War and was Hitlers document of power. I guess with life being so cheap it was really easier to die than to live, when people are forced to live in despair and poverty with no hope, war is a good way out.

BraunerEngel, I still beg to differ; I believe the speech probably stems from early 1943. This was when things had started to go badly wrong for Germany. I think by 1945, Germany was already well into "totaler Krieg".
It's so sad really: Germany didn't stand a chance with so much world opposition - a good thing for today's generation, since if Germany had defeated Russia (Hitler's real war aim), there would be a huge legacy of problems today arising from it. Paul
