The erectors and lower back core muscles will protect spinal, especially on soft bench :) You can't activate your abs and erectors at the same time. I use this exercise with all kind of people, even with injured (incl. discal hernia).
you mean i should stay very tight? i was asking because i thought maybe it would not be good for my spine to lie like that across the bench. I do the Turkish get up and the start position is similar
Yes. But TG works abs for few seconds. And the idea is to do a bench PRESS. During my bench press spine is protected by the erectors. Also use a soft bench.
or you can do something that targets your whole body and more beneficial like a power clean or deadlift

Never trained standard bench press and it's too isolated for me.
