  • Spin off products from NASAs programs have benifited folks all over the planet

  • NASA budget 19 billion a year. enough to balance social security. enough for a health system. enough to free us from dependence on oil. this is not a great nation

its corrupt and dying of cancer..

  • @datzfast Another useless argument. The relative number is 0.6% of the annual budget. Why not taking something from the defense budget? Or why not reducing some authorities? Does the USA really need 16 intelligence agencies? The health care is already payed with 16% of the GDP which is about 2.3 trillion US$.

  • i would love to explore the moon Mars titan and other places too. just to say hey i was here.. who knows some day we will get there :)

  • GrandpaChris,

Sputnik was front page news all over the world.

  • America has gotten lazy. Once another country rises up to challenge, I know the ingenuity of a free people will once again push us to new heights. I just hope to see it in my life time.

  • @mizuno504

thats what really turns me off sometimes about NASA they always need a kick in the ass to get going

  • 50 years...ya well we ain't going no where now. NASA's budget is so goddamn small compared to anything else really. I'm putting my money on private companies to launch us forward.

  • 5:54 wth is titan??

  • i think its one of saturns moons

  • @kirox777 titan is one of jupiters moons jupiter has around 16 or 15 explorers have went too titan and there is water there there alotta ice but under it is water it could be a new era

  • of course not. necessity is the mother of all inventions. though we hate the battles and wars that humankind fought over the history, the wars and battles are part responsible for all our inventions till date.

  • I wonder if could discover all this without the cold war.

  • You mean like not landing on the moon? olol.

  • Landing on the moon was kinda gay lol :)

The biggest step was getting to space , everything after was just a consiquence .

  • This is great! Every child, everyone, should see this! This stuff has always been inspiring to me.

  • When she said "Uranus" and showed the picture of that solid ice looking like planet I thought: "Now wasn't Uranus supposed to be a gas giant?"

  • That's because both the Spirit and Opportunity robots have cameras that took pictures of their rovers and sent them back. There is also a few satellites in orbit around Mars that have the capability to zoom in to their location.

  • Sure, we never went to the moon, and alle the 400'000 involved NASA Technicans are kept silent and the UDSSR haven't said anything, too, because they've been more interested in exposing the USA than some moon-hoaxer!

The only reason for no newer Moon-Expeditions is, that the moon is more boring than the mars, to say it in a secular way.

  • lol. i think your being sarcastic. but to anyone who DOSNT believe we went to the moon. many people have busted that crap already. i mean shit you can SEE the lander/mirrors for measuring exact distance from moon to earth from earth/ flag and other man left behind things with alot of magnification. wonder where youd find some of that and prove it to yourself.

  • @heinz1357 it may be boring on an astronomical scale, but i would give anything to go there. just for 5 minutes even

  • @Daavoid Not only you.

  • @Daavoid would you give everything so some one not you could go?

  • @heinz1357 are not 95 percent of that nasa crowd dead i mean they were probaby all around 40 years old and it was 40 years ago and only 5 percent live to be 80. Americans may have really walked on the moon but your argument is really stupid. in ww2 we built an atomic bombs with 400k people and not one person spilled the beans to the press. as for the ruskies or communist the lie about massacars eveyday and even google helps them and that was probably 20 years ago. so shut the fuck up nigga plez

  • @datzfast Ahem? Seriously? There were only 300000 people involved with the Manhatten Project, and many of them didn't even know what they were developing, this number involves civic helpers, logistics etc. that didn't even know about radiation. Of these were ~150000 involved in research and building, but only a few dozen knew they were going to build a nuke. And since a few dozen < 400000 you're argument is invalid.

By the way, what is the context to genocide?

  • techniclly pluto is still a planet... its a dwarf planet now. :)

  • i think they should fix this.....Pluto doesnt exist as a planet anymore

  • Famous words: Beeep...beeep...beeep...beeep

  • dam, when i was in elamentry i realy dint give a shjitt about space and stuf, but know i role a joint and i watch alot off these, and its quiet fun :D well keep on exsplorieng

  • Wow. Couldn't tell.

  • The hole in the ozone layer was caused by all the rockets they have sent into space. Don't they realize they are destroying our planet?

  • true but space exploration culd be the key to saving whats on our planet

  • our planet is not in any danger this warming phase has occured once before in the early middle ages and nothing bad happend.. its like how americans went butt f*ck crazy wit high gas prices when ppl in japan have had high gas prices for awhile and dont complain. oh and lol satellite that was supposed to monitor CO2 emmisions crashed into the ocean lmfao ( i wonder why XD)impossible to be a 'normal' accident when it was sooo important and well funded.

  • hahaha i love your thinking dude

but i wasnt talking about global warming

jst generally with all the earths resources demolishing.

  • How can you say our planet is not in danger? I like to keep an open mind. Perhaps it is. Do you enjoy living in a polluted world?

Perhaps I'm not understanding you. Perhaps you can try to use puncuation?

  • not if they use hydrogen fuel

  • hope you discover more than that after 50 years!! more power!!

  • May be repeard the ozono hole? Please, apply your tecnology in thes specific problem, more than delirants

    proyects!!!

  • there is no hole in the earths ozone layer its not even a myth its a lie.

  • how do you know its a lie^?? all the ice is melting and even the sun is getting hotter in iceland every summer. so i would say there is something going on with the ozone.

  • there has been massive climate changes on the earth before and stone age cavemen werent running factories and driving cars.

  • its thikening and thinning of the ozone did you also account for the natural changes of the earth, the rate at whcih it freezes and possibly the the sun which has alot to do with our climate? i doubt it

  • Bullshit iceland is just doing fine and its been so cold this summer im just waiting for a heat wave

  • we need another space race lol

  • lol our(as a race) space tech sucks balls it could be alot better but no funding :P

  • Excellent review of 50 years in space. I was listening to the Russian Satellite "Sputnik" in Ottawa Canada on launch night. Frequency transmissions were 44Mhz and 22Mhz. The 'Beep' signal indicated the internal temperture of the satellite. The 'Free World" gave missinformation saying there was no satellite until March 1958 after the first US failure tosatellite launch.

  • really? what else can you tell us. Knowledge of the past is very cool. ! (: Stay Online!

  • Thanks for sharing! You were lucky to have been around to witness the launch of Sputnik.

  • very nice video
