  • I really love this, offcource Frank Sinatra was

and still is the voice of the century, but all the respect for Robbie as well.

  • When people try to compare the voice of Rob & Frank Sinatra one-way, they are showing their narrow mindedness. When they insult Rob for merely tipping his hat to one of his great inspirations, they are ignorant. The voices are technically very similar, it then comes down to which one appeals to you the most. Singers know what they like and especially know what they are listening to, non-singers have not got a clue and it shows with the ignorance. I wish more artists would show respect like that.

  • massive fan of Robbie and Frank, gives me shivers when Frank kicks in ha

  • Robbie is good but hey, frank is the BEST

  • Both amazing,- full stop.

  • Good try Robbie, now step aside and listen to how it should be sang by Frank...you don't have the ball son to sing a song like that.

  • Why all the comparisons? Frank Sinatra's voice was one in a billion. Hardly anyone will disagree. Look at Robbie, he'll agree too. So why keep stating the obvious?

  • @SlashVe Agree

  • Robbie is not bad but Frank is better - les deux vont assez bien ensemble

  • Good on Robbie for the great song choice, and singing it with the emotion that this song deserves. But Wow!, this just serves as an example of how good Frank was, he sings his parts 1000 times better than Robbie.

  • robbie williams é um mito! isso é fato!

  • ele é o máximo!amo!!!

  • Who the hell could and gave negative votes on this performance? Jesus!!

  • He really connects to this song !! Go Robbie!!

  • Esta interpretación en compañía de la voz me párese extraordinaria.

  • It was really a very good year!

We hope for an even better!!!

    Happy new Year!

  • This proves how modest a man Robbie Williams is... There is an old Turkish saying, (One who neglects the past masters, fails in progress!) Bravo, Robbie!

  • if u want, skip here 2:33

i really love robbie, but when frank starts singing...

well, when frank starts singing, frank starts singing.

  • @guigooish If I wanted to do that I would look for a Frank Sinatra video

  • I'm sorry but Robbie and Harry Connick Jr. cannot, and i say again cannot out level Frankie "the voice" Sinatra......no offense Robbie/Harry...

  • Never been a big Robbie fan, but that was brilliant. I think he wasted his time doing some rubbish when he should have been doing stuff like this.

  • GOD DAMM YOU! YOU MAKE FRANK PROUD! We thank you Robbie!

  • just 766627 views?

  • they are both masters in their fields.. unique voices in the timeline of humanity. give god thanks that you have ears to listen to such amazing voices.

  • Frank is UP as always, Robbie is DOWN... It's not good to make your success based on other's glory!

  • najs one

  • This is an embaressment to Frank and his "friends"

  • Robbie Williams & Frank Sinatra good combination!

  • its not anti Robbie Williams to say that Sinatra was the superior singer.

I'll bet Robbie Williams would happily admit it.

  • very touching mr.williams

  • I am a very big fan of Robbie’s he is a good, even great, singer but I have to say it worries me that there is just no one out there today of the sheer class and of the Sinatra’s, Martins etc etc. The talent pool was just much bigger and deeper in those days and it’s unfair to compare.

  • Very stylish man, with a great tender voice. Let him live happily for ages and sing for us, as it Mr. Sinatra did.

  • 32 women who didn't hear anything from Frank or Robbie after a good night

  • Robbie is great but this song is just in the wrong key for him.. This song was written for Frank so obviously he is going to sing it better. I think he does a good job! Very emotional...

  • this song is similar to singing in the movie sweny tood ... WOW¡¡¡

    similar is not equal

  • I agree with you icequeen1962. As good, as gifted, as talented some of them are yet, *no* star of today could hold a candle to the greats. What is more, unlike the icons of yesterday, I will bet now that none will live in memory nearly as long as those of yesteryear. Yesterday, one had to have talent and real skills. One was born to it. Today, all you need is a good manager and anyone can make it. Is this a good or bad thing? That is for each of us to decide.

  • I don't like the wide vowels but I guess that is the difference in dialect. It "waaaaas" a very good year vs. US "whaws". "Ahp" vs "uhp"

  • I've listened to Robbie sing Mr. Bojangles, and if I only have to listen, I'll take that over Sammy. I've heard Robbie's Mack the Knife, and that's a toss-up against Deano.

