@wert1074 Basically a huge snow storm in their prime market, USA, caused all car sales, not just Delorean, to virtually stop. Delorean had no money put away in the bank and couldn't pay wages, and eventually the plant closed when they couldn't get more investment.

Speedometers always read higher that the car's maximum speed to allow for certain variables which may modify how the car performs. So just because DMC offers a 140 speedometer swap doesn't mean the car can actually do 140.

Yes that's the stock 130 hp V6. There are performance upgrades available for them though. I've been in a standard Delorean. It won't win any races but it's a great cruiser car. Plus you can get 28 mpg on regular fuel.

Top speed for standard unmodified car is 120 mph. If you have a Stage 2 upgrade then it's 140 apx. The speedo went to 85 due to mileage restrictions. I'm a member of the Delorean Club of Fl. One of the guys in our club has a twin turbo on his Delorean. I don't have a Delorean yet, but i'm working on it!

He couldn't start the company back up because he couldn't get the financing. No one wanted to finance someone who got busted by the FBI even though he was never convicted. He never went to jail. The Delorean Motor Company in Houston TX and CA are currently refurbishing and restoring Deloreans. You can get a improved suspension and performance upgrade for the engine. The Stage 2 engine costs from $6,000 to $7,000. It has 197 hp and will propel the car 0-60 in 6 seconds.

Actually, DeLoreans do not get very good gas mileage for their engine size and weight. They use a mechanical fuel injection system that, though smooth running and reliable, is not very fuel efficient.

Actually no, this ones a 34k mile car and they sort of had them figured out in 83', Still a volvo/peugot/renault motor though , reliable but not a ton of HP. Enough to move it out fine. I posted this video for potential buyers