But you'll notice that Robbie was never stupid enough to try to sing My Way. He knew who the master was. And if you heard this performance, then so did you.

  • @po8crg

He did... But this is a tribute to Frank Sinatra, I guess Robbie Williams knows exactly that his voice can't be compared to Sinatra's voice... Although he is a great singer!

  • @po8crg Sadly, Williams did try to sing "My Way" at this same concert. It's on YouTube. Besides smiling and grinning happily as he sings it, he decided to make it a singalong. A big difference between today's singers and Sinatra is that Sinatra was always singing, always on the road, and, at his peak, recording several albums a year. The idea of taking off for a few years off between albums would've seemed crazy "back then."

Did that make Sinatra a better performer? Probably.

  • Sinatra :) when you sing..man..no one can get close to you

  • brill

  • That is a gorgeous piece of music. Hats off to Robbie for paying tribute so well, and the strings in this song are soaring and powerful. And of course, the enigma that is Frank Sinatra's effortlessly powerful voice, filling the room so beautifully, completes it. Wonderful.

  • I'm gonna start a "replay gang bang"

  • dont be so negative guys, robbie did a good job and although hes not as good as sinatra, this was a way for him to at least give back to the memory of sinatra.

  • Hes not even close to Sinatra ...

  • the title is misleading...

  • Disagree, think Robbie does an excellent Job

  • For my dad, I am 50 today and I loved and respected him so much, even to this day, I love you dad xx

  • Sinatra's talent and charisma will live on forever.

  • That was Paulies favorite song..

  • speechless

  • egotistic fool

    who r u

  • cuando veo este video me emociono muchísimo

  • @alassane77 Why?

  • @alassane77 why?

  • @alassane77

    Why?

  • @alassane77 why?

  • Respect to Robbie Williams...but DAMN..when Frank starts singing, you can really tell why he's on another level.

  • @Sulfarose Of course....Robbie voice is so week compared to Sinatra.

  • @Sulfarose You are so right. I always thought Robbie did himself a disservice doing this, he appeared to be doing ok up to this point !!!! and then when Frank sings you realise that actually Robbies efforts were paltry. Sorry Rob not the best decision you ever made but credit given for attempting to honour Frank in this way .

  • @Icequeen1962 He did a tribute to a man that was a legend, he knows he's not as good as Sinatra but I think it was an honor for him to show young people today who Frank Sinatra was.Keeping his music alive for other generations to hear was nothing but pure class. He's a pop star and he wanted to try something different just because his mother wanted him to. Bravo, I thought he was great!. He packed Albert Hall..

  • @Heidella57 If you were to pay attention to what I actually said you will see that I did make reference to the fact that he was honouring Frank in this way!!! However I still maintain that he would have been better off just playing the Frank video and sitting in the sidelines to watch with everyone else. You may think Robbie is wonderful, but I dont. His voice is Ok, but he aint no Sinatra. As for packing Albert Hall, well so does Cliff Richard, it doesnt make him any good.!

  • @Icequeen1962 Any good? Have you seen the hundred of thousands that have gone to his concerts? He was voted musician of the millenium. Have won more Brit awards than any artist. He is not Frank Sinatra. Different musicians different music. His voice live in concerts in phenomenal. He is more of an entertainer. He is huge in Europe. I'm an American and I adore him.

  • @Heidella57 good for you, glad you like him. i said i hes ok, but hes not brilliant. Just because he sells out concerts does not make him great. People are more drawn to his personality than his singing anyway. Hes a good laugh and an ok kinda guy.... tis all!!

  • @Sulfarose Check out the 'smile' , though.

  • @Sulfarose I am agree with you.

  • @Sulfarose I'm not a huge fan of Robbie Williams, but I agree that he's got talent. He's really more of an entertainer, which is what this concert was intended to be anyway. I'm sure Robbie will agree that he's nowhere near as good Frank. In fact no one is as good as him!

  • I really loved Williams here, until Sinatra started singing.

Their vocals are both great, but when it's someone older than 27 who actually is looking back on their life, I *believe* it.

  • respect

  • class!!!!!

  • Nice song :)

  • He is the best. Love you Robbie. <3

  • perfect

  • I can't think of any other pop singer, or any popular singer, that can do a swing album, and Williams did a brilliant swing album. It takes guts to sing this songs and most important of all it takes great amount of talent, and this man obviously has it!

  • robbie just got my respect . well done

  • Whether or not you think Robbie Williams is a good singer, you have to recognize his great taste and appreciate his respect for Sinatra.

  • @orange7blue Nobody can say he has a bad voice, Robbie is single handedly one of the best entertainers that has lived, he gets a lot of criticism for having a bad voice, but listen to Mr. Bojangles and this, puts that critic to bed.

  • esto es la poia, incluso si Williams canta mal, sigue siendo la p0lla.

  • @Tujdosen you are an idiot, he clearly just wrote that robbies mediocrity proves frank sinatras brilliance. where do you get your facts from by the way, you call robbie williams talent and then shit on soulja boy!

  • @baronsnearls ARE YOU TONE DEAF or something!!! I am guessing you are an idiot everyday of the week,,,how about taking a day off!!

  • @crom676 ARE U A MOTHER FUCER or something ? I am guessing u r jerking off everyday! Go and lick robbies hairy and stinky ass! U are so stupit to compare that crow with SINATRA!

  • @baronsnearls Im sorry but you are wrong on many levels. Robbie Williams has talent and he can sing. Very well in fact. One of the few remaining artists who have a good voice and do not resort to the old autotune. Try and recognise talent when it hits you bang smack in the face. Yeah its a cover but he done Mr Sinatra proud.

  • @Stvee1 yes he can sing but Paris Hilton can sing 2.I dont beliave Robbie has voice.and Mr Sinatra doesnt need to be proud by Robbie.

  • so beautiful

  • frocien lol...

  • this is a very god song.

  • i love this kinda jazz and im 15 lol

  • r.w. is taking the p**s. different era different class!

  • Just Beautiful

  • Hail

  • i like homer simpsons edition better....

  • there is a superb version of this song by Ray Charles and Willie Nelson that blows this version out of the water! I wish someone would post it for a technophobe like me

  • Is Robbie ok?

  • Hats off the Gordon Jenkins who wrote that string chart in 1965.

  • I get really sick of people who say Robbie's voice isnt great but the fact that he is a good performer makes up for it. He is actually an incredibly accomplished singer with an extremely powerful voice, especially on this album. Brilliant.

  • @jgaesm No he's not. He's got a shit voice and he's a crap performer. If you want to see someone with a good voice go watch an elvis video of him in the 1970's. If you want to see a good performer go watch a Queen video for example 'Queen live at Wembely'. Watch them and then come back and tell me Robbie Williams is better!!!

  • @elvis1231 I think you misunderstood my comment, I don't need any video recommendations. Why don't you take your own advice though and go listen to elvis and queen, since you really have no purpose being on this page. I think you'll also find that I never said Robbie Williams was better or worse than anyone else so your whole " then come back and tell me Robbie Williams is better" comment is completely futile and even trying to comparing such artists is beyond me and, quite frankly, laughable.

  • @jgaesm haha thats really the only come back you have when speaking about robbie williams compared to legends like elvis and freddie!!

  • @elvis1231 I think you were just rinsed mate...now, go get some poor sod to help you into your elvis suit and try to refrain from refreshing this page over and over in the vain attempt of finding someone else to have a keyboard war with.

  • @jgaesm F A I L

  • @elvis1231 The real epic fail is the fact that you want me to watch Elvis performances from the 70s and not the 50s :D

  • @jgaesm haha it all comes down to personal choice, I prefer 70's elvis because I think he was more of a polished performer and his voice was simply amazing, no one could better it. not even Freddie or Sinatra and certainly not your pub singer wannabe Williams! :)

  • @elvis1231 haha, no no, far sexier in the 50s :)

  • @jgaesm lol well i guess if ur a female then yer but i like him for his voice not his looks haha

  • @elvis1231 as younger female I've always liked him for his voice, period.

  • @elvis1231 "not even Freddie or Sinatra and certainly not your pub singer wannabe Williams! :)" - and thats not personal preference you fucking hypocrite? I personally think Elvis is overrated and would listen to anyone but him. Is this not personal preference you ignorant piece of shit?

  • wonderfull, Robbie you are the dogs.

  • @lagerandwine He' shit, get over it!

  • @elvis1231 lol.

  • EXCELLENT!!!

  • What an amazing performer, Robbie is. The way he feels music within him is an inspiration.

  • i love how they start cheering when sinatra starts singing!

  • thumbs up if u miss sinatra (:

  • @GoldenScent I do miss... but I accidently press the wrong thumb! :(

  • ohh !!!!...wonderful song ! and fantastic, precious video !

    thanks for sharing !

  • @elvis1231 You weak sad twat, i feel sorry for your sad introverted life.

  • @elvis1231

    What are you ? 12?

  • he did this song so well from the heart

  • Frank is the best, but Robbie is wonderful, I love them both and it is wonderful to see Robbie doing this and doing it so well. Robbie you are absolutely fanstastic, I adore you

  • Epic... nothing less! The world is missing great men like Old Blue Eyes and the Rat Pack, They did it not for fame but for doing it... They were epic! I bow to you Robbie for doing this!!

  • Another great MediaWave broadcast.

  • Such a fantastic, beautiful song

  • my respect of robie williams just went through the roof.

  • Classic Song and a great performance by Robbie...he is totally taken over by the emotion of singing with Frank..who wouldn't be... great track.

  • non c'è canzone più bella al mondo, voce più bella e Robby ha avuto coraggio e capacità per riproporla con il grande Frank Sinatra!!!!

  • Love Robbie Williams!!! He can sing so many different types of songs! To shouting, running around the stage, to this. Which i think is amazing!!

  • Love this, I gotta get DVD. My fave is Hollywood Will Listen.

  • this guys has screwed the great song. to hell with him!

  • see the difference when Frank appears. just so sublime. respect to Robbie.

  • only one frank

  • geniet mee, meisje....xxx

  • When I was seventeen, it was a very good year.

It was a very good year for small town girls and soft summer nights.

We'd hide from the light on the village green when I was seventeen.

When I was twenty-one, it was a very good year.

It was a very good year for city

  • This song, mann I listened to it a few months back, and I am in love with Frank sinatras music <3 he was soo talented and amazing, so thank you robbie williams, for exposing a teenager to the songs from way back when. Thank you thank you thank you :D

  • THE BEST

  • He sings with so much passion, and you can tell he genuinely worships Frank. Robbie began my love for the the Rat Pack. He introduced me to the decade of Kings, and for that, to him I owe him a debt. People don't know what they're missing these days when they hear Rhianna and Jay Z. Sinatra was the real star, his voice, his presence, his cool, which Robbie justly tributes.

  • It wazzoo very good year.

  • Franks old piano player was a session pianist on this swing album! He went to Frank Sinatra inc. ( or whatever its called) and told them about Robbie and they listened to his stuff and offered to allow him to use video footage of Frank to do a 'duet' with this song. They were mightily impressed with Robbie by all accounts.

  • really wish he would stay away from sinatra, hes everything frank wasnt, classless and untalented

  • Williams is an actor and a poor one at that. What you're watching here is someone affecting the styles and skills of those who went before, all of whom were better. Pure insincere schmaltz.

  • Back when Robbie was good!

  • @FeathersT21 Still is good, just being held back by the current music market and that stupid band.

  • Been reading through some of the comments on here and some of them are so rude - from both fans and non-fans. Robbie did the SWYW album as a tribute to the Rat Pack and similar artists of the time, nothing more and nothing less.

This is honestly lovely. Respect for Robbie for not being embarrassed that he loves jazz (as so many people are!) and the legends that came from an era that should never be forgotten.

  • @SaxyLexx well said.

  • Anyone should be able to perform a tribute, it's a free country. I just watched a Bruce Forsyth tribute to Sammy Davis. The orchestra here is fantastic. But what I found most disappointing about this concert (and I bought it on DVD) was Robbie can't keep himself from swearing - that's the big difference (as well as the level of talent) - the fact that Sammy, Frank, Dean would never say "F***" live. Class...class... I actually thought this was good really, but he spoilt the concert swearing. Why?

  • He sounds just like him :O

  • Anyone who dislikes this piece of history has their head solid up their ass

  • @379buzz - what piece of history? All I hear is a bad cover.

  • that was really well done, and i found it very moving.

  • there should be a rule against this man attempting to c
